Very small and cramped! But put it into perspective, thats 6500 baht per month = £140. A room in a shared house in the worst town in the UK will probably be £450 per month minimum.
That’s right mate, when you think about the price, it’s amazing how cheap you can live here still.
Nice condo overall, the building and such. And I don't mind airplanes, being an aviation nerd.
But that is one TINY little place! If you've ever watched the movie/play "Barefoot in the Park", you'd recognize the phrase "We'll be sleeping left to right tonight!" meaning it's too small for two people to sleep without rolling over together, synchronized, in tandem! hahaha
It was a cool little place but a little cramped, especially the bedroom. I've never seen that film, I'll have to watch it . Hahaha Thanks Beverly.
@@WalkAboutWayne It's a classic! Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, hilarious comedy. Dated but .... the bedroom reminds me of the movie!!
Congrats on hitting the 20k mate, well done. I'd go bonkas living in that joint🤣
Thanks Randy mate! Yeah, the apartment was a bit cramped.
I really love your videos mate!
As an American who visited Thailand whilst in the Navy, your content brings back very good memories of a country that is underappreciated!
Thanks for the work
Thank you buddy! Great to have you on the channel.
I lived next door to a train track for 20 years and never noticed the freight trains passing during the night.
Nice! I think I would prefer train Noise. Infact I would like it if it wasn’t to near the station. 👍
Thanks Wayne! I like these apartment shopping videos, excellent for situational awareness. It's pretty compact, sort of like a Japanese Apartment but who can complain for the price. Something like that here would be 10-15X the price and no way a person on a pension could qualify to rent even if they could afford it. For someone facing that sort of homeless scenario I'd say get on a plane and head out. For that price a person here on Social Security could afford to keep it and head out to Vietnam, Malay or Bali for a week or two every 90 days.
Thanks mate! That’s right, when you put the price in to perspective, it’s amazing what you can get for so little. This place would be great for someone on a budget. Thanks
Generally if you live parallel the runways the noise is tolerable. I would never live at the end of a runway. Especially if one lives on the takeoff end of the runway. This is why renting in the Nimmanheaminda area and paying the high rents is a mystery to me.
That’s right, I don’t think it’s to bad in this area. I was hoping to get a plane on the video but Sod’s Law, none about.
@WalkAboutWayne PerfectHomes had a vidoe on this place as well. It looks like you beat them. Their video was all smiles and yours was very direct and honest. Keep making vidoes about condos and apartments because you have nothing to sell and you give an honest viewpoint on all properties.
@@mikeparker6322 Nice one Mike. I think a lot of Tubers have done vlogs here in the past also. I will always give my honest opinion mate, my whole channel is built on that. Thanks buddy.
I lived just behind the school for ablut ten years, came back to England in 2015, I trained muay thai there too, got heaps of mates sround there, I know the area very well, what a lovely surprise to see it, nice one Wayne, just made my day.
Nice one! Glad it brought back some memories 👍
For 1 person it would work…. Have a lot of facilities down stairs… I guess no lift..carrying stuff up the stairs would get old fast…didn’t hear any planes roaring overhead…personally I need at least around 50 square meters to feel comfortable…
There are lifts.
Yes, they have lifts. 2 in fact.
I have a 27sq m condo, and that's fine for me. That's about the minimum one should consider, though. That size will allow you to have enough storage space, small kitchenette, sofa, and breakfast table. If you were willing to invest, you can even buy wall beds - not sure how good they are though. The small balcony is the issue with my place though. But a more general point is that in the tropics, as long as you're a fairly active person, you'll be out most of the time. And ppl should remember that your annual ground fee (common condo fee) depends on floor area - mine is just £160 a year. Having said that, 50 sqm would be great...
When I lived in Amsterdam for a few months back around 2010, I had to choose an apartment online to rent, before I left to fly there. They had a building set aside for visiting scholars, had a choice of floors, and I chose the top floor (8 floors up). When I actually got there, I found out the apartment was right below the landing path for Schipol Airport.. huge airliners were passing 200-300 feet overhead, depending on the wind direction. Sometimes this would go on past midnight. And then I also found out that the elevator didn't always work - it was an old building, the elevator was the sort where you had to close the doors manually. And there were only two in the building, the other one was at the other end of the block. Ah well, live and learn.. At least the view was good... 🤣 I didn't mind the noise that much, watching the planes was interesting, sometimes something unusual would fly over, and you had a REALLY good view.
Sounds like a nightmare 🤣. Good that you
Made the best out of it though.
Hey Wayne! Price seems fair for the space and what you get; needs a maintenance "onceover" and cleaning. Came to this conclusion before you confirmed it. Never did hear the plane noise! Oh well! Good fortune, health .and safe travels.
Yes mate, for the price can't complain really. It's a nice place but a little cramped. I tried my best to wait for a plane, but typical none did. As soon as I left I seen one fly in. Typical.
Looks good. Actually not much street noise. Chiang Mai airport is not that busy. Coffee and restaurant on site is handy.
Yes, it's still a great place for the price.
Not bad, especially for the price 6,500 baht per month but again tiny in size and those one meter wide balconies I don't like at all, simply a space to put the air con unit, a washing machine and likely a clothes horse. Much prefer one you can sit outside and relax. Being that close to the airport too not ideal. Nice video though mate. Cheers Wayne. 🤩
Can't grumble for the price mate. Little bit cramped but still really good place for cheap living. It wasn't for me but amazing the set up you can still find for around 6000. Yes, I would prefer a balcony that you can sit out on. Cheers mate.
I lived 7 years near the south end of CM airport behind the old Lanna Int'l school. Very close to this condo which were reno'd about 7-8 years ago. Great place with pool, you get used to the plane noise except the military jets
Yes that’s true, I got use to them when I lived up around the Nimman area.
Always be careful to live near by the airport. Terrible noise of landing and seating aeroplanes
Yes, that's right. It's not to bad at this place.
I can only get a 30ft storage space at that price where i'm from so that's a pretty sweet deal.
Yes. Still very cheap here when you think about it. Infact it’s still a great deal.
Is the very tall lady who showed you the apartment a ladyboy?
No, she’s a woman, but it wouldn’t matter in the slightest if she was a Ladyboy 👍
you couldn't hear the planes
You can hear them. Sod’s Law , none came into land when I was doing the video. But as I was heading back I seen a plane come in.
Good job, good concept, 2B Out & About.
Thanks buddy 👍
Hello Wayne,... very informative vid again,... nice little tight gaff cheap as chips,... the noise could be an issue but might not be too busy,...I live about four miles from the airport and quite enjoy seeing the planes coming and going,...I get the royal mail plane fly right over my gaff at 1130 every night then I know it's bedtime 🙂
I don't know if there is anything interesting to see/ visit/ stay on the train line ?? I see the local train stops at loads of places,... just thought I'd mention it as some people may not be into scooters/ bikes,..... all the best
Nice one Mark. Yeah it's not a bad place for the money, still cheap as chips mate. I don't think the planes would bother me to much either. Yes mate, the train would stop at some places going south. I've been to some of the nearest ones. It's not really on my list at the minute mate but always good to hear things like this. Cheers buddy.
Ok skipper thanks very much,... wasn't sure if anything stood out for you along the line,... Look forward to seeing what you come up with,... all the best 🙂
Always think having 2/3 coffee shops you like close is important, same with cafes. Makes it feel homely if you can stroll to both.
Yes, it's a massive plus having the cafe, restaurant and shop at this place. It's not a bad deal once you consider everything on offer.
@@WalkAboutWayne Saw another review of a larger unit at the same place, not much more $$ but a lot nicer. Still prefer to have two coffee/cafes to go to (as a minimum). You get to know more locals, and if one goes ordinary you have a back-up without having to ride/cab. IMO
Not feeling that place...
It was a bit cramped. Not bad though, especially with everything on site.
Keep up the good work Wayne ❤
Thank you, mate 👍
Yeah, a little rough but very reasonably priced! Wouldn't be for me either, especially that close to the airport! Great video otherwise! I enjoy seeing what's available and the different options! Thanks for taking us along! Take it easy! 🙂
Yes, not the worst place . Great to have the restaurant and cafe onsite. Still very cheap but not for me.
Nice one on the 20k Wayne!
Nice one Jon, I hope the channels are going well mate. I know you put in a lot of work. 👍
During my 6 month Chiang Mai trial run in 2019-2020 I lived in a Condo off of Huaykaew Rd between Maya Mall and the old City. The Airport noise got to be pretty unbearable which is why I now live in Doi Saket.
I remember when I was in Nimman, it was getting on my nerves bit. I was hoping to get a plane on this video but sods law I didn't see any. I asked the lady and she said yes, you can hear all the planes coming in. Cheers mate. Doi Saket lovely area.
@@WalkAboutWayne I have a friend who now lives in Nimman and I mentioned my issues with the airplane noise while I lived close by, he said (at that time) that it did not bother him, but now he says that it’s all that he hears but he likes the area and tolerates it. 🙏
Good to know there are some at that area. As we stayed 9 months at Crystal place, just behind Airport festival plaza, we were never bothered by the close airport but the dog fights every night!!
Yes, a lot of dogs down around that area. A few people have mentioned the dogs also.
No, better do not live close to an airport, noise causes high blood pressure, stress, bad sleep. It is is simply very unhealthy
Yes, it nigh not be the wisest move.
🔥😍❤️
🙏🙏🙏
I'll pass mate, a bit too cramped for me and not my taste. 👍
I’ve put your name down mate, move in 1st July 🤣🤣
Shoebox living at its finest. I',m pretty sure that she is speaking Chinese in the background, I've heard a lot of it. That place is not designed for a Westerner, we don't live in such confining spaces. I do think you'd be the only Westerner in the building.
I don’t think anyone was a Chinese mate, I thought she was but she said no. This place is very popular also, I’ve know a few foreigners staying here over time. It was a bit cramped though buddy, especially in the bedroom.
Wayne Is there trouble getting your deposit back? i have heard some Asian countries will keep your deposit for no legal reason (wtf 😒)
I have to admit, that is known to happen here Steve mate. Sadly, I do hear these stories a lot. It’s crazy right. I’ve never had to get my deposit back yet, so I’ll see how that goes when I move place. All depends on the owner.
Nothing wrong with the price - you would need an extremely good knowledge of that exact areas noise etc. , but there is probably a lot worse - Thanks WW ✔️✌️👍👋🙏
Not a bad place mate, can’t grumble for the price. Bit of airport noise in the area but not the worse place. Cheers Ant
Kinda a dump honestly. I would rather pay another $50 and get a place not so run down inside.
I wouldn’t go that far. No need to spend another $50. Loads more places the same price. Cheers
I could easily live next to an airport. I sleep with Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones with a White Noise app playing the sound of flying in a Jet. I don’t hear a thing. I wear when I fly too. Even crying babies are silent.
Be sad if you don't hear the smoke alarm😭
Nice! I been listening to sweeping sounds lately , with a broom. Don’t know why, but I love that sound.
@@randyirvine5858 I have a very keen sense of smell. 🤥
I live up near the University, planes landing and taking off. Yes it’s occasionally loud but it does not bother me. It is not all day and night.
Yes, they never seem to bad when I’m around that area. Like you say, you
Get use to it.
As I understand it, this is parallel to the airport and not under the flight path, like Niman is, so even though it's close to the airport the noise isn't bad at all. My issue is outside downstairs there isn't enough in walking distance to keep me interested. I still prefer the Old City area.
Yes, the noise isn’t so bad here. I was hoping to get a plane on camera, but Sod’s Law, none in sight. I’ve bees in that area many times though and seen planes come in, it’s not so bad as further down. Thanks
Nice to compare properties and prices. This one looks a bit cramped . The proximity to the airport is useful if you travel a lot. Thanks for the review
Yes, perfect if you need the airport a lot 👍
not for me too; saw this condo 1 day ago on yt lol with a nice miss pim
Nice! This place is in fact popular, so a lot of videos on Airport Condo. It was a little cramped, especially the bedroom.
San sai area aren't too bad either 😂
Sansai is nice , Yes 👍
Group viewing would put me off too. Needs a bit of tlc..Theres plenty of rooms for around that price..Id keep looking..
Yes, I'm not the biggest fan of that. Thousands of rooms.
Hi Wayne- that would be a hard no thanks even if i were single. These condos seem to be getting smaller. Is the condo rental market around CM getting tight these days?
Not that I know of mate, same as it’s always been. This type of layout is all over the city these days buddy👍
Nice one Wayne. I've been a subscriber coming up to three years now. I want to congratulate you on reaching 20k subscribers. I'm glad to have been a part of your journey in CM Thailand. Green tea on me 🫶🏻❤️.
Thanks Kashif! Yes mate, you have been on the channel for a long time and I appreciate it . I seen the green tea mate, thanks. That will be today’s Green Tea celebration for 20k mate. Thanks
