even outside of being trendy, sambas are really nice and will age well since they're leather - i got mine right before the pandemic and breaking them in was weird initially but now they've molded to my feet so they're really comfortable. i was confused when they started being really trendy but i can see why tbh
I find that micro trends are fun to try to attempt if you like sewing and thrift flipping. Best case scenario you come out with something trendy for a couple bucks, worst case scenario is you have a learning experience at the expense of some scrap fabric and a couple bucks. Also I have the same haircut as you and I love the short bob representation
i def dont think they r timeless AT ALL !! its a trend from the 90’s that came back reverted to the nowadays. perfect example of timeless shoes is converse
In regards to ballet flats and mary janes, I am a very flatfooted walker so when I walk in really flat shoes, it is really harsh on my legs and goes right through me so I was overjoyed when I saw a more supportive and wearable alternative with more support and a platform that helps my feet! Love this video!
personally, i am so happy capris are back, even if it “goes out of style” in the next year idec, they have become a timeless staple for me. it’s a comfy and versatile pant that comes in several types of silhouettes, on top of that they are so easy to find at a thrift store, my fave fr, great video!!!!!
to me they can always be styled as “timeless” bc they remind me of marilyn monroe or an audrey hepburn sort of look. like styling them with a black turtleneck and little ballet flats just feels timeless and chic
General rule: when a trend it's too specific it will die soon. Like, the ballerina flat? Sure. The specific shoe at 3:19 ? You either liked it a lot before/after it trended or you will start hating on it in a week. This goes the same with patterns, silouttes, fabrics etc. if you can think of different versions of the trend you are more likely to adapt it to yourself and like it for a long time, if you like just one specific type you are just wanting to participate in something designed to make you consume that will die as soon as you get it.
The thing is, nobody wears most of these things in real life lol but I do think platform shoes and capris are more accessible and comfy for the general public (people of all ages shapes and sizes) than things like heels and "micro shorts". I also found it interesting that you consider athletic shorts, jorts and micro shorts all trends when like what other short options are there in the summer?lol I freaking love Mary Jane sneakers but you are spot on about how costly they are. I keep thrifting some but they fall apart in months 😭 Anyways this was my first vid of yours I'm subbing and hope to see more (on RUclips since I'm not on the other platforms).
As a short girly (159cm): platforms until I perish! I need and love every extra cm I can get comfortably. Especially since I will only shrink as I get older lol. Aside from my cripling need to be tall(er), I also like them for playing with silhouets. The platform is always going to give some volume, some chunk. And sometimes that will give a whole new dimension to a look I find. I think its an identity and taking-up-space thing for me.
7:02 omg i LOVEEE metallic. it's probably not gonna last, but I for sure ll counting wearing them. I think I got some Prada 2nd hand from a few years ago (probably 2011) for under 100 now and they happen to be around when the metallic trend is around, but the fact that they are 2nd hand kinda shows that this is a trend that comes and goes.
Totally! I feel like the quality of the item definitely matters. If you're buying something of good quality, or designer, then you're likely going to keep wearing it even if it's not on par with the current "trends." Also, thats such a good find!!
I'm trying to get metallic jeans, but I believe in mostly investing in "trends"that have aspects of something that you were interested in before, for me I got obsessed with some metallic shoes ages ago and now I want everything 😅
the thing is that ppl will wear these things to make themselves look like any other celeb/influencer when def NO !! & the worst part is that they would waste hundreds/thousands of dollars just for THAT !
That’s any I think everyone is better off not following trends to a tee, and at the end of the day just wear what they like! That’s also why I advocate for thrifting ‘trends’ if you want to participate in them
you know this pic with the black and silver ballet flats on your thumbnail is my first pic for my Pinterest folder called "style(ito)" (yes came back from a Spanish speaking country when I made iz. also the gang shoes are lit the style from 8 years ago
I’m saying a non platform shoe (in my opinion) will outlast a platform. For example, a platform ugg, converse, etc. I don’t think is as timeless as the classic versions. As I said in the video, this is my opinion. I know not everyone will agree

THIS !! plus even if they aren’t rly trendy u’d still use them bc u LIKE em :)
I got my sambas in 2014. Granted I don’t wear them every single day, but they’ve still lasted 10 years!
I adore mine, there so comfortable for walking all day, especially as a uni student with a large campus 🙈
i feel like everything can be timeless if its truly ur style

I wore Sambas in the 90's. I think they are timeless.... sort of like the Adidas shorts.
Similar to converse! Timeless and practical but they cycle with how popular they are at different times

@@morupiepen Actually 70's. If you are an indoor soccer player...you know this. They came out in 1949. There is history behind the shoe.
@@luloops there might be history tho but they arent timeless shoes

I really need the thrift gods to bless me with a good pair so I can try and have a more solid opinion of them after styling
Same, I wore em before they were trendy, and will continue to lol

6:38 I love platform shoes for the winter, the platform typically protects the shoe from snow and separates my pants from dragging in the slush 🫣

platforms have been trending since 2010s at least, and before that the 90s. what's this girl saying?

Funny Trends What we grew up with ?
Graphic tees are trashy and cheap
See I completely disagree I think they can be styled very well
Frr those screen printed baby tees with a bow or a fruit or something look sooooo cheap
Then call me a garbage bag
