(2013 Murano), I simply drilled a hole through that area and secured with a nut, bolt and a couple of washers. Works perfectly.

There are electrical wires there bringing light to the mirror. Drilling holes can cause a short and a blown fuse.

I have the same problem with my Altima. I will definitely try your solution as opposed to buying a new sun visor which I've done before.
