Fireball XL5 Space Monster

- Presenting a Fireball XL5 episode entitled "Space Monster". Space City has lost contact with the crew of Fireball XL2. The last known position of the spacecraft is a planet called Monataine and coming from the planet’s surface is a distress signal. Fireball XL5 is ordered on a search and rescue mission by Commander Zero. Little does Steve Zodiac, Venus and Matt Matic know that Monataine is the home of a monstrous creature. When the space monster traps both crews inside a cave an unlikely hero must rescue the rescuers. This is a color animated remake of the UK children’s show Fireball XL5, created by Gerry & Sylvia Anderson, which featured marionettes. Produced by AP Films and distributed by ITC Entertainment, it appeared on US television from 1963-1965 on NBC. Voices, sound effects and music are from the original TV broadcast. There are slight alterations for creative license.

I love Prof. Matic's rotating Laboratory. Much updated since the original but still maintaining it's basic elements. Dragon is very cool, too. Not 'Hokey' like the puppet.
Guess it's like the Bahamas in Space City.....or Venus is a bit of an extrovert,....not complaining, mind you. 🎷🐙 Great tribute, Gerry would be happy.
Thank you so much for watching and the positive comment. I believe Space City is located on an island in the South Pacific, which would explain the warm weather & the beach house. As for Venus, my wife told me if she was in her 30s & had a body like Venus and lived in a Beach House she would be dancing around in a string bikini too.
I recall from the stories in TV21 Magazine that Space City was on an island; I don't know if it was Bermuda, Like Unity City (the capital of the World Government); is Bermuda big enough for two cities?
Well done guys! The quality of the graphics and detail you are putting in gets more impressive with each episode. The walking and running sequences were very well done and I loved Venus dancing the Twist! Please keep the episodes coming! 👍🚀

My wife replied that if she was in her early 30s, lived in a beach house and had a body like Venus she too would be dancing in a skimpy bikini.

venus is a bit of a hottie! i like the re-imagining of the original story. there's more than meets the eye between steve and venus - this was followed up with the triangle relationship between troy, atlanta and marina. xl5 was always a favourite of mine and i like these animations. the flightline of the rocket looks well imagined.

My motivation for putting Venus in that bathing suit was a song I remember from 1960 called "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini." I also thought a dragon was a better alternative than the brontosaurus-like monster that was in the original show.
The World Space Patrol should quarantine the Space Monster's planet.

A good take on the original, proper 16:9 aspect over the originals 4:3 also helps bring XL5 to a new audience Love the opening sequence Xl5 accelerates and doesn't wobble at end of launch rail.

This is great and I love how you have brought this up to modern technology, thanks to shockley, bardeen, brattain who invented the transistor, without them that age of the computer would not have allowed this to be made.

The space monster was a dragon available in the animation program I use and I thought fit the part quite well (the same but different enough than the original). Tentatively, the next episode will be WINGS OF DANGER reintroducing the evil Plutonians from Planet 46.

Venus's choice of clothing is a surprise for the dance but it works better than her XL5 uniform. Monster is excellent. Best bit has to go to the imaginative look of Monnataine (if that's how it's spelt?)

In the earliest episodes I wanted the characters to look more like marionettes but a number of viewers found them unappealing. Follow what Gerry Anderson did with the Terrahawks and later Thunderbirds shows. Don't show the legs walking, and use tight close ups of the upper torso and heads.
He did that to hide the strings on the marionettes.
Granted yours are CGI, and yes a lot of today's generation are spoiled by semi-lifelike movement... Keep doing what you do and refine as you go. In my experienced opinion, you have talent that has yet to be discovered.

Thank you for watching and posting a question. As a one-person studio I am able to recreate an average of 3 to 4 episodes a year. I am presently in production of an episode called THE FORBIDDEN PLANET with a tentative release date of October 2021.
As much as I appreciate the nostolgiac thrill, I can't help but wonder if these productions are an excuse to satisfy a few adolescent fantasies concerning the women. Venus looks hot in her dancing gear.
