Dope video dude! Looked like a great little hike/overnighter. The joeys look like sick packs, I’d love to try one out. Really interested to see if Id get along with the running style shoulder straps. Really great idea switching packs. This video was way more in-depth then I thought it would be. Mad props ✌️ Ben.
I really wish they would have added some elastic to the sternum straps. They also need to be longer! I can barely clip the bottom one. This along with the lack of give in the sternum straps really compromise the comfort. Major oversight in details IMO

love the flip flop evaluation. i think the new design of the back/front pocket (it seems every other cottage calls it one or the other.. can we just settle on back.. it's the back of our back.. does that make sense.. wearing these we are beetles) is much improved.. obviously strap width is a plus. just adding the new side pocket stretch but keeping the original materials would have been enough. i guess they just realise most people are going to use a nylofume/turkey bag anyway so what's the point.
the trail running thing of it all seems a bit scary.. i can try out a salamon or inov8 but that bottle movement looked soo wrong.. maybe a hydra/crush flask would solve it? thanks for a great review
I think part of the price increase from the V1 to V2 has to do with where they were manufactured. I think they are mostly being made in Utah now.

Really thought trough comparison. I would have appreciated the comparison at the beginning of the video b e cause that's why I cliked, and the scenic and use footage later on.
The fabrics are cheaper but the cuts are more complex and they may have had manufacturing cost changes over the past year. I have both. I love the old, espeacially for hiking. The new is going to be great for touring on a skateboard. :)

Is the Joey overkill for a day hike pack? Looking for a new one as I really need to upgrade my tiny pack
Depends on what you’re carrying for the day tbh. I prefer a Salomon running vest for a day pack, and I usually pack: first aid, bathroom kit, rain jacket/wind jacket, snacks, water, maybe sit pad. In a Joey, that stuff would just be bouncing around/sitting at the bottom.
