i am from Peru and we had some alpacas at school, i remember the biggest one, a male called Lorenzo. He had quite a temper and ran after us if we got too close to the fence. A friend entered his domains to pick a ball and had to run for it as Lorenzo chased him for 15 min. Good times

They are in fact used to guard against dogs and other canines, the alpaca could have easily killed the dog. Moral of the story is alpacas are no joke, they are guard animals.
@@ShmoeBoe its actually llamas that are used as guard animals, they are even used as guard animals for alpacas because alpacas are so docile in comparison. At least that whats i found when i was looking into alpacas. More than anything i think its how an animal is socialized. And likely that alpaca should probably have some buddys there to make it happier since they're herding animals. But i dont know the owners personal situation.

They are, actually. Llamas, Alpacas, and donkeys are all better guard dogs than dogs. MUCH more lethal. Once they bond with the herd of other animals, they'll defend them against any and all intruders.
Yeah alpacas are used as herd guards
Both llamas and alpacas go great in herds of goat or sheep because they are inquisitive instead of fearful. If something new comes in they'll march right up and see what's what.
Alpacas will straight up stomp out and turn coyotes and other intruding animals into hamburger meat in minutes. Some people don't realize why people keep an alpaca with their farm animals like cattle, horses, etc. They're BRUTAL.
Skunk Ape really aren’t they preys of some predators like coyotes, wolves, pumas.
