Troppe volte ci dimentichiamo i sinfonisti "minori" che, comunque, ci regalano sovente perle di bellezza come questa sinfonia. Affascinante e totalmente godibile.

Magnificent Symphony with beautiful and spaceous melodies typical of the 1900's. Borresen Symphonies belong amongst the great Danish tradition paved by Weyse, Kunzen, Hartmann, Gade, Helsted and Nielsen. Bravo KuhlauDiffeng2, this music is a true discovery and should be performed frequently.

Wonderful orchestral color by Borresen; lovely, lyrical uplifting Symphony !!!! The Wikipedia entry mentions Svendsen and Tchaikovsky as likely influences, but, the orchestral color input may have also come from composers such as Berlioz, Mendelssohn, Raff, and others.

I got to know lots of Nordic composers thanks to this channel. And I am so thankful for that ❤

Obras magníficas de autores magníficos pouco ou nada conhecidos, que merecem visibilidade; este é um desses, e não há como deixar de agradecer a quem divulga.

Clear Brucknerian roots, as much as Sibelian and Nielsen´ s. Overall, magnificent. A sound DNA creation ( the combination of strings in G minor - sostenuto - with flutes and wind instruments is excellent) makes me searching quickly for other symphonies and orchestral pieces. Thank you so much.

Having listened to so many works on you tube that are non-popular, non-high volume, non-overplayed works, I am starting to notice the difference in feeling or mood of pre and post WWI pieces. This one is definitely pre-WWI. I so appreciate the assortment of beautiful numbers not played on "classical radio" offered here on "You-Tube."

A very tuneful, lush romantic symphony. Thank you for uploading this. Borresen and Alfven have been great discoveries for me lately.

You might enjoy Joachim Raff, Mary Alice Smith, Kurt Atterberg, and Max Bruch. It seems these composers never made it to FM classical stations in the 1980's and 1990's.

That is quite a piece, and so is the 2nd symphony. Hakon Borreson bears more looking into. Hard to understand why he so little known. While orchestras were insulting our taste with Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Copland, Beethoven...he was there all the time!
