For the hair dye to work you need to either use bleaching before blue dye, or use a dye that includes a lot of bleaching (which usually works less well).
Exactly. Blue doesn't show up on black.
What he did shouldn't even count!

Ooh man, ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ
8:08 That is very, VERY dangerous. The only thing keeping the heating elements from melting and catching fire is the flow of cool air. If your hair dryer is old and doesn't have a safety system, it can burn down your house.
There are many hair dryers in which you can select cold air flow (no heating element on) - in that case it can work
You sound like you burned your house down trying to do TikTok life hacks
@@leakd hahahhaha🤣🤣🤣
I doubt anyone has a hair dryer without that safety system. It is illegal for them to be produced without them and this has been the standard for decades. It's necessary because hair dryers will shut down even when using them normally for too long, which is something I've had to deal with that issue when using them in projects to speed up something drying. The closer you hold the hair dryer to the thing you're trying to dry, the faster it will overheat and shut down. The reason is that air has to flow from one end to another. The effect is the same whether you block it from the front or block it from the back.

For the light bulb trick at 7:10, even if the voltage was right it wouldn't turn on because the circuit is not closed. It's basically an open breaker
Also there are low voltage light bulbs available like those in old flashlights. They can be powered with 3V. Still, great content ;)
Its would work trust me we teach that here in Belgium also the experiment the candle experiment worked because the oxygen in the bottle have been absorbed by the fire , so basically the water takes the percentage of the oxygen that was in the bottle
The polarity was not the same for the hack and the test.
Does nobody know the difference between AC and DC current?
Yeah he didn't even do it correctly😂
This is what sets Arun apart from the rest of the crowd. He doesn't just do a thing and shows it working or not working. He explains why it works or if something doesn't work, explains why it doesn't or how it has potential to work if done a bit different. Top notch content.
0:47 the brand of the phone literally changes💀💀💀
8:15 - the hairdryer isn't broken, it's just a fail safe that shuts down the dryer if its airflow is poor or it gets too hot. The spark is normal when safety engages, leave it for a few minutes and it will work again.

@@EchaOmega well that idea is dumb as hell and that's why safety like this is built in any modern hairdryer so even dumb people won't hurt themselves.
9:07 Correcting a few stuff here.
First of all having the inside hotter would only make the pressure inside higher.
Secondly, that happens because fire needs oxygen to continuously burn as the oxygen use up the pressure decreases, pulling in the water around it to about 20% of he volume since that's how much oxygen in the bottle and atmosphere.

@@Summer-gw9xf CO2 is also more dense than O2 which will also free up space in the bottle for water (and the water from the reaction will also help). You also see that water is already being sucked up before the flame dies
@@Tommienio the CO2 produced won't change volume by much cause carbon in in solid form and it will be added to O2 .CO2 and O2 occupies same amount of space causing CO2 to be more denser which doesn't result in water rising. The reason for water rising is due to paraffin binging burnt. Paraffin in carbohydrates like higher form of CnHm. And reaction is like CnHm + O2 --> CO2 + H2O. Resulting in more water formation. And if u let it cool after the O2 is used the volume of air decreases, increasing the water level again.

8:09 The camera definitely caught the spark
About the battery light bulb one: In the first clip, they connected positive terminals of the batteries to both positive and negative terminal of the light bulb, which means, there's no way for electricity to flow. In the 2nd clip, they've connected the terminals right(except for the 2 positive terminals touching together, that doesn't do anything in this case), but there's still no closed circuit, They'd have to connect the free terminals together to close the circuit (and turn the bottom battery around, so the positive terminal touches the negative terminal). So basically just running the batteries in serial connection to increase voltage to a higher amount. I've made a light bulb run on 60V from serially connected 9V batteries.
An other problem with this is that batteries supply DC current and light bulbs use AC
@@Tommienio depends on the bulb in these modern times. A normal incandescent bulb will work with either AC or DC as it is just electricity going through a filament and it doesn't matter if the electricity is alternating or not. An LED bulb on the other hand is designed to be used with AC and probably won't work with DC.
It's designed to work with ac being mains powered. While the led itself is dc there will be a bridge rectifier in it.
i needed someone to say this. The lightbulbs and battery were a open circuit in the video too
@@Tommienio There's full bridge rectifier inside so it works both AC and DC.

At 7:20 the bulb doesn't work because it is not a closed circuit. doesn't matter how much voltage they provide, current will not flow
Technically speaking, a high enough voltage potential would cause the air to ionise and close the circuit, but that would be in the 100s of kVs and also destroy the bulb, not to mention needing not batteries but a proper high voltage power supply , but you're spot on with the explanation
Also the tiktok shows positive to positive

We did the candle experiment in school but it doesn't explode like that tik tok claims
Someone had to say it... The reason at 7:09 isn't completely correct... as the 1.5V potential difference has nothing to do with the trick not working...
It's simply because the circuit is actually open.. so no actual current flows through the lamp. :)

The marker trick is kinda true. Yellow and green highlighters are very visible under blue filtered light (much more so than in regular light) which stage technicians use to for example make notes behind the stage where we can only have a little bit of blue light. Yellow light would often be visible to the audience. It's a bit different between different highlighters though how well you can see them, and I have never tried diluting one...
The spark inside the hair dryer was the thermal switch stopping the whole case from melting because of restricted airflow. It should come back on in a few minutes
I thought it was because he was vacuuming up liquid (which the mask isn't going to catch all of) right into the motor...
Unless it's the old kind that was made from ceramic.
If you watch the spark happen frame by frame, you can see pretty clearly that it was edited in lmao
@@TheWickkit naw the worst liquid would do to the motor is cause corrosion over time but brushed motors are pretty tough
@@shno_deela6986 they certainly can be, the only reason I've ever seen one spark before was when the brushes were going out and I just figured the odds of that on his hair dryer were pretty slim but I guess, in reference to what that other person mentioned, maybe the restricted air flow would be a factor...? I'm sorry but I really don't think the sparks were edited in, that is just pointless.
8:18 the hairdryer was sparking because it needs the airflow to cool down the heating element and prevent it from melting, restricting that airflow resulted in that heating element melting and since the heating element is also resistor limiting current to the motor in the hair dryer it stopped working completly.
9:23 I knew about this one. I worked at Starbucks for about 6 years. We used to steam the milk jugs with our steam wand so that we could crunch them up quickly and make more room in our recycling bin. It’s astonishing how small they can get 😂
7:11 This reason for why it doesn't work is not wrong, but it's definitely not the main one.
The circuit is just not completed, so there is no electricity flowing. To complete it you'd need to connect the negative poles of the batteries to the light bulb as well.
Why is no one talking about this?
11:26 fun fact, no. Alcohol does not burn off that easily. In fact, a lot of alcohol stays in dishes, even in many long cooked ones a little alcohol still remains and doesn't burn off magically. Adam Ragusea made a great video on this, you should watch it.

The thing about coloring your hair is you need it to be bleached blonde, in order for the color to pop out. It's like adding blue to a black can of paint it's never gonna work. And for the color to pop out more you need to be really blond, like Targaryen white hair blond.
I think they test beforehand to make sure it's almost exactly half but one over so he gets the hair and the viewer gets the reward for staying tuned
Fun fact :the combination at 12:25 is literally the konami code💀
9:05
I think that happens not because the heat decreases the air pressure, its because the fire while burning uses up the oxygen hence decreasing the air pressure.
(in fact, heat would INCREASE the air pressure because it makes the air inside expand)
It’s a mixture of both
You were somewhat right with the bottle and candle one. The flame from the candle is also burning up all the oxygen inside of the bottle creating a vacuum, which then sucks the water up into the bottle.
I can't believe he said that the pressure drops when the air is heated up 😂
but heating are makes pressure bigger
That's actually further from what's truly going on than what he said. It's about Boyle's law, nothing about combustion.
Candle is not burning up the oxygen

9:00 heatin up a gas would actually expand it (PV=nRT) but what's happening is that for every 2moles of oxygen used up only 1mole of CO2 is produced (and 2moles of H2O) resulting in half as much gas in addition to when this hot air cools down after the candle blows out from the lack of O2 that the pressure drops even further and sucks up water

7:09 for the bulb to light you need to complete the circuit. even you have batteries totaling 230v, the bulb will still not light without a complete circuit.
can you tell me what other parts it needs to become a complete circuit?
and it still would not light because the bulb needs AC current and batteries are DC
@@pratishthabajracharya7 You need negative/positive on one side, and the opposite on the other
@@pratishthabajracharya7 It needs one end of the circuit connected to the bottom pointy part and the other end connected to the side of the part screws into the outlet. So you would need a wire connecting the bottom batteries to one of the side batteries.
@@leonkolaric5158 it would still work. That is a led bulb it seems and they rectify the 230V ac and turns it into DC internally anyways. And if it is a incadecent bulb it doesn't matter, they light up anyways

6:10 it was actually in our 6th or 7th standard textbook.. if you flat out the paper on the ruler, there is little air below the paper but much on the upper side, so the air pressures the paper down.. paper increases the area of air pressure.. so pressure × area = more force

9:09 what you said is partially true but it's actually because as the air in the bottle gets hotter the air expands (as atoms are energized with rise in temp) and so the volume in there increases, so the hot air molecules escape the bottle by leaving through the water creating bubbles and the water fills the bottle due to the atmospheric pressure created so the candle floats
wow felt like a nerd typing this
Sorry, I’m about to be even more of a nerd.
UM ACTUALLY 🤓
First of all, the air does expand, but its volume doesn’t increase; the bottle is rigid and therefore its volume is fixed. As a result, it’s the pressure of the air inside the bottle that increases. However, the water entering the bottle has nothing to do with the increase in air pressure or the air leaving the bottle (which it doesn’t; the only increase in pressure is a result of the air being heated). It’s actually quite the opposite. As the area inside the bottle is air tight, no fresh oxygen can come through for the candle to keep burning. So as the candle burns, it depletes the oxygen portion of the air in the bottle, which makes up a significant amount of the initial air pressure inside, which means the air pressure will decrease. Now that the air pressure inside the bottle is less than outside the bottle due to the reduced number of gaseous molecules, the water starts coming in to equalize the pressure. It’s likely this process is also partially caused by the cooling of the air in the bottle when the candle stops burning, which also decreases the pressure.
I am aware that was completely unnecessary, I’m sorry.
Why you straining yourself
@@THE__BLUE That's a great question. If only I knew the answer.
Not true, it's that the oxygen goes away and the water comes to replace it
5:15 it’s the same with iPad’s pencil. For eg in the notes app if you want to create a straight line, just draw a line and hold. It will correct. You can do the same with a circle, a star, arrow and many more
6:28 this one explanation now makes me really want to see Arun do a crash course series
i like how he not only try it but also explain it accurately on whats happening
You know what I love about this video
It's the fact that they take the time to actually go in to depth with some things like further explain instead of just checking the hack and getting it over with
8:08 The hair dryer actually sparks because there are heating coils inside it which get hot when electricity is passed through, But turning on the electricity also starts the back fan which pulls cooler air in from the back ultimately cooling the coils just enough for it to not break or melt but when you cover the back side with a mask it resists the air flow in, triggering this weird mechanism which turns off the hair dryer for some time, Then starts working normally. I suppose it does this so it doesn’t get permanently damaged.
That was kinda long...
Basically a failsafe
Arun: I don't know how this experiment will work.
Also arun: tells the reason better then Wikipedia
The Paper-Ruler experiment has nothing to do with atmospheric pressure, because there is air under the paper too. It happens because of the air resistance - to excelerate a sheet of paper you need to quickly displace all air above it, which is harder than just bouncing a potato itself

The candle trick is just the candles fire taking air minimizing air pressure, which causes the atmosphere to higher the pressure and therefore creating a suction force trying to pull in air, but there’s only water so water goes in
For the hair straightener wine corker trick, it takes 2 frames for the cork to fly off of the bottle, and out of the shot, so please don't try that one at home!
Edit: I take it back, after a closer look at the cork, it's aligned exactly the same way. Looks like it worked, apologies for doubting you!
Honestly, the cutaway returns with the cork nearly out of the bottle, and there appears to be a few "crumbs" of cork on the table ... I think they faked it! Inasmuch as they opened the bottle, returned the cork a little way, then popped it by expanding the air with the hair-straightener. I don't think there's enough air in the bottle to pop the cork. Of course they could prove me wrong by posting the whole clip ...

for the 9:00 no, it has nothing to do with heat, its because the candle is burning away the oxygen, creating a vacuum, and that vacuum is then filled by the water.
9:40 The cool way is to heat it up with hot water, then quickly cool it with really cold water, it shrinks very fast.
8:26 that looks more like he microwaved a glass bottle with a small amount of water in it, then put the tip in cold water. It causes water to be explosively sucked in to the bottle as the steam condenses in a chain reaction. That's why his was explosive, and yours was slow to fill.
