Very impressive recap here, excellent job!! I do have one question: What were the armies of the Brotherhood of Makuta and the Order of Mata Nui like? How big were they and what were they comprised of? There were only about 100 makuta if I remember correctly, and I'd imagine that the OOMN wasn't too big, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense that they have been a hidden organization this whole time.
I imagine the Order had armies comprised mostly of various robots and Rahi species, but likely also various Toa from across the Matoran Universe. As for the Brotherhood, probably mostly Shadow Matoran and paid Dark Hunter mercenaries. At least, that’s what I would ascertain from a quick glance at the BS01 wiki and some general rationalization.

I think that was definitely one of the contributing factors to the 2009 move to Bara Magna. Greg Farshtey had gone so wild with the serials and additional characters (for better and for worse) that by the time planning for 2008 rolled around, there were _way_ too many moving parts to keep the series going in a way that made sense. You had two active toa teams (12 characters including Takanuva), a team of about 10 villains, about a dozen assorted antiheroes and bad guys with unique motivations, another dozen good guys with unique motivations and disconnected adventures...I'm not surprised somebody said "I think we need to step away from this for simplicity's sake."
@@Dudeman23rd There was NOT too much story to keep track of for many of us still, though. Not all of us agree with this sentiment. Not that I don’t love BM. I do. The issue was mediums, how many there were for instance, and how many countries didn’t even have some things like the novels for instance.
It’s almost like a movie and this video is absolutely fabulous. It might sound silly but why the toa Nuba wish to reboot mata nui? I kind of forget the purpose of this….
The original mision was simply to awaken Mata Nui to end Teridax's grip on Metru Nui. However in these later chapters Mata Nui started dying and the mask of life was constantly monitoring the great spirit's vitals. The Mask had a failsafe if Mata Nui died which was to kill everything residing inside Mata Nui if such thing happened. It all started to save their home and ended becoming a fight for their lives.
Was there any trouble with consistency regarding the Makuta's blindness? I have not read all the comics (yet!), however from the footage you put it sometimes seemed like the writers forgot that they were blind and depended on the corrupted av-matoran to see
So usually the Shadow Matoran were around, they’d get a quip or two as the Makuta fought, but for all intents and purposes, the blindness didn’t really affect the story
Dark Mirror would have been the _perfect_ opportunity to release sets featuring Toa Tuyet and Toa Nidhiki, as well as to-scale versions of the Toa Mata and Metru versions of Takua and Kapura. Just saying. But alas, it may have been confusing for people not reading the serials, and instead we got BIONICLE Stars Av-Matoran builds two years later. Still, at least Imagine Dragons composed the perfect theme song for it...after G1 ended: ruclips.net/video/FHp48M8N3J0/видео.html
Btw Rogue One OST really fits Empire Universe ^^ Thrawn's theme when you're talking about collecting artifacts too. It reminds me his office on Chimaera
Ahkmou shouldve became a Toa of Shadow. Botar and Carapar shouldve never died (screw Botar's Replacement, hope his name stays anonymous). Instead, Carapar shouldve been driven insane but became smart in the process, while Botar and Trinuma both survived, with Botar getting his armor damaged and later patched up. Ancient shouldve had some more importance and died properly (killed for being a spy, not for knowing too much). Krika shouldve lived and became a good guy, maybe some other Karda Nui Makuta as well. Toa Mahri shouldve been Toa Inika again and wore their original masks again (meaning Jaller wouldve worn Lhikans Hau again). The Destiny War shouldve been more fleshed out. The City of Silver dimension shouldve been the Red Star. The order of dimensions Takanuva shouldve visited should've been Toa Empire-Kingdom-Red Star, after which he gets to Karda Nui through the Red Star teleporter. City of Silver doesnt exist anymore, its the Red Star now. Core universe Tuyet shouldve been actually dead and instead the Tuyet of the Toa Empire should've faked her death and made her way into the core universe. Icarax shouldve a far larger role in 08 and had been the final boss of 2008. Takanuva should've had a far more important role. Vultraz needed a better end (or at least escape the Melding universe to participate in the Battle of Bara Magna). Zaktan's return should've been foreshadowed in 2008 rather than coming out of nowhere in Reign of Shadows. Vultraz and Mazeka shouldve appeared in the main story. Dont know how to treat Melding Teridax, maybe make him relevant somehow. Wow thats a lot of my 08 criticism i may even have more. Oh wait, the Toa Nuva shouldve looked actually recognizable rather than looking like unrecognizable strangers, and need good weapons, and original color schemes from 2002, as well as eye colors, not have all lime green eyes. Just fix Toa Phantoka and Mistika. Edit: Solek is actually the main protagonist of 08. Hes a god. Hes our king. Hes legendary. Hes better than Tanma. Hail Solek. Hail Solekians.
Vezon has always been my favorite character, kind of a fluke of a being but he’s out there, somewhere, unbound by the universe and it’s heroes and villains
So really, in 2008, the only set-based characters that didn't return were those that were dead - like Sidorak - irrelevant Rahi, Umbra and the Vahki. That's pretty impressive since they even found a way to get the Bohrok a part in the narrative.
@@DuckBricks ah yeah of course I forgot they never stopped Vahki production in the Empire. That’s even more impressive, though also even more surprising that characters like Umbra and Karzhani got left out since they weren’t doing much of anything at the time.
In chapter 7 didn’t you say that tuyet’s dead body wasn’t actually her body or something along those lines when are we going to get elaboration on that (and if I am misremembering please correct me) Great video by the way, takanuva’s multiverse adventure would have made a great filler arc if Bionicle ever had a TV show

The story always made sense to me. I wanted the complexity. And I want more of it.
This is some of the best work ever. This guy did perfect. Thank you man for making these videos🥳
Destiny war is definitely more interesting than infinity war as it features rivaling factions and characters teaming up against Makuta.
It certainly was cool to see previously villainous factions all banding together to defeat him!
Is the destiny war in an alternate universe?
Gat dayum. Good job compressing all this, it is making my head spin 🤪
Happy to help!!
Masterfully done
I got a question, how can one man have such a large heart? you're the real M.V.P. man
Thanks for making this, it's awesome!
amazing you are doing gods work
A toast, in honor of Krika, the most misunderstood person in the Matoran Universe.
To Krika.
great job man you are amazing
This arc is simply magnificent
Dark Mirror would have been the _perfect_ opportunity to release sets featuring Toa Tuyet and Toa Nidhiki, as well as to-scale versions of the Toa Mata and Metru versions of Takua and Kapura. Just saying. But alas, it may have been confusing for people not reading the serials, and instead we got BIONICLE Stars Av-Matoran builds two years later. Still, at least Imagine Dragons composed the perfect theme song for it...after G1 ended: ruclips.net/video/FHp48M8N3J0/видео.html
1:00:49 the exact center of the video
Marvel: Endgame was the best shared universe crossover battle ever
Bionicles: Hold my masks
Wow that was so good I miss my bionicles lol
bruuuuh i forgot to comment this on the last episode but when i got that yellow Toa fish one (HOW DID I FORGET THEIR NAME) i thought he was a bad guy
GIVE US A WELL DONE BIONICLE CINEMATIC UNIVERSE
I never knew about the Suicide Squad parallel when I was younger; hearing it now, makes PERFECT sense.
I so appreciate the Clone Wars style re-caps lol
your recap series is amazing... but i was wandering... did you use Prince of Egypt music? :)
I actually did not, perhaps the Bionicle Heroes music was similar haha
Wow. I forgot that lot of stuff was going on in 2007-2008.
51:40 Toa Ignika's shoulder armor is upside down :p
Btw Rogue One OST really fits Empire Universe ^^
Thrawn's theme when you're talking about collecting artifacts too. It reminds me his office on Chimaera
Haha thanks for pointing that out
Those connections from the themes were exactly what I had in mind when I played them at those parts :)
i love the daredevil theme when makuta takes over the body of mata nui
Glad someone recognized it!
Such good videos
Did anybody notice that the alternetive universes were G2? (Sorry for bad english)
Haha glad someone noticed that Easter egg :)
Wow I 100% agree with basically everything there, these are perfect fixes to the 08 storyline
Vezon has always been my favorite character, kind of a fluke of a being but he’s out there, somewhere, unbound by the universe and it’s heroes and villains
Reunited my Bionicle phase. Now gonna spend all my money on Bionicles
“He needed someone to die without being missed”* Fucking hell that is brutal lol
This is awesome!
Bionicles were such cool and standout figures. A shame it faded into obscurity
Hello I love you're work, now I understand the story of the bionicle
Thank you
Hi duckbricks, is there a way to find the comics mentioning this part of the lore specifically?
35:00
so, we some kinda, suicided squad?
So really, in 2008, the only set-based characters that didn't return were those that were dead - like Sidorak - irrelevant Rahi, Umbra and the Vahki. That's pretty impressive since they even found a way to get the Bohrok a part in the narrative.
Umbra is still alive actually.
@@juliad9715 I know, that’s not what I said. I gave Sidorak as an example of a dead character. I listed Umbra separately.
Yeah, it was pretty crazy with literally everyone involved - and even the Vahki got some shoutouts in the Toa Empire story!
@@DuckBricks ah yeah of course I forgot they never stopped Vahki production in the Empire. That’s even more impressive, though also even more surprising that characters like Umbra and Karzhani got left out since they weren’t doing much of anything at the time.
1:49:30 I used to love Krika's design as a kid but damn I never knew he had such a tragic ending
TWO HOURS! YEESSS!!!
It was a ton of work to make and I hope you enjoy!!
27:50 Good choice using CastleVania music here lol
In chapter 7 didn’t you say that tuyet’s dead body wasn’t actually her body or something along those lines when are we going to get elaboration on that (and if I am misremembering please correct me)
Great video by the way, takanuva’s multiverse adventure would have made a great filler arc if Bionicle ever had a TV show
Yes! That will be addressed next chapter :)
