This was excellent! I love this platform because we can talk about things that you cannot say to people in your own ward. We have adopted so many ideologies of the world that its dangerous to say anything at all without being labeled hateful. And I have 4 kids who are ages 12-17 and they are sick and tired of the "lack of" dress codes and honor codes at the youth activities. They say, we dont even just blend in with the world anymore, we are quite often worse, than the world.

Thank you both. That was amazing. You opened our eyes to so much. You both bring thoughts that add to the whole experience.Your wisdom and testimony give us strength. These are the end times and we need to be strong and faithful to what we know.

Read JST Matthew 24:24. No, the very elect will NOT be deceived. That would mean we would have to worry about the prophet and those who serve with him. The verse says, "IF IT WERE POSSIBLE , they shall receive the very elect." the prophet will never be deceived. I choose to follow the prophet.

I’m finding the more self work I’m doing with the Lord to purge my natural man and work on being celestial the lonelier I feel. I’m finding it harder and harder to find commonalities with other sister who are actively attending church. True discipleship is a lonely road. Satan keeps trying to ask me if it’s worth it. Like no one else is doing it…you are fine. You are doing enough…when I know I still have a ways to go. But I’m not finding a lot of people to even converse on a deep level with. It’s sad.

True discipleship CAN be a lonely road- but there really are others out there who are trying….keep searching for them- even if it’s through online friendship. True discipleship also includes learning to love others in their weaknesses - being patient as they learn and grow at their own individual pace. I am learning that as the Lord softens my heart and opens my eyes to others and their challenges and gives me patience, I can love them even if they’re not yet striving for what I am, but that love makes the road a less lonely place.

I told my kids, as they were growing up, "If you're on a crowded road, turn around. You're almost certainly going the wrong way." I warned them that it can be lonely to choose glory. I think a blessing of the very last days is that there will never be a total apostasy again and there will be people preparing to build Zion. We will find some along the path and the joy will be extra sweet.

Thank you Lili and Harper for another excellent podcast. I am surprised and disturbed about the news that the dress code is lax at FSY. (Where are the parents who usually buy the clothes, in this???) My kids are older now, but when my daughter went to EFY there was a dress code. She and others followed that dress code and they still had a good time. As you know, teenagers don't have fully developed brains and they often need more strict guidelines or more explicit direction in some areas. I get that the Church can't micro-manage everything, but It is hard for me to go along with the "let them choose whatever," when their choices effect both young men and other young women. I am also the mother of boys, and sometimes I would cringe at what their dates were wearing, and pray that my boys could keep their minds where they should be. I am thinking from the young men's comments that you quoted, the young men at FSY would like the girls to be dressed modestly and differently than the rest of the world. Even at church these days, I have seen some of the teenage girls wearing extremely short skirts, and clothes with bare midriffs, straps, and cut-out backs. I know as parents we have to pick our battles, but it seems that modest dress for some, has gone the way of the world. Some people at church say, "At least they're at church." I am also glad that they are at church, but they are being disrespectful of themselves, their ward members, their parents, and their Heavenly Father. What happened to the advice from our Prophet to "Think Celestial." To think Celestial we need to rise above and be better than this Telestial world. How would a Terrestial or Celestial person dress?

Its definitely interesting times. I think it goes back home worship church supported.
At some point i think it falls on us to teach truth, correct our kids where needed and explain why, build our faith and guide our kids to pick Jesus above the world. I tell my kids we see and hear others but we get to decide what we do with this life. Do we follow them? Do we speak up to our friends?
A sweet sister in my ward said to me once, when she was younger she wanted to wear something a little more like the girls around her were. Her mother explained to her, you are a daughter if God who’s goal is the temple. And as such you need to carry yourself as that. It put things in perspective for her and she realized she couldn’t wear those things if her true goal was the temple. I also think talking about how important temple garments are and what they truly signify and us be examples of them. My husband would say, he didnt see the real point of the top G, he gets too hot and uncomfortable. He said he was modest he never would wear a tank top or walk around outside shirtless.
I had to explain to him thats not the true (or only) reason we wear them. Once explained he said he never understood them that way (or maybe forgot) and said he saw a different meaning and desire to wear them. 🤟🏽

I listened to this podcast yesterday and loved it. My question to Harper though is he referring to elderticktok when he was talking about members trying to pick what they like about the church and live that? I follow elderticktok and have been disturbed by some of they things he is putting out there. Jesus engourages us to look up, lift up. We give up sin to become someone better. To many members want to be tolerant and nice and accepting to the world and they are not standing up to the evils of the world. I loved the President Monson quote “The face of sin today, often wears the mask of tolerance”. My own children sadly keep telling me that I can’t say certain things in public or they say they are raising their children to be tolerant of everyone. This makes be sad because they are missing the mark and not truly seeing the danger of their tolerance. I have a gay son. I love him dearly. He has chosen to leave the church and marry his partner. We went to the wedding, we loved him and supported him, but I am now conflicted. I want his relationship. I want him in my life. I will never judge him but I will do my best to be as Christlike as I can when I am around him. Anyway, I am rambling. Thank you for your thoughts and an amazing discussion.

Great discussion! Thank you both! In regards to any kind of youth standards; they have been actively obliterated in our area, worth cheers from many (most?) of the local youth leaders and many of the youth. It's really disheartening. I never thought it would be so hard to help my children learn to love a higher and holier way, despite opposition from *within* the church. Of course I don't believe anyone should be forced, but it's disheartening to be immersed, at church especially, with folks who want to be in lockstep with the world.

Your son’s assumption about why Utah uses so many anti-depressants seems presumptuous in my opinion. As someone who has experienced a lot of depression in my life and have association with many others who have struggled with it, it has never been about how I perceive my life as an lds member. It has more to do with my ability to think clearly enough to do simple tasks like getting dressed or washing my dishes. I don’t fault your son, because when you feel better you really forget how bad it is until you feel it again. And you can have all the training and experience you want, but you won’t really understand unless you’ve been there. I’ve been on the same meds, same dose for 20 years, which allows me to live a pretty normal life. But my daughter has struggled for so many years and has tried so many things and I can’t forget what that’s like. I’m sure he didn’t mean it the way it came across, but I think it’s irresponsible to assume he knows because he happens to be a counselor.

When we were studying with missionaries in 1961 and came across the horses in Americas it was a surprise. In school were taught no horses until Spaniards. Just at that time - tender mercy alert - it was reported, probably Time it had been discovered that horses were here preColumbian in 1957!
Second mercy- it is the flavonoids in dark purple grapes that have the benefits not the alcohol. So a glass of dark grape juice in wine glass is the key.

12:22 they only have theories. because it is only the current theory until it is proven incorrect. And they expect every theory to be proven incorrect so they aren’t surprised when they are.
It’s the theory of relativity not the fact of relativity.

The Antichrist are those who's doctrine does not match the doctrine of God, the bible. The word of God takes authority, after all, He is the author. Also, those who change and add to the scriptures of His word are also not of God. Those who believe Jesus is created and not God.
