I am enjoying Palia, but I can see that in a short time I will have reached my goals and at that time I will look at other games. This is NOT an MMO, we don't have a thriving community because we can't do anything other than craft for ourselves and spend our gold when we earn it, it's a single player game that the Devs want to push as interactive, but they are doing this without giving us the tools for any interaction. I recall some of the vids posted when Palia was first advertised and they kind of implied that you could do what you want, hunt or fish or craft, when in reality you have to do them all to progress, even the main puzzle (bundles) involves a lot of fishing, what if you hate fishing but love gathering or hunting? They are forcing us down this linear path and eventually people will get bored, without some version of trading to keep the world alive then I personally don't think it will succeed long term. Personally I think the systems they have chosen are aimed at longevity of play rather than enjoying your play time, so yes the game is fun in the beginning, but they are definitely missing the mark on retention with these systems in place.
Exactly. I stopped playing because the bundles require SO. MUCH. FISHING. to complete. Like it was an alright system but not when you have to fish 500 times to get what you need.
Thank you! I love the game and really want it to succeed, but some of the things are just... so odd! Crossing my fingers that they fix a lot of these issues in the future somehow!
@@ReallyQueenE Thank you for the good points in this video. While I like the game I think I am going to give it a break for a while until some of the bigger issues are fixed such as rare resources being fought about as there is not enough to share.
I agree 100% with gardening. I remember when I first started playing Palia, I was excited by the idea of logging off, going to sleep, and waking up to all my crops so I can have a major harvest....only to realize they hadn't grown at all. It's especially frustrating now that I'm at the point where I'm growing apple trees to make jam, and they take 12 HOURS to get to their first harvest. My only guess is that they think gardening would be too lucrative if they allowed for offline growing, but imo this game has prices on EVERYTHING. It is so costly to do anything in this game, we NEED ways to earn money, and gardening isn't even that much of a money maker now that the tomato seed mafia has been squashed. Having crops freeze when you log out isn't cozy, it's stressful and disappointing.
Man that was annoying as hell. Especially gotten it so earlier on and can't do anything about it. I think you could bought all the outfits in cash shop lol
Ya, i don't always want to wait for others to break pal nodes. There's a sense of obligation. Having an option that doesn't remove it for others would be great. Larger rewards for party break would feel like incentive, but wo obligation.
Would be nice to auto receive the items you've hit once so that you can walk away and allow others to gather it too. From a social standpoint, if you wait for others in proximity maybe you get a slight additional bonus in reward material
And like, what is the POINT of the nerfs????? To make people just be forced into grinding more??? For what reason? Not everyone has hours upon hours every day to play!
@@cathmorr89 in the reddit ama a few days ago. I saw something in discord about some changes to it already but that is second hand. They said directly that they're planning to bring down the amount you can earn off cake parties in the ama though
Bruh, they have nerfed SOOO MANY gold making options into the ground. It's just gross at this point. Hunting=Nerfed. Gathering=Nerfed. Mining=Nerfed. Fishing=Nerfed. Bug Catching=Nerfed! Hell, even Gardening got Nerfed!
@@static2601 you kinda have to spam F when your near a chappa because it doesnt register or the interact point isnt actually were you see the chappa all the time.
@@static2601 I only hit F if I run after a chappaa and be near to him. 😃 mostly Kenli is in the way. Or the chappa that appears on the marketstreet and I speak accidentally to Delaila. Often people stand on special places and spam F so I try to get the ones running on the street. 😅 (Sorry English isn’t my first language).
Flow tree needs more drop amount imo. I wish the nodes increase the amount when theres more people. Makes waiting worth while. Feel like upgrading/leveling doesnt really effect your income
I completely agree. To gather 50 flow tree wood I needed to find 20-25 trees and it took a couple of hours to do that even with a cutting party going on for an hour of my search. 50 flow wood makes what? One or two pieces of the high level furniture? And if we don't like the furniture too bad resources completely wasted? Very frustrating at best.
@@ReallyQueenE Well one easy solution to the question : The less resources, the more someone has to play to get what they want. The more they play, the higher their play time is and makes management/investors happy in early dev. And that is because the more playtime, the more chance there is someone would become a paying customer. Sadly, the game look a lot like they need money fast, or a cash grab. And I hope for the sake of friends who really want to play it, when it gets better, it isn't just that.
After playing for a couple of weeks, I feel like this should have been a single player game like Rune Factory or Story of Seasons. I'm sure there are some benefits to it being an MMO but now they're stuck forever trying to earn money to keep development and the servers running. But like you said, I'm already feeling like I don't really need to play the game much anymore. I just gave one of the NPC's chocolates and I am enjoying the interaction with the NPC's. I love how intricate the dialogue is and how you need to talk to others to find out what some people want. Or right now I'm on a quest where I need to befriend one of the NPC's so I can infiltrate their room and look for an item. I think all that is very cool and fun. However, unless I want to keep decorating my house just for the sake of decorating my house, there isn't much for me to do. I basically just log on, take care of my farm, talk to some people, then either do random stuff or completely log out of the game for about an hour until it's the next day then do it again.
I wish the devs would also tweak the housing system a bit too. I found Connecting the housing sections together very frustrating because of the inability to rotate them and because rooms wont snap together on more than one side even if the math works out. For instance, if you try to connect 2 rooms that are already snapped in place that are 9' apart with 3 sections of 3' x 3' hallway, the hallway will not connect to the second room-it doesn't work. Why? Also, my biggest complaint about the clothing paywall is that it is preventing tailoring from being a skill and with leather and silk and thread in the game, tailoring should be a thing. It feels like a big, missing hole and a missed opportunity.
Thank you! I of course don't expect any of this to get implemented immediately either, but they are some huge pain points for me so I really hope they at least get addressed at *some* point 😔
And on palium & flow trees: I like idea that you get extra resources for grouping up. But I don't want to be a necessity. It bugs me to no end to party up with chaotic randoms for a flow tree. Same with palium. I see it - I mine it. Unless someone is running towards it, then I'll wait for them to get a hit too. But beyond that I can't be bothered with callouts and chaos. It takes too much time and mental energy I'm a bit of a homebody and only really play with a few friends. I'd be totally down if this was a complete single player game, or something similar to Valhall (in terms of single & multiplayer) I also want to have off center doors & windows ...
I agree with like ALL of this! I'm so confused about what kind of game they are actually trying to make at the moment. And I'm disapointed because as you said at the end I think Palia has A TON of potential and its REALLY fun at the start, but as these things start adding up end game it starts feeling sadly more tedious/frustrating than fun and cozy. I hope they see this and impliment these things and several of the things in the comments as well. There are so many fun ideas in the feedback of their discord and places like this! Palia can be a really fun sucessful game! I really hope they take the time to listen to their community and those of us rooting for it! 💜
I feel like S6 needs to take notes of how Sky: Children of Light handles their big seasonal event and their items/wearables. Like, Sky gives free players the chance to get some of the new items by saving event tickets and participating in daily events or collecting tickets. And it's easy for those who can only play for a few minutes to an hour. Sky does their premium shop well imo and is the only other "mmo" I have seen it pull it off!
They need to have a fast travel board you can place on your plot. They also need to not make it take unlocking 3 useless house plots before the gazebo becomes available.
The amount of issues with Palia is just climbing higher than my blood pressure. Its progressively driving me up the wall.. more successfully than climbing in this game. Getting stuck while cooking, having to quit each time which would burn the meal and money/resources until I found out just to double tap "H". Climbing is cancer. Chappa chase is aids with everyone just stood at the spawn points. I sometimes load in as a T posing, headless gray mannequin and rendered useless till I restart the game or get lucky fast traveling. Lag is getting progressively worse like a case of herpes. If you misplant something... lets wait a week before we can rearrange the farm. Placing things while decorating can make them spawn outside floating in the air. They cant add a simple door to the house without breaking any decorations you try to put on it. Flow trees spawning outside of the map like a flailing dick in the wind that I cant touch. The chat is getting taken over by scammers and hackers or idiots "selling gold" which isn't even possible. I'm sure I'm missing a few issues but this game has more desync than Halo Infinite and that's fucking saying something. But its ok guys! They are "looking into it".... but buy this cat and if you want a speck of individuality in your character ya gotta spend money on bland clothes you'll only get bored of in a day or two till you spend more to get more while the game is as one dimensional as Hassians personality and almost just as empty.
Very much agree with all of this. I really hope the devs listen and improve the game because I at least want palia to be good. Palia is one of the few cozy games that have a relatively low point of entry, since it’s a pc game (and f2p but personally I would’ve been fine if it was b2p even with the cash shop) with no need for expensive concole like most of it’s ”competitors” like animal crossing and recent zelda games. What makes this whole thing even more frustrating is that palia genuinely has a really good base, all the core mechanics are there and they’re GOOD it just needs polish and the devs need to stop treating palia like it’s a fortnite or overwatch and more like an mmo lifesim that it is. I would also add that a dye system would imo be a big QoL improvement over the swatches we currently have. It would also allow for a new crafter type (maybe an alchemist?) to make your own dyes using the plants and incects we already have in the game. They could even monetize more special type of dyes like some other games do, where things like textured dyes (ie. Metallic, velvet, leather, etc) could be sold in the cash shop. This would add tons of extra customization to the rather barren one we currently have and as long as the regular *earnable* dyes were plenty in colors, I doubt anyone would complain.
I only recently started playing Palia, and I love it so far, but I also agree with everything you've said. It has so much potential, so I hope the devs work out the issues! (The limited clothing bothered me as soon as I logged in, it was pretty disheartening to see that there's no possible way to get new clothing other than through real money :( )
3:29 had to stop immediately and say how much I NEED this in game . 10:54 this as well!! There’s also been tons of times where I call it, wait an extended amount of time with nobody calling they’re on the way, do a last call & wait another minute or two. I’ll break when nobody responds or shows and get yelled at for being selfish. The whole thing with sharing resources like flow and pallium at this point just seem like a hassle that I’m starting to get annoyed with doing.
When I find palium I do the same. Call out, wait for responses, ask again if anyone is coming, if I still have no responses I'm breaking it and it's on them for not calling. I just get mad at people for not waiting when I say "omw" on chat and they don't wait, especially if I teleport to the place and they say in chat 5 secs later that the tree or palium is gone. I mean, I don't say anything but I get mad and makes me not wanting to share the next time I find something.
@@cristela4034 or when other people swoop in and take it while the original person who called it out is waiting for the people who said omw. And then the original person gets hate for saying "oh, it's gone now" b/c the assumption is they were the one that took it (I've seen more of that than of people not waiting who called it out, ymmv)
@@ReallyQueenE what really gets me with this game is... palium tools aren't even needed for anything. so why bother. to just very slightly be more efficient in mining rocks? no thanks
@@aurhiaseelund yeah, that happened to me too. I just say "sorry, someone else took it". Can't stop other people from being jerks, but most wait with me when they see there are people on the way.
Great points with proper suggestions for improvements! There is a lot they can do to improve and I hope they do before launch. The wall climbing annoys me a lot when I hit invisible walls. The one point I slightly disagree with is the crops growing while offline. I do have a bit of OCD so if only the crops adjacent to a water providing plant grew, everything would start growing out of sync and would frustrate me. This could be fixed if it had a sprinkler system you see in other cozy sims like Stardew. But for now, I like the crop system. When I leave and when I come back, it is exactly like how I left it. I don't have to worry about having a specific layout. The fact that it sort of freezes in time and after a month I come back and it's exactly how I left it, that to me IS cozy. No worries no stress no fomo.
I'm in that place you mentioned. Max storage, max upgrades, decorated my house and max gold. 2 days after I had all of that done I haven't logged back in because doing so seems pointless. There is nothing to work towards and I can't even work on hoarding mats for a future update that could use them because..... storage space. So, I guess this is what they wanted and I'll play other games until some future update grabs my interest
I also think the world building falls apart when everyone talks about Bahari Bay being this giant city with ball game tournaments, a duchess, famous bands, famous fashion designers, and the Order I believe. Yet when you travel to Bahari Bay there’s also this open space and only Najuma, Hodari, Tamala, Hassian, and Tau live there. It destroys people’s imagination. If only they mentioned some other town.
Bahari City is to the north of Bahari Bay. We're not allowed out of these two zones yet lore-wise because the Watchers are trying to decide if we're a threat. With the assumption that in future content patches we will be getting the Elderwoods, Bahari City, and another zone to the south whose name I have forgotten, something Meadows. Eshe actually gives directions to all three zones so I would say it's safe to assume they're near-future content.
@@stellalecarde4657 I won't give any spoilers then on anything else to do with them, but think of them like the FBI, and we are currently being contained in a small area to assess if we're dangerous. That's mentioned a couple times in regular village dialogue but I forget who by.
I feel a little this way as well. The Chappa chase is nothing but a frustrating play and I won't be able to buy any of the things they made us all excited for.
i went to that event and did the quest. tried teh cappa chase event, but i gave up, not enogh chappas to get any of the objectives filled. only stressed me out
I think the main issue for me personally is the lack of visual progression for free to play players. I'm all about the grind life and cozy feeling and genuinely like the flow of the game. The main thing however that turns me away from wanting to continue is knowing that no matter what I do or how far I progress, I will never see that transformation in my character. That's not to say Palia doesn't have progression, it clearly does in the forms of tools and housing (as well as other things), but that isn't a substitute for something like clothing. Knowing that the only way my character will visually "progress" or change is through the cash shop made me not want to put in the time or effort.
Crafting....when making arrows for instance I don't want 20 arrows I want 300. Add a slider to crafting. Not forget what I crafted and have to open a menu box and scroll down every single time!
Solid points. I feel this game needed to cook for another year to iron out all the bugs, team goals, balancing, and decorations. I feel that the Switch version will release into what this is essentially: An Early Access game. This game needs more goals, more npcs, more areas, more decorations, better housing, better teamplay rewards and incentives, etc. On the topic of storage and house limitations it makes sense on the server side to have a limit until they get a better understanding on the amount of people who are interested in playing this game. Personally I'd like more storage space in anticipation for future content's tiers of material gathering, farming variety, animal produce, and worker orders. The next community Q&A people should ask them about it and how this whole system works. As for money limitation, I feel it is ok to have 300k the limit for now. I've played games that have a weirdly low money cap. Such games weren't a money focused game like Palia and other cozy games, but I still was able to buy everything there was to buy without any issue. NPC and player vendor prices revolved around the small cap, and money was given to players frequently by just engaging in group activities. I was always at the money cap so I was constantly engaging with the game by finding things to buy that I normally would've written off as non-optimal or not worth it. It lead me to try out other things, other builds, different fashion. Eventually I had bought everything that was worth getting (and more) within 4 months of casual 1~5 hours play a day. And with no goals left I dropped the game right there. I feel that increasing Palia's gold cap to a Million or higher right now creates more issues with product balancing, event reward pricing, and player engagement. Time and effort that could be spent on other things. A person on the subreddit calculated that to buy everything from Maji Market costs 166,620 gold. Something that could be easily covered with a few cake parties. With 4~ hours and a shipping bin full of cakes, you make 260k gold. The devs have a ton of work ahead of them to not only keep this game fun, but also to keep it Engaging. I understand people want to see big money number go high. I understand people do not like to see nerfs or see It harder to obtain something. But this MMO has a goal to keep players Engaged for several months in between content updates. For this small studio I fear that large content updates will take up to a months to ship, and events or expansions 4+ months. A ton of time in between to max out everything. But don't get me wrong. I do see the money cap as something to revisit many months down the line when the game has a better foothold on what it wants to do.
Quests: Agree with the lack of info being a pain with Maji market. More flavour text is good too. Fast Travel: Using just the names is not cluncky, it's streamline. It's a small clean menu to quickly select your destination instead of navigating several maps (more over time). However, a map button for those that need it would be a really good idea. It's in no way expensive, not even slightly. By the time you dip into Bahari you should be more than capable of paying the 25g for the stable outward journey and the tiny 10g to get home. Only time I have ever used the 50g travel is when someone calls out a node, which is current mid/end game tbh. Backspace: Yea, I get this... I understand the system is meant to feel good and freeing when you unlock the bigger bags. But there is a LOT of additional carry in the game. MiniMap: Yea, I agree here too. I personally don't need/want it. But I understand that the compass is not a cozy friendly mechanic. Gardening: I agree here too! I only just recently realised they didn't grow when offline! I took it as a given that they did, seems intuative that they would! Tokens: Seems ok to me, I think it is meant to be a (current) mid/end game grind. Something to keep players engaged when they have completed the content. They might add more here later, easier ways to get tokens as well as more expensive items. Clothes: Yes, shoes slot would be nice. I only (watching your video) realised you could mix n match clothes... Not really a huge issue for me personally but I can absolutely agree for those that want it. I understand why the clothing is limited. It's their ONLY money making in game. AND they give plenty of options for free. Although, this is coming from the guy that didn't even notice you could mix n match... so... I strongly disagree with "cash grab" conserning the monetisation. It's far from, in fact I think it might fail completely due to it's monetisation not being enough. On this front I assumed they would sell furniture too, but you get a ton of furniture for free. Multiplayer: Yes, totally agree here. Could be more mini games. Fishing together could attract a shoal of fish, which in turn could attract bigger fish. I mean maybe in time?? Not a fan of party gains for hunting (or anything) unless very localised. Otherwise you will invite optimal players to ruin it for everyone else, think chapaa hunt. A party could dominate a map and reap all resources. I'm led to believe that if you shoot towards a target (even if missing) you can get drops from it. This seems like a very good middle ground to me. You can, and I do co-op with others in hunting, especially less skilled players. I let them take their shot first and snipe the kill after for both to get drops. Resource bonus for mining together would be a really good idea. Ping features outside of party isn't possible, it's open to abuse. This is why you need to party up. In theory, your ping idea for nodes sounds great, lots of fun and really useful. But again open to abuse from more annoying players. Proximity group for chapaa hunt is a great idea. (Not sure how it would work for other things mentioned though) There will always be a competitive element, even if you atempt to avoid it. Players will almost always optimise the fun out of a game, their own fun or the fun of others. The economy: I think the economy in Palia is still finding itself. I don't think people were meant to reach the high priced stuff so easily. The playerbase has already learned how to optimise money making. I think it will remain a work in progress for a while. As far as a trading market, I personally don't want it. I want this game to be brave enough to find a good solution that is outside the box of conventional MMOs. Not sure what that looks like yet, but that is what I want to see. Maybe if we get community spaces, we can have little stalls within those for players to sell their wares?
@@ReallyQueenEagree with you. Really tired of the forced sharing in palia. Resources should be changed so that they are seen by each person individually. People are sick of having to wait around for others for 15 minutes and do call outs.
Thank you so much for this brilliant feedback video! One thing that ails my soul, is how we can't make slow food. Why would we have fun in the kitchen, when we are stressed and anxious because of the timer and messing up the dish? Making dinner and desserts in a "cozy game" should and could be easeful, colorful, creative and comfortable. Not another competition. I do not want to compete, I want to create and learn to live in community. Please at least give us options, S6. Cheers.
I love the game so far. This past week I even lost weight bec I work out, work, eat and play Palia lol. Maybe they have this stuff coming down the line but to me they missed hella obvious opportunities. For example why don't we have rare spawn events? Example, fishing. everyone can see it on the map and has to run over and fish in the area. If i want to grind resources and sell furniture at the market, other players should be able to grind for money to buy it like a real community instead of purchasing stuff at the store (stores should still have basic needs incase you get a quiet server). We have eggs, butter and milk... why can't I have chickens or cows? I also think rare resources should be more plentiful. I almost never get any unless ppl are nice enough to call out and wait. They need to add stamina food, and something to grind the wheat into flour. Idk how they missed that. It always bugs me when games are designed around inventory but they never give you enough space. Please let me be a horder in peace lmao. Im on the fence about the cooking... there needs to be a way to cook solo... not everyone wants to or can find ppl to help, but i love the mini game. I personally play games like this to be alone and relax, it would be nice to give us both options and keep it chill. I'd spend money for cool things outfits, recipes, rare crops or furniture items (skins). I pray that they add RP animations. If I go into the bar it would be nice to see the npcs drinking or be able to walk up and order a drink and talk to ppl. It would be nice to actually use the tubs sinks and bed
I 100% agree with EVERYTHING Specially the mini map and the multiplayer/resources issues which are less likely to change compared to inventory sorting I feel bad when I mine Pallium alone and I shouldn't feel like that just because I don't feel like chatting and waiting 5 minutes for others to slowly arrive to the spot. What's even worse, sometimes you are forced to wait if you are with someone else there who invites more people. C'mon, guys, pallium is not even that rare if you specifically look for it on its fixed spawns.
Extremely fair assessment and I couldn't agree more with everything you've said. There are many arbitrary things that were decided that don't make sense, like the gifting system being so overly limited, where we can't even ask a gift of something that we haven't already got ourselves and our IRL friends can't choose what they want to gift to us, only we can request things or the strange coin limits, both to gold and skill coins. I don't know why we can only have 9 plots of farm land or there is a limit of 15 crafters you can have if you purchase every limit increase or many other things... it is extremely annoying to have those weird limits imposed on us that quite literally mean there is a point you won't be able to grow at all anymore which makes the game both less fun and less interesting to progress. I really hope Singularity 6 makes a lot of changes to things like that and actually LISTENS to the community like, you know, Larian did with Baldur's Gate 3 and became the most successful game release in recent times.
Each point is totally valid. I'm not maxed out on everything, but maxing stuff just for the grind is not really my thing. I'm really hoping for more story and lore to happen, because that is what I'm here for. I also hope that the relationship system sees more updates in the feature. It's so much fun learning about the charcters while doing their friendship/relationship questlines, but when they're at level 4, any interaction with the villagers becomes pointless (unless you just want those achievments for gifting etc.). Personally, I am still flirting with Kebyatta after romance 4 because she's the coolest cat in town. Also, the "shepp" thing. Everybody makes it such a big deal, it's a lot of responsibility, yada yada yada. So you've finally made it and found your shepp, you get your party and ... that's it? No further refernce to it, nothing changes in your relationship to that charcter, it's just a quest done and that's it. (at least so far)
Yeah, I would absolutely love to see more. Both with the Shepp thing and the romance thing. Like, even in an MMO, it would still be possible to like, marry someone or something. They could hang out on your housing plot. In other words, still be out and about with their usual schedule for everyone else, but in your private server that is your housing plot, be there as well. I guess it might be difficult with pathing and stuff due to so many variances in decoration and furniture placement, but still.
So far Palia has felt like "Stardew, but 3D!" with a couple MMO ideas thrown in. I'm really enjoying the villagers as characters (moreso than Stardew, in fact). Flow trees are a really neat idea that I'd love to see mimicked for all the skills. I'd like to see some more MMO ideas implemented as they get to the final "real" launch. I'm holding judgement mostly with this being a beta, but I do rather dislike the cash shop being fully functional while everyone is essentially acting as free labor beta testers.
That chapaa chase gave me anxiety.... until I quit running around and just hung out at 1 spawn spot. Otherwise my game lags bad and i lose all the chances I have. I feel it is too competitive for the style of game Singularity 6 said they are going for???
Same, I lack the coordination for running so I started to camp on a spawn spot and catch like 5 a chase. But other players hate campers even though they catch more anyway, and some times I have players running circles around me or have their characters glued to mine just to annoy me.
I agree with all your points. In addition to that, I'd suggest; 1. Unlimited Home TP, basic QoF feature that fits in a cozy mmo. There's no benefit to be running home for the 1000th time. 2. Craft x amount at once. It's painful to reopen the crafting menu each time. 3. Tools give extra xp/resources while in good condition, and when they break they don't downgrade, but only lose that buff. 4. A true world map where all zones are shown and how they are connected. 5. Better legend showing where npcs and services are. 6. Pathfinding that shows a walkable path to the destination like in Black Desert Online.
Yep totally true. The garden needs to grow when your offline . Verry big yes. All other things go on when your offline like seed machines etc etc. Ammo pouch would be perfect or make the normal bags bigger. And i don't like the Chappaa hunt. That can be better. Your true on a lot of your points.
My biggest frustration is with Farming. I have been playing since the 2nd week of "Closed Beta" with a full time job. And, I am struggling to get the coins for apple seeds. They should have xp when you water a crop (1xp per tile) and then higher xp when you harvest (scalable xp based on crop level x number of tiles). Gardening isn't just about picking fruit. There are so many steps to make it work and a time gate. So there should be more points in the task where you gain xp. Palium should heal like the trees. This would allow you to create a gathering group like we do with the trees.
I agree on all the points you touched. Speaking of the crafting system, I would love to be able to sort for a piece/ammo/etc that I am looking for, as well as being able to set a quantity to craft. It is, again, tedious to have to craft one set, reopen the menu, scroll to the item, click craft, then do it all over again. There is also the issue of Elouisa's level 4 quest not being triggered after you hit the max. How is anyone supposed to know you are to go meet her in her room around midinight to start it? Anyway, There are many things that I feel like the developers have not really thought out for the genre they chose.
Very well done, and I agree about 98% with everything you said. With the same disclaimer you used, **I love playing Palia** and it is currently my favorite game of this genre. The resource nodes are absolutely frustrating - especially Iron. You have to run around for HOURS just to find maybe 80 iron ... which smelts down to 16 bars, which you can use up on just a couple items of furniture! And due to the LIMITED (read: small) inventory you have, you have to run home all the time to dump out all the other stuff you pick up along the way. Some items you need to carry should have separate inventory space: Ammo (arrows/smoke bombs), worms, food, quest items - so you have room to pick up mushrooms, flowers, spices, wild garlic, wood (flow and regular), stone, pallium, iron, copper, silver, gold, flint, etc etc etc for crafting/cooking. As for a mini map... GAWD YES! I really don't need a whole big circle at the top of the screen to tell me if it's day or night - that's what the clock is for. I appreciate the little direction arrow to the left of that day/night display but that day/night thing is pointless and COULD be much more useful as a mini map (that shows party members). Another "pet peeve" is that crafted items have misleading descriptions... such as a "merchant cart" that I crafted excitedly, thinking that I'd actually be able to SELL crafted items. Nope. It's just decorative. Kitchen pantries and cupboards... can I actually STORE just food items in those? Nope - just decorative. We keep seeing all this messaging that Palia is supposed to be a wonderful "community" game (stick a pin in that)... but there's precious little we can do with other players. Why can't we trade with players? Why can't I make furniture that I've worked hard to level up to and sell, or trade it, to another player that might enjoy cooking more than I do? There is no "player economy". Now I said "stick a pin" in the "wonderful community because it needs to be mentioned here that for the most part, Palia DOES have a wonderful community - it's one of the friendliest ones I've seen in an "MMO". Players help each other, players share nodes (for the most part), there no drama in chat.... so that deserves a mention in my comment. I do get a bit tired of spending HOURS hunting (along with everyone else that knows where the "hot" spots are), planting (sometimes days), or fishing in order to sell enough stuff just to turn around and spend all those coins on a house upgrade, or just a ridiculously expensive rug at the black market. Speaking of hunting... why is it that now that I have the best bow and using the best arrows, I STILL have to shoot the Sernak and Chapaa in Bahari Bay multiple times? I thought progression would mean I would actually get better? Or at least every time I "level" up past Level 10, shouldn't that mean something? Again, I love this game so much and I'm not just here bashing on it. If I hated it I wouldn't be here at all. But I want to see it succeed too! They have done a LOT of things "right" and it's a great start.... but it definitely needs some "fine tuning" at this point (or at least "soon"), IMO. Thanks for a great video, QueenE - and for very realistic feedback!
Started playing it because of some friends that were enjoying it. The event is atrocious if you aren't in the USA (by the servers), when people can grab stuff before it even spawns or when they are "behind" you on your screen. I dislike that they are even saying this is "beta", maybe "early access", but if you are allowing people to spend real money on the game already then it isn't a beta game, it is released. Hopefully more of the MMO type stuff gets released, trading especially, and why are so many items unable to be sold.. like what is the point of crafting all the furniture.. I can't sell it, trade it, I can just trash it. I also am glad it ends fairly quickly.. but having chat options for each npc every Palia day is crazy.. I do not want to talk to them every hour in order to increase the friendship meter and it raises so slowly. Could be a good game as a co-op rpg, but it isn't a mmo.
Seconded an MMO needs to have some flexibility for free players for prolong play. I'm playing an old MMO thats almost 15 years old now and having a free option helps people get into the ecosystem of becoming paid players
It's not a chompaa race. It's a “don't click an NPC or you lose” race. I've yelled a few obscenities. We have to run so many to get the event items. It's painful. I want to add that this is a beta and a beta is not early access. A lot of new gamers are so used to early access and expect more. All these problems are normal beta issues. The quest text or any text actually is usually added at the end, I don't know why, I just know it will be there later.
On point! I think marketing it as Shared World vs MMO might have been more appropriate. (I guess both terms can be interchangeable lol) To me it just sounds more fitting. Also for In Game Purchases they could have new gliders, emotes, color palettes or patterns on clothing be micro transactions. Which could then open up the ability to craft clothing and still gain revenue and support. I totally would pay for new gliders. Also why can’t we raise animals…or swim…😫. Again it is Beta so maybe one day we can raise animals or swim.
Everything you've said here is 100% spot on. I suspect that there's a larger game in the wings that is going to make sense of some of the things, but some of them, I can't picture how they fit into that together. Like the gold cap plus the high costs of everything. One or the other, yes, but not both at the same time. I would add, in that vein, that where there are upper limits, they need to be displayed. For instance, where it does show it on the gold, there's apparently a cap on placed items in housing plots. There's no indication anywhere what that cap is or how close you are to it.
100% i also accidentally made too many storage boxen because I didn't realize i had already placed 8 🥲 and now that's just wanted resources because you can't disassemble or sell housing items either lmao
I recently started playing, and its frustrating to have to commit so much time to being online to see any progress. I agree with this whole video. I was so disappointed about tje clothing options.
I play GW2 were you have personal nodes. If you take part of an event everyone gets the same reward. It is so less stressfull and competetiv. In Palia the only activity where you really need other players are flow trees. Maybe this is why the game doesn't feel like a mmo.
To be fair, some of these problems that you pointed out have been addressed by devs in the most recent patch notes. As far as the medals - why does everyone have to get everything so fast... it's not that bad to save up a week or two or three to buy some. Also, I have no problem paying for clothing when the rest of the game is FREEEE.... no up front cost. I think it is a little entitled asking for everything to be free, clothing in the game is vanity... therefore it is the one thing they can and should ask to pay for. I'd rather pay for that then something that impacts game mechanics... which you would also complain about... so decide we either pay up front for the game.... we deal with horrible gameplay mechanics being tied behind paywalls, we pay a sub fee, or you have to buy clothing....
I never said I think everything should be free. I said there needs to be valid incentives for players to keep playing and fun rewards for achieving ingame goals. There are multiple games who has a thriving cash shop with amazing cosmetics AND rewarding gameplay!
I completely agree with everything you said... I actually stopped playing palia 4 days ago coz I got bored... they really need to make alot of what you said a priority to ensure this game's survival in my opinion... and they need to do it fast coz alot of people dont pick up a game again once they get bored with it.
Agree with you in absolutely ALL the points! You even brought up things I didn't realise were so inconvenient haha. Really really hope they change things, specially encouraging group activities since the game feels way too competitive, as you mentioned. The maji market event feels so so wrong in so many ways, if this is the monthly content we'll be getting I'm not playing another month.
Can confirm the toxicity of the limited nodes or rare animals. People had a full blown conniption over someone accidently letting an arrow fly at a rare animal and it just flooded the chat.
3:58 that was the first thing I thought when I first started playing. The day-night cycle currently showing is so useless. All you need is the time, which is already displayed. A mini map would make much more sense, given how many damn times I have to open the map to look where I am going.
I want to take this video, post it in their feedback, and rapidly tap on it Lmfao. SUCH GOOD FEEDBACK, and I agree with everything. Tbh, I have a personal rule that I only spend money on a game if they treat their free players well and listen to their community. I feel that I won’t be playing this game for long.
Thank you! There is for sure more things that could be improved, these were just some of my personal biggest frustrations in game right now (and i didn't want to accidentally make a 3 hour video, haha!)
you highlighted absolutely everything i've been thinking. i'm hopeful that the devs will listen to our feedback though and can't wait to see the game improve and grow
@ 6:15 - S6 gave an official answer about the cosmetics in the AMA. They said they have ZERO intentions of adding free clothing in any capacity, only cash shop. Also, they have no current plans for more pets of any sort. @ 10:05 - S6 also said in the AMA that they are working on a grid system for the map for better call outs. "Please look forward to it in a future patch." OOh, you're opt in idea for the nodes is great. @ ??; lost the time stamp] My thought on the chapaa chase competion is that it should have been individual client side chapaas, bonus tickets for the collective total, and further bonus points for the leaderboard scores. Still competitive while still cozy and cooperative. That way no one is "stealing" points. I don't even want to play the chase any more because it sucks to do bad because it's demoralizing because I need SO MANY tickets, but it also sucks to do well, because every chapaa i get i feel like I've "stolen" from someone else just trying to do the same thing as me. which is so funny to me because their comment on the ticket price vs gains is "it’s important to us that all players can have a good experience engaging with Maji Market. We want all players to walk away with a wide variety of new items" ???? your idea about proximity parties is super cool. @ 13:50 - tHe eCoNoMy: They also said in the AMA that they are trying to "maintain the value of the in game currency over time" by making it take longer to obtain useful upgrades, because (as one particular dev said) "I stop playing games when my currency income removes the friction point of decision making regarding currency." So they are purposely inflating people's play time by making gold harder to earn because of their personal gaming choices. Effectively admitting that they know they don't have the content to keep people engaged in their game that they think chasing gold items is the only "long" term content they have at the moment. The gold cap heavily plays into this too; They want to "keep the overall economy within a certain range." The economy was also their excuse for not being able to sell furniture. Said they recognize this is a highly requested feature but it will take "a lot of discussion about how to implement this correctly." They didn't comment on the inventory cap, but I would imagine it also plays into this. They're purposely handicapping players to extend play time. Also, just for funsies, They mentioned that they were nerfing gold gains and maintaining firm on the exorbitant gold prices and cap because they want to "support players that are engaging at the highest thresholds with the game, earning many times the amount of gold per week than most players" and give them "chase items that the majority of players will not earn." (so they're balancing their solo economy around the top 5% playtime players). And while they have nerfed several solo aspects of the game (such as: foraging, hunting, fishing, gardening, hunting again, campfire cooking, and hunting again), they enjoy the idea of cake parties and have no plans to nerf that because they think it's neat. Which is mind boggling because the solo content is a time and energy and material sink for mere pennies, meanwhile cake parties are dropping hundreds of thousands of gold in minutes, for little to no resources. It's practically duping items for gold. (like literally, you don't even have to bring ingredients; you just participate in someone else's cake party! and you get cake!) There's a lot of other really weird and frustrating design choices in the game that I just don't understand. Honestly, it feels like some of these devs don't even play games. It feels like a lot of Palia's features were not run through a QA play test by actual gamers. Which doesn't make sense because they've got experienced devs from Blizzard and Riot. and I'm so sad about the way they're approaching this game. I loved it immediately. But the more I played and the more they talked, the more I lost hope that Palia is a game i can play long term. Every official statement they've made seem just left of center or completely off the board in regards to the players wants.
this game came across my attention some years ago, and i just freshly installed and began playing it 2 days ago, something i think you may want to think about is UI as well, specifically the UI for crafting, its a huge mess of just 1 singular scroll bar, and 4 different options to scroll through that really dont break it up we need Categories along with respective sub catagories, an example for a main Category being Furniture, then its sub Categories would be Chairs, Couches, etc. also include a button that allows you to see only what you can craft based off the materials you currently have, as well as a search bar if you already know what you wants name. It may be helpful to also include a magnifying glass icon on items you dont have and have a tip saying which region or show a picture of the area you might find such materials more easily.
I agree with the points you have made in this video... Well done 👍 I'm not sure how this game will turn out, but I fear that something I read about many of the devs and consultants hired come from free to play mobile farming games, if that is true then it might not turn out the way most of us want - Heck I wouldn't mind paying a small monthly server fee, they could still have their cash shop, but it should be much lower prices for the items there. Palia is on paper a great idea, it has interesting mechanics, basically it is a good foundation for a good game, but oh boy it needs a lot of work. I started in closed beta and had 2 real life friends + 1 online friend joining me when it went into open beta, none of them are playing anymore, there were several reasons for this which I 100% agree with... - Update 0.166 pretty much destroyed lighting and took away a lot of immersion from the world, but also on the housing plot, colors look washed out and nighttime is almost as bright as day, they did fiddle a bit with it calling it a fix for those that got a headache, but colors still looks washed out and it still is way too bright especially at nighttime, it was pretty good before that update. - Only 1 server location(North America) seems to cause a lot of problems, I can't speak for other people, but for us being located in EU it can cause some serious issues... Chapaa chase where people appear to be able to grab one infront of you while being far behind, laggy cooking where game sometimes doesn't respond to keypress (F) and also can get out of sync with mouse clicks + the ever lasting getting stuck in a recipe having to double tap H to be able to move again. And of course as you mentioned, it doesn't really feel like a work together mmo, this can off course change over time,I am still playing, but I also understand my 3 friends leaving again saying that this game may have potential, but is currently in a too rough place, I hope for the best of this game, but fear the worst... Palia devs, prove me wrong, because there is a good foundation, but it needs a lot of changes and more content 😉
I have had no issues with the bag space. I actually found that they gave you a lot of bag space when first starting out and made the first and second upgrade super easy to get.
I agree with you 100%. Right now the game doesn't feel cozy but an endless money grind without actual and meaningful reward. I guess that's the mmo part in the game :p
At first I was a little leary by the title of this video, but yeah, all of these points are extremely valid, and I absolutely agree. Here's hoping they find a way to address these issues.
7:22 another solution for the clothing situation could be, that they don’t give you as many options to begin with. Now hear me out if all the clothes I see on screen here are immediately unlocked after downloading the game, you could just change that and pick a few options that would be available at the start, while others (idk more pretty options) could be earned by accomplishment (played 50h/ friends with 5 players…) or challenges. That way you actually can “earn” more clothes while not having to design more for the game and making that particular feature gameplay accessible
I agree with all of the things you mentioned in this video. While I play.. which isn't often as I work full time, I often wonder how a person who can't invest their full lives to this can get far in game with how expensive everything is. Grinding has become a chore at this point and I find I'd rather play something else. I do see potential in the game and what it could be, it's just hard to put in the time at this point.
The fact that they don't lock the crafting of storage boxes once you have build the maximum amount of them is silly as well. Even though it says on the item description that you can only build 8 of them I was assuming that it would block me from making more once I had reached that amount but no. I ended up making 2 more boxes that I now cannot place anywhere and won't even be able to use.. for what? I also can't sell them or give them to someone once it has been built so what's the point? I also noticed that it can happen for soil once you have bought 9 of them, it still gives you an option to buy more soil even though you can only have 9 total. My question is: will they change the maximum amount in the future or are they just making you lose money and items on purpose?
I've definitely exhausted this game after playing everyday for the last few weeks. Its far too grindy, and the chapaa event really annoyed me. I'm a player who likes to collect items and asking players to play round the clock in a pvp event in order to afford the prizes available, its so deflating.
Going back to the quests. I'm still stuck on the riddle quest meaning I don't know how to progress the main story. Related to this. I still haven't been able to make the glider even though I'm almost maxed for everything (including relationships in the game). Do I want the glider? No. The glider doesn't seem to add much benefit then possibly being fun and being able to collect a few out of reach chest. Your speed doesn't increase and you're stuck airborne so it literally becomes just as fast as sprinting. I've also been waiting over 2 weeks for them to fix the garden bug where adding max amount of fertilizer locks the gardening plots. So not only do I have to force login to monitor my crops diligently, it now takes much longer because I'm missing an upgrade I wasted time on to help with my progression (The opposite of helpful).
@@BettyeSpace good luck with your beta. I made this comment 6 months ago, it took them 2 months of waiting for them to address my ticket, couldn't fix the issue meanwhile they're pumping out cosmetics left right an centre. The game was originally purchase to support and play, meaning during the beta because the game was funded, they should work on ironing out the kinks and addressing player concerns. I don't care what you think, because from my experience, after being in multiple "open" betas and that's, they always continue to have their problems and be in this unfinished state. If you like the game, great. Other than that, your comment is literally just telling me to suck it up and deal with the bugs that prevent progression. I don't have to lol, I quit for a reason. I found game breaking glitches, waited 2 months for a gm to fix it, only telling me they're working on it. Apparently you can't have a negative experience and talk about it in this day an age. It's almost like sayings don't exist for people's daft ass brains. "Agree to disagree" we can both have our own separate opinions without being wrong, I'll just have less time wasted
I agree with almost everything. The game is starting to feel grindy rather than cozy, and open beta hasn't been around all that long. And I've said from day one that Palia is an MMO that forgot to be an MMO. Sure, you *can* group together, but there are very few reasons to do so.
Playing from just before open beta till now; excellent points. So many things bug me as well that you have mentioned, with the main criticism: There's nothing to do together, essentially. It's not (yet) an mmo, and I like to think I know what an MMO entails with some 14 years of WoW under my belt, also having played SWtoR, GW2 and FF14. Hell, even warframe was more of an mmo, despite only having closed lobby maps at the time I played it (many years ago). Price cost is extremely high, lack of quest ui, lack of being able to do ANYTHING with your furniture outside of stashing/using it. I'd love to either get some mats back, sell it for a decent buck, or even gift it. Anything else than just keeping it in my stash, honestly. After getting to level 98 so far, grinding out all my plots with renown, and having enough money (solo grinded! zero cake parties) for the iron chests, but not yet buying them as the bronze ones suffice, I like to think I reached "endgame" for what the beta is rn. The event with the chappa chase is indeed very lackluster on top of it. I mostly just log in for a few minutes around 15 past the hour when it becomes 6am to check out my crops, and that's all I do now, unless I'm really feeling like playing.
I tried the choppa chase twice and it always lagged out so badly for me that I skipped further going into this zone at all. The rewards in the end were IMO not worth the time to go there. What bugs me the most are the catch 10 uncommon bugs and catch 10 bugs together weekly quests. During a week I find a plethora of common, epic or legendary bugs, but hardly any uncommon ones and therefore had weeks where I couldn't finish that weekly at all. The group-related bug-catching quest also seems to randomly ignore my bombs at times. I.e. I found some other ppl who joined in to catch bugs and we all 3 throw a bomb at a bug. The two others can loot the bug, I can't and therefore it doesn't add to my weekly quest. As I'm not that much into cake parties (only participated once yet and it was dull beyond belief) I also struggle to do the group-cooking weekly on a regular basis. For some reason though, people only group up if they earn 100 cakes while standing 2h straight and randomly click a single button. In regards to quest and/or crafting, I completed the collection for the 2nd relief once S6 fixed the one missing flow stone. As I initially put in the one emblem you got as reward before picking up the remaining 5 in Bahari, I initially got the Ancient Rock Garden once I completed that collection part. According to the discord though, we should have gotten an emberborn crafting recipie down the road, which I didn't. Some patch notes state that at Tish's parts of that set should be buyable but I never saw a single piece nor a recipe either in her store, at her register nor directly from Tish herself. Also, midnight market has the same stuff I bought already a couple times. So, I'm not sure where to get this stuff. But even if I find it later on, my main plot is already at 2000 items limit and therefore new stuff has to go either to an other plot anyways or I need to redecore my main plot to fit that item in. Trees and fences unfortunately count fully towards that limit.
The fact that trees and fences count is wild to me, not to mention having the limit so low at all makes very little sense too. I feel like Palia is the game of arbitrary, low, limits. :/
Something as simple as putting rooms away? Just to rearrange ? I struggled so much moving it around just cause I had just carelessly placed them down when I first built them. Also if the plots could atleast reset the lot? Meaning you have all the resources from the beginning I’d love to be able to have the big extra large trees around my house but you can only place one size down which sucks. We get wallpaper and flooring but not roof, so many cute wallpapers I’d like for my house but can’t use it bc it doesn’t match the blue roof 🫠🫠 I could go on lol and I recently started joining cake parties and had no idea about the 100k chest or extra lots you need to buy for a simple gazebo to unlock, it’s stressful, it feels very grindy for things that shouldn’t cost as much
I know I'm late to comment on this video but I just want to say that I 100% agree with the sentiment of the farming. I have limited amount of time to play during my workdays, just finally getting my harvest carrots and onions quest done when I started took around three real life days because of the way crop growth works.
Thank you! Mini map and WHY does the ammo/food take up our very minimal inventory space which we had to earn instead of just having four lines. It's so little they should have just given it all at the begining.
As far as feedback goes I agree with the perspective given. Since this is a Beta, I'm sure that at some point they will make these changes. For things like the clothing, it's possible they may implement tailoring in the future through Jel. That way we can make our own clothing.
Yes. Very good points. I've only been playing for a couple of weeks and I'm still very low level in the game, but even I can see some of these issues glaring out.
I was super excited about a game that finally having tools that don't take up bag space in the genre... only for ammo to come into play. And even worse, trying to hunt with someone and finding out it's only for those who've shot towards the beast, despite being in the party. And chapaa's being so easy to scare and being able to just run away.... I just take on the azure chapaa solo. Chapaa chasing is also frustrating from the competitive nature within a party being shoved on us from. Especially when there could be a community version like you said or, like most carnivals, have smaller minigames where you can earn smaller amounts but compete with others in the same instance when not chasing or doing quests. Like a bottle knockover or hit the target type carnival games. And with outfits. Not having the ability to save a set outfit is irritating when you want to have multiple outfits, made worse that any sort of skirt/dress option can't be worn with any pants/leggings. (Also not being able to know if a specific cash shop item will be split or forced to wear in a specific way before purchase.) Fun game, great list of potential features, especially the node/ping ideas. Incentivize cooperation is needed at this state.
I agree on most points (especially on the MMO aspect), but the answer to your several questions is: technical limitations. 1. Unlimited storage - there is no such thing as unlimited something in programming. It could be an extremely big number, but keep in mind that all your storage content is stored on the server. Allowing to store tons of items will require more server space. 2. Growing crops offline will require constant server calculations for EVERY account on all their squares of the plot. What is done currently online needs to be done offline for every account (they could limit offline calculations to 12 hours though). Timers work offline, but crop growing is programmed differently most likely. But I personally think that offline crop growing is disabled simply because it will generate too much free gold (which it will) and does not encourage to play the game. 3. Not disappearing resources. How it is supposed to work? They need to respawn and if they stay forever it will mean that their position on a server will not change unless all 20 people pick it up). Also, currently server is calculating resource positions for an entire server, but personalized resources need to be calculated for every single person on the server (again, more server work). All stuff I wrote pretty much narrows down to the server running cost. This game needs a lot of work: proper bartering system, community housing, game/server-wide events. I can easily forgive some inconveniences like no minimap or resource competition, but the MMO aspect of the game is extremely underwhelming. And if I want a cozy single player game - there are plenty of them already.
I really love Palia I also play with my partner most of the time we both agree and has experience the same frustrations with what you share here, we feel like it's nice to be an MMO game but some people are being obnoxious regarding finding resources especially the rare resources and they intentionally trying to get everything for themselves I know everyone will need those rare resources at some point and I've seen many new players lately are failed to catch up with that kind of behavior those obnoxious people really failed the game and make it no longer cozy for everyone else, also the chappa chase it is very annoying how many people are not even trying to run around to catch the chappa and they just standing in certain places it also ruining the game imo, thanks for sharing btw
Like it was an alright system but not when you have to fish 500 times to get what you need.
this is hands down the most streamlined and fair Palia feedback, most of the videos are people bashing and giving zero feedback.
They need to have a museum so you can donate bugs and fish etc and then they give you rewards for completion. I agree with everything you said.
Omg yes, a museum would be so fun!
From some of the in-game dialogue, I believe it is coming.
I think some thing different to so its not exactly like Animal Crossing Im thinking like Observatory ^^
like Dinkum...
It has been hinted at in the "Letter from The Developer" that this feature is in the works.
If I had a buck for every time I had to unpin the "find your shepp" quest, I could buy several outfits from the cash shop.
Another disappointment was them nerfing so many of the solo gold grinds but then making items in the event SO expensive
They're nerfing the group gold grinds too. Cake party nerf is either implemented or about to be, not sure which.
And like, what is the POINT of the nerfs????? To make people just be forced into grinding more??? For what reason? Not everyone has hours upon hours every day to play!
@aurhiaseelund where was this said...?
Yeah the NPCs need to stay out of the chapaa chase area.
True. Don’t know how many times I accidentally talk to the NPCs 🫣🤭
Yes!!! Omg it’s so annoying
No, just don't spam F all over the place 😂
100%!!! I don't understand why one of the main multiplayer incentives to gathering together isn't more people = more resources
The amount of tree collected is so little and so hard to find. At least Palium will be in certain spots
Ammo pouch would be awesome. As well as repair kits working as is instead of needing an anvil.
Yes! That's how i thought repairkits worked at first! Like great, now we can repair while out and about, but no. 😂
It feels like a big, missing hole and a missed opportunity.
please i pray this gets to the the devs🙏 this was the best feedback i’ve seen. you’d had reasons for everything you said. and they all make sense
Thank you! I of course don't expect any of this to get implemented immediately either, but they are some huge pain points for me so I really hope they at least get addressed at *some* point 😔
@@ReallyQueenE i literally feel like everything you said would make perfect sense in this game
And on palium & flow trees:
I like idea that you get extra resources for grouping up. It takes too much time and mental energy
I'm a bit of a homebody and only really play with a few friends. I'd be totally down if this was a complete single player game, or something similar to Valhall (in terms of single & multiplayer)
I also want to have off center doors & windows ...
i agree wholeheartedly with your entire comment!
Only time will tell, but I'm HOPEFUL!
Lol
This is a fantastic list of suggestions. Great work putting this together, and explaining each pain point clearly.
Thank you! 🙏❤️
I agree with everything you're saying to 1000%!
100% I've basically given up on palium, only got 2 upgraded palium tools 🥲
Yeah, it's such a weird choice for them to have put these limits in!
True, but I think there might be map expansions in the future. Some areas seem like gateways to other zones.
I think the characters mention "Bahari City". I hope it will be one of the future locations we can visit.
@@aurhiaseelund The Watchers I haven’t heard of them yet. I did hear about the Elderwoods though.
@@stellalecarde4657 I won't give any spoilers then on anything else to do with them, but think of them like the FBI, and we are currently being contained in a small area to assess if we're dangerous. That's mentioned a couple times in regular village dialogue but I forget who by.
I quit playing recently. The chappa chase in Maji Market was my last straw. I agree with every single point you made.
I try many times to tick off the party boxes. By joining others nothing happends because I don’t catch enough. So I don’t no how it works.
I feel a little this way as well. The Chappa chase is nothing but a frustrating play and I won't be able to buy any of the things they made us all excited for.
They fixed it, I went from 30 tickets to 1700 after just 2 events
@jackknife761 finally!
i went to that event and did the quest. tried teh cappa chase event, but i gave up, not enogh chappas to get any of the objectives filled. only stressed me out
I think the main issue for me personally is the lack of visual progression for free to play players.
I get that!
Crafting....when making arrows for instance I don't want 20 arrows I want 300. Add a slider to crafting. Not forget what I crafted and have to open a menu box and scroll down every single time!
It's SO annoying! And then those arrows taking up tons of bag space too 😭
Solid points.
(Not sure how it would work for other things mentioned though)
There will always be a competitive element, even if you atempt to avoid it.
Maybe if we get community spaces, we can have little stalls within those for players to sell their wares?
a small capped multiplier for how many people are participating would really help with the node gathering. Also, palium functioning like flow trees.
yeah, palium should be like flow trees to incentive people to share. Some people just take it and split.
Or if they just made the nodes personal so you're not removing resources from other players...
@@ReallyQueenEagree with you. Really tired of the forced sharing in palia. Resources should be changed so that they are seen by each person individually. People are sick of having to wait around for others for 15 minutes and do call outs.
It’s fun sometimes but you have to have a lot of time for it. Of course, not everyone does.
Absolutely need a mini-map. I'm tired of having to open the big one every 5 minutes to see if I'm headed toward an NPC.
agreed, they could start with removing the stupid day and night circle in the top right and replace it with a proper minimap
I think the idea is to move away from mini maps to promote exploration. I love not having the minimap.
I 100% agree with EVERYTHING
Specially the mini map and the multiplayer/resources issues which are less likely to change compared to inventory sorting
I feel bad when I mine Pallium alone and I shouldn't feel like that just because I don't feel like chatting and waiting 5 minutes for others to slowly arrive to the spot.
So agree with everything you are saying here… storage is a constant issue even after spending the 50000 gold to unlock the last line.
True, Fortnite grafics with stardew gameplay
That chapaa chase gave me anxiety.... until I quit running around and just hung out at 1 spawn spot. Otherwise my game lags bad and i lose all the chances I have. I feel it is too competitive for the style of game Singularity 6 said they are going for???
Same, I lack the coordination for running so I started to camp on a spawn spot and catch like 5 a chase. But other players hate campers even though they catch more anyway, and some times I have players running circles around me or have their characters glued to mine just to annoy me.
100%
I really envisioned it to work differently, as I'm sure most of us did!
If they never plan giving us new cosmetics for gold then what's the point for the mannequins at the clothing store in the village?
I agree with all your points.
In addition to that, I'd suggest;
I love your suggestions and 100% agree with them! (The crafting stuff they've already mentioned that they are working on thankfully!)
Nailed everything in this video that is wrong with Palia in a fair and concise way. Nice work.
This actually is pretty well done
Thank you!
100% agreed! I wish desperately for a search bar in the crafting menu AND our storage
I totally agree 😭
I would definitely think twice about swimming since there are piranhas in the rivers XD
Piranhas are nicer than people think! 🥲
I'm not a competitive player, but I freaking love the Chapaa Chase. But I had one match where an NPC cockblocked my Chapaa grab 3 times.
I hope the devs see this video! I think all of these things are totally doable and I hope we see these changes as updates keep rolling in!
I play GW2 were you have personal nodes. If you take part of an event everyone gets the same reward. It is so less stressfull and competetiv.
In Palia the only activity where you really need other players are flow trees. Maybe this is why the game doesn't feel like a mmo.
agree 100% with your points .. the longer u play the less cozy it gets ..
A 100% agree with you. I tried the Maji market, but its way too laggy for me to even see the chappa's supposedly running around.
Totally agree. Don't want to forget the total missed opportunity for community homes
seriously Kenli is so in the way for Chapaa roundup
For real 😭
I accidentally f on him when I instead wanted to f a chapaa.... I missed my chance 😂
@cloudseven7440 me too, every time 😂
I'd love to see a Search menu in our bag, or storage, that would be awesome!
Me too!
AMEN on the separate bags for ammo, I totally agree!!!
You hit every single question I had in my mind while playing Palia.
Haha, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in feeling frustrated about these things! (Although sad so many of us are feeling the same way 😭)
Well thought out. Hit most of my issues with the game.
Yeah it might just be a case of taking a pro-longed break and come back after they've had some more time to flesh it out
@ 6:15 - S6 gave an official answer about the cosmetics in the AMA. They said they have ZERO intentions of adding free clothing in any capacity, only cash shop. Also, they have no current plans for more pets of any sort.
@ 10:05 - S6 also said in the AMA that they are working on a grid system for the map for better call outs. "Please look forward to it in a future patch."
OOh, you're opt in idea for the nodes is great.
The gold cap heavily plays into this too; They want to "keep the overall economy within a certain range."
The economy was also their excuse for not being able to sell furniture. Said they recognize this is a highly requested feature but it will take "a lot of discussion about how to implement this correctly."
They didn't comment on the inventory cap, but I would imagine it also plays into this.
(like literally, you don't even have to bring ingredients; you just participate in someone else's cake party! and you get cake!)
There's a lot of other really weird and frustrating design choices in the game that I just don't understand.
Everything you're saying regarding the economy and chapaa chase i agree with thousandfold! It's incredibly frustrating and decidedly UN-cozy...
this game came across my attention some years ago, and i just freshly installed and began playing it 2 days ago, something i think you may want to think about is UI as well, specifically the UI for crafting, its a huge mess of just 1 singular scroll bar, and 4 different options to scroll through that really dont break it up we need Categories along with respective sub catagories, an example for a main Category being Furniture, then its sub Categories would be Chairs, Couches, etc. also include a button that allows you to see only what you can craft based off the materials you currently have, as well as a search bar if you already know what you wants name. It may be helpful to also include a magnifying glass icon on items you dont have and have a tip saying which region or show a picture of the area you might find such materials more easily.
Absolutely!
I agree with the points you have made in this video... Well done 👍
I'm not sure how this game will turn out, but I fear that something I read about many of the devs and consultants hired come from free to play mobile farming games, if that is true then it might not turn out the way most of us want - Heck I wouldn't mind paying a small monthly server fee, they could still have their cash shop, but it should be much lower prices for the items there.
Yeah, I'm thinking maybe it was a little too early for a public beta, but I hope they will prove me wrong and make this a kickass cozy game!
The arguments are very well based, I actually didn't expect this to be so founded :) I love the game but I agree to every single point here.
thank you!
Absolutely!
100% agree with all of your observations and gripes.
Totally!
I did the same thing with storage boxes 🥲
This. This feedback is what I would love for the developers to take part of and act upon. Well done!
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
Time to cook to iron out all these issues = beta testing.
That’s where we still are. In open beta.
So many things bug me as well that you have mentioned,
with the main criticism: There's nothing to do together, essentially.
So glad I'm not the only one that finds the lack of a mini map to be very frustrating.
It's so frustrating! 😭
I 100% agree with everything you said.
(Also not being able to know if a specific cash shop item will be split or forced to wear in a specific way before purchase.)
Fun game, great list of potential features, especially the node/ping ideas. Incentivize cooperation is needed at this state.
Oooh yes, I really dislike not being able to wear skirts and leggings/pants at the same time! I feel so exposed so I've just opted for pants 🥲
@@ReallyQueenE SAME. Don't mind for some outfits, but not all of them, please... (Or the one dress that takes off your pants completely.)
Great list of suggestions! A player auction house would be great where players can sell their crafted or gathered items to other players.
