I have that exact same pen, including the short clip that as I learned only came with the very early releases, my date code (hardly readable now after years of use) is PC that corresponds to second trimester of 1987. It was my daily pen for 20 years . I purchased it with one of my first salaries in 1987, I do not use too often as I like the convenience of Pilot vanishing points too now that I only sign documents and write PostIts. For sure that pen will be with me forever and I consider it part of family heirloom.
Great review… Gorgeous pen. I love the Parker Brand. I have a modern Big Red, and recently brought a 1990 (i.e. “Q”) Mk I in black, mint condition with original packaging/documentation. And for Fountain Pen Day 2023, I purchased a 1987 Mk I Blue Marble, awaiting its delivery. I love the balance and weight of larger (oversized) pens as well. I think I prefer the older Centennials to the modern releases. I am a sucker for the old style nibs with the arrow as opposed to the Ace of Spade. It could just be me, but the resin/acrylic of the Mk I feels more solid and have a heft that I like over the modern… Again, great video/review. My grail pen now is to find that Mk II in Ivorine.
Great review. I don't know why people reviewing the P. Centennials always make a strong point about it being large. It's pretty mid range in my book. Much the same size as a Lamy Al-Star, Pelikan Souveran M80x, Diplomat Excellence A2 etc. Smaller than a Pelikan M1000, Pilot Custom 823. And I've never heard the Custom 823 b3ing called large. All in all it is very mid range... Until someone tries to post it! Then it becomes a walking stick. Anyway, thanks for the video. It was nicely filmed and produced.
