Doug, very enjoyable video as always. Love the intro Edit: I wonder if some silicon grease could help the cap threads a bit? Meant to mention that in my original comment.
OMG! Thank you for that new opening! That took me back! And you play it so well, you do the song and singer justice. The pen, I thought it might be a good pen to try and see if that size works before spending the big dollars for a real Duofold. The nib sounds like you got it under control. It does not sound scratchy when you write. I agree that the Moonman is a much better option.
Thank you so much KA Pirk! It took me decades but I finally learned to play both guitar parts of that song that I first heard in 1972! Definitely go for a Moonman M600S. They are reasonably priced and wonderful pens.
Thanks Doug. I've been watching this pen on Amazon for months. My interest was identical to yours but I held off buying it because I could see no markings or proof that this really is a Jinhao. It's helpful to have your review and to see the pen in action. I don't think I shall be spending my money in this case.
Thanks, Nan. Perhaps Moonman, Wing Sung or Kaigelu will come out with a Big Red. They certainly have the pen forms. This "Jinhao" goes in the drawer with my Sikb pens.
I have one of these; it was sold as a Jinhao 100. Mine functions just as wonderfully as yours does. I’m pretty sure it’s not a fake Jinhao but rather just a poorly built pen by Jinhao. I’ve found that not all Jinhao fountain pens are created equal.
well, I think i have one of these pens coming in from aliexpress, they called it a Jinhao 15 and charged me $20! my own fault there, none of the pictures have jinhao branding so I should have looked closer. I also have one of your melted Moonhow Jinman pens coming, that one was $22 ugh. they didn't mislabel that one however, they called it a "Luxury High Quality 196 Acrylic" . and I just notices while looking at the pictures that these two pens have the exact same clip and gold band on the cap, so they must come from the same manufacturer.
great review doug ,i think you,re right about it not being a jinhao as the ones i have are branded and good writers straight from the first inking, love the new intro,s
Thanks, Paul. Yeah, the titles on the ads from both Etsy and eBay are sometimes totally wrong or misleading. The "Lorelei 677" I reviewed recently wasn't a Lorelei 677 at all but a Lingmo Lorelei 019! Go figure.
Thanks for this Doug. I was considering this pen BUT as you pointed out it has issues so I will pass for now. Would rather spend my money on an other Moonman or a Conklin
Doug, You might want to remain without a Parker pen. I speak from experience. I assiduously avoided any Parkers until this year, and I have been using fountain pens for more than 50 years. Now, I have almost 2 dozen of them. They are addictive. I have duofolds from the US made in the 30s, from England and Denmark (vintage 40s, 50s, 60s) and a pair of the Centennials, and 5 of the 51s (all aero fillers). All but the Centennials were bargains, and the Centennials are worth every penny I spent. In short, I've become a fanboy.
I'm jealous you have a Centennial Joel! I love my Moonman M600S and feel that the Centennial with a gold nib would be a grail pen for me. Your avoidance of Parker reminds me of my avoidance of Gibson until recently. Now my Gibson SJ200 is the finest guitar I've ever owned or played. Funny how that works.
Sorry, but I feel I have to intervene in defense of vecchia guardia stilografica that it's not understood. It's not about nationalism or backwardness. I think you can say this: the New Centennial Jinhao are really amazing for the resemblance to the Parker Duofold. They are practically identical. Of course, they can be a tribute to a design that is now a classic , copied by all, but remains the fact that it’s a very simular model. I bought five and, considering the cost and how they are made, I recommend it, but it is correct to say that it is a very simular model made with much commitment. Now Vecchia guardia wanted to say this, and defended the originality of the Parker Duofold. Even to me, honestly, it seems that the originality, of any country, should be preserved and respected All here, nothing more
Thank you, michele meloni tessitori! I think much of your comment is lost in translation. By vecchia guardia stilographica I think you mean vintage fountain pens? The new Jinhao Centennial is a fine pen for the money. I think the Moonman M600s is a better pen in that same style. But, this pen in the review here is NOT a Jinahao and it is a piece of crap.
Best I can tell, this is the same pen as the Italix Chaplains Tankard. Not meant to be a parker duofold clone. Looks like Jinhao is just making them on their own now, and are no longer exclusive to the Italix brand, which is rather unfortunate. I happen to have a Tankard, but mine doesn't seem to have any of the loose threading issues your example does. I wonder if Mr.pen just does a better job of quality control before sending these out the door. I also wonder if you would have reviewed it differently had you paid $35 for it from mr.pen. Both Figboot and sbrerown gave substantially different reviews of the pen than yours.
This is NOT the pen that David and Stephen reviewed. That is the Jinhao Centennial. I have a review of that pen as well. This is not a Jinhao. If I paid $35 for it, I would have demanded my money back.
@@InkquiringMinds Well now I'm confused.. The pen reviewed here in this video is "not" the jinhao centenial, but it is the same as the one David and Stephen reviewed as the "Italix Chaplains Tankard" correct? ruclips.net/video/deioRy5_b-Y/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Pfz1oDopVLQ/видео.html Neither of those are the "jinhao centenial" but are in fact the same pen reviewed in this video, in a different colour.
@@uhohDavinci Ah. No, those reviews are of the Italix as you mentioned. What I was referring to was that the pen I'm reviewing in this video is NOT a Jinhao. That's why the title says "Fake Jinhao Centennial?" I do review the real Jinhao Centennial here: ruclips.net/video/XmfvN6SAVdc/видео.html The pen in THIS video is also NOT an Italix. Far from it. It is an incredibly cheap and poorly made Chinese knock off of either a Jinhao or the Italix. I had not known of the Italix Chaplain's Tankard before. Now that I see it, it looks like the pen I have (and haven't even inked) is a poor copy of that pen. Sorry for the confusion. The pen I bought here was sold as a Jinhao.
@@InkquiringMinds Yeah I can see where the confusion comes from, especially if its being sold as a "jinhao". but it does "appear" that whoever manufactures for mr.pens, is selling them on their own out the backdoor. So the question is, are they the same pen? just unbranded? or garbage parts sold out the back door. But it is definitely not a park duofold clone as it is its own design(mr pen) or a "fake jinhao centennial" as your title suggests, as this pen(whatever it is) has been out a full year before the jinhao centennial was released.
As you couldn't help but notice, this is a poor fake Jinhao 100. I suppose you know you have really arrived when someone copies your products. Given that Jinhao pens themselves are already super value for money, difficult to see why anyone would bother to make copies isn't it. I've heard that in fact there are other poor quality copies of other Jinhao models on the market.
I've also discovered this is the exact pen that Italix (Mr. Pen) sells as the "Italix Chaplain's Tankard". So, it is a generic pen that whatever Chinese company sells for rebranding. The Italix nibs are AWESOME and totally worth getting just to use the nib in another pen. These are just awful lumps of crap.
Doug, very enjoyable video as always. Love the intro
Edit: I wonder if some silicon grease could help the cap threads a bit? Meant to mention that in my original comment.
Thanks, Cam! I did put some silicone grease on the threads and, although better, it still sticks, slops around and cross threads.

Daniel Ste-Marie Hey, Daniel. I've had my eye on a Conklin Mark Twail crescent filler. :)
Me too but just a bit beyond my price range at the moment.
Doug, Pen Chalet has the Mark Twain on Sale at US $76.05.
@@danielste-marie779 Thanks for the heads-up Daniel! I think my wife just found her Christmas present to me. Boy, will she be excited!
They had the durograph on sale for $29.50 but missed out as they sold out real fast.

OK, went for the review, but I'm a big Maury Muehleisen fan.

Maybe "Ay-suh" Blue? I had a great-uncle named Asa. I believe it is from the Bible.
