It’s been a while since we heard Jony talk…. Always very intense and inspiring. I’ve used and still use many of his creations and my heartfelt thanks to both him and the late Steve Jobs for their profound contributions to all of us.
It’s a wonderful time to discover a new video of Jony. I always make sure there’s the due time, in a quiet spot, to listen and reflect on his insight into his incredible perspective of design and craft. Thanks for the upload!
"There's lots of ways to be as a person. People express their deep appreciation in different ways. But one of the ways that I believe people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity, is to make something wonderful and put it out there. And you never meet the people, you never shake their hands, you never hear their story, or tell yours. But somehow, in the act of making something with a great deal of care and love, something is transmitted there. And it's a way of expressing, to the rest of our species, our deep appreciation." --- at @33:07
Watching how Anna Wintour listens, paying full attention to what he says, is an indicator of the size and influence Jonathan Ive has in the world of design.
“When we make something with utmost care and love, it serves as a means of expressing our gratitude towards the species. Even if we never get to know the people who use it.” - Jony Ive quoting Steve Jobs at: 20:19
My hope is in Designers and Engineers like Jony Ive who will address any ill effects of climate change when/if they occur. Scaring people into change is just like another religion that wants to control humanity. The anxiety it’s causing in our youth as well adults is putting everyone in a catastrophic funk. Focus on hope not fear!
The one thing we cannot change is our physicalness in a world that's made of stone and metal. But, what you can change is the intimacy of a product. iPhone will be a thing of the past once a product can exceed its capability. VR headsets can blend the person with the tech in such an intimate way. With iPhone there has always been a disconnection. We have our heads down at a screen with the world around us without the screen being part of ourselves and the world. In 20 or 30 years' time we may have contact lenses instead of a phone we have take out of our pockets constantly.
I feel the people working for Apple and on Apple, they aren't as enthused and they didn't have the vision that Steve Jobs and the beginning crew saw and had. So it's all just all over the place now. The original crew has pretty much left Apple. I'm starting to see the bugs and the rubbish of products being made today. They aren't made the same. The software is so buggish and just the quality of the product has declined.
That would not have gone well. He's too creative, adventurous, and worldly. He's NOT that corporate. He's working on issues like climate change and "making design more intimate". A CEO has to deal with revenue, shareholders, competitors, etc... who would actually WANT that when you could take 3 years to contemplate the future design of the world? ;)
There’s no way he would have left Apple and started his own company if Jobs was still around. I’m convinced that he left because the innovation at Apple started to fade.
The climate change talk is utter bull. Any study shows that any solution, if any, is heavily in complex technologies, many of which do not exist. No design he can conceive of would have anything other than blather impact. Of course he must be a gifted designer, but he makes no sense at all when he talks. It's all pablum.
I imagine if you saw Anna at a local grocery store you would be like who is that crazy person lol this conversation was so boring, she should stick to her day job lol 😂
The sheer precision in his word choices... Jony Ive doesn't talk, he designs his sentences!
Exactly my thought too.
so true...
That isn’t a good virtue
@@smoll.miniatures do elaborate

I have truly missed listening to this man.
Love how pragmatic and down to earth Jony is. So much of the Design World is full of Elites like Anna, who are puffed up bay all those under her.
Watching how Anna Wintour listens, paying full attention to what he says, is an indicator of the size and influence Jonathan Ive has in the world of design.
Huh? She is a notoriously bad listener. She is the boss. She does what she wants.
She frequently interrupts him in this video
Better Ive speaks someone that knows design
He just speaks and my brain starts rendering iPods and Macs flowing and turning in a white space
Wearing white against a white background might have something to do with your renderings.
Lmao
Seek help.
This was fantastic. He summarized where we are today so very well. Thanks Jony!
Incredible talk, really inspiring. Wish he did more interviews or podcast talks
I've listened to maybe 2 hours of interviews with him. Frankly it always seems incoherent and word mush.
@@ak203 Just for you bro!
This is criminally underviewed
Wish he continued doing Apple Ads voice overs.
They don't feel the same anymore.
They truly don't. I think his voice SOLD the product. It wasn't even Steve or anything, it was Jony's voice that sold it.
Thank you for uploading this, I loved every minute of it!
This woman's super dark sunglasses and her perfect pageboy do combined with her chalky complexion gives me the shivers.

Love it. One suggestion for Anna Wintour, get a less reflective shade for the teleprompter.
Jony Ive is an amazing man, thanks for the interview :)
Design Genius
Can't wait to see his next car design !
Some takeaways

Yawn. Acolyte of sycophant? I admire his material acumen. Absolute shite for visual interface understanding.

What a video! Thank you for it 🧡
johny’s voice is irreplaceable, we knew it
That was really insightful conversation, thanks Wired
Must be very sunny in there..
It’s nice to see that since he left Apple he’s redone his white room with a white brick wall.
Make video
If you ask what Jony wants for breakfast, prepare for a 10-minute answer
”Learning to actually list-”
Gets interupted by Anna 😂
Isn't it annoying how she interrupts him as if he needs help in completing what he's saying..
His mind is just awesome
The free music part just crushed the musical artist, and maybe the music industry itself.
Interesting that he was talking about the Vision Pro in hindsight at 11:29

2 Brits who changed America and the world 🇬🇧
Yess. Both are fashion icons and their new clothes will improve the efficiency and beauty of the clothes in the future.
Jony is as much of a genius as was Steve Jobs. It’s seem good to see him on RUclips.
missed hearing his voice and his thoughts

Wonderful gem
Without Steve Jobs and Jony Ive there's no Apple as we know it today.
But we still have Craig Federighi, on the other hand. So not all is lost.

He basically took the bauhaus movement and brought it to our modern times. Nice!

It's a genuine shame that Ive didn't replace Jobs.
Agreed. I had assumed that would have happened. It just seemed obvious that would be the case.

that would’ve meant design over engineering. It would have been a terrible choice
There’s no way he would have left Apple and started his own company if Jobs was still around. I’m convinced that he left because the innovation at Apple started to fade.
Anna Wintour is an ESTP and Jony Ive is an ISTP 😁
And those sunglasses... 😓
Whilst I admire him as a designer and someone who leans towards Apple tech, I do wish just once he'd re-engage "normalspeak" for 60 seconds
Jony is an intriguing individual but, that accent would wear me out if I had to listen to it all day every day.
