  • In this video,we fit the motor to the leg. We also find that the RPM is very low,and the prop will need a major increase in both pitch and diameter.

    I absolutely love stuff like this. We must share the same illness - the love of doing something just to see if it can be done whether it makes any sense or not, economically speaking. Looking forward to the next videos in the series! Thanks for sharing!

    That is looking promising. Once you get it up and running I'm sure you will explore other controller options? Look forward to seeing more on this.

    Hey there! Just wanted to suggest wiring the motor in Delta config for high speed and low voltage?

  • @ob6768

    I would say the work you have done so far was quite correct. In the case short legged outboard is correct for your vessel, before proceding with cutting the fin away and changing the proppeler, perhaps playing with different motor controllers and voltages would yield better output, wrapping the project up sooner? Thank you for sharing!

    Wow, that thing could probably run a huge prop. I imagine the torque on such a wide motor is massive.

    Are you running in on dc or ac ?

    how about changing gear ratio:2to 1 or 1-1

    How did it end up working on the boat?

  • @HealthThroughNutrition

    In desperate need of a gearbox.
    All that torque is wasted just straight out of the motor direct.
    Really good video, looking forward to seeing it going.

    Speed should have been taken from the sold part of prop it may have measured from each blade.

    Up the voltage, change the controller will increase the speed

    I have been testing different ways to drive the washer stator. And i am getting better results with running the stators hall effect sensor on the outside of the stator hub. And I'm only driving one set of coils currently. Check out what im doing on my channel if you want to see 300 rpm with under a half amp input on one set of stator coils. Love the channel. Plz never stop.

    What is the max speed you got for the washer machine motor ?

    • @69Atho
      @69Atho  5 лет назад

      Just 298RPM

      @@69Atho Therein lies your problem. At that speed it would indicate a frequency of only 120Hz out of your controller if yours is a 36 pole motor. Those motors ( and others like the Samsung and LG and Whirlpool ) need to operate in the 300-500 Hz range. At 400, the RPM would be 1000 and at your prop, 500. About 1/4th the speed of the Watersnake but far better than what you currently have.

    what happens if you give it more voltage, will it spin faster

    • @69Atho
      @69Atho  5 лет назад

      Yes,but the speed controller is rated for 14 volts max.

    12v @ 30a is only 360 watts - its about 1/2 hp max

    I am below novice here. You might save my relic boat from the dump, petrol prices here in Canada are thru the roof.
    Help me out with motor in this video...
    So wide vs our washing machine motors??

    Hey TinMan I know your a petty sharp guy, and I love your channel.
    Maybe I missed something along the way, but I'm wondering why you don't use like a Ebike type speed controller, and maybe 24v or 36v that should really get that motor spinning.
    what am I missing, or not understanding? is it more about keeping the cost down? Or that the motor is wired for 12v?

    • @69Atho
      @69Atho  5 лет назад +2

      Yes,it is to keep the cost down. Im trying to keep these projects as cheap and as simple as i can,so as everyone can give it a try.

    Ozymandias
    BY PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY
    I met a traveller from an antique land,
    Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
    Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
    Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
    And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
    Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
    Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
    The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
    And on the pedestal, these words appear:
    My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
    Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
    Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
    Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
    The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

    get yourself a 72V ebike brushless controler and you will have better rpm
