- 12/1/1979. Marie Osmond stars as Marie Owens, a young single woman who leaves her home in Nebraska and moves to New York City in hopes of realizing her career dream of becoming a Broadway dancer. She enrolls in the Carla Coburn Dance Academy and finds an apartment that she shares with her two girlfriends, K.C. (Telma Hopkins) and Sandra (Zan Charisse).

I never knew Marie starred in the sitcome pilot. I had to do a double take.I thought it was part of the Donny & Marie show. She was fantastic on this show. She can sing, dance ice, skate, acting in serious, funny, musical.You can't find this talent in Hollywood any more. Cause all it comes down to these actors only act.

The script needed a bit more tweaking but overall, the premise was cute--because, seriously, how can you go wrong with Telma Hopkins?! This pilot was "Angie", "Mary Tyler Moore" and "That Girl" all rolled up into one and probably would have done better had it been released two years later after "9 to 5" was a hit.
Wow...after forty years I just learned that Telma Hopkins was a member of the singing group "Tony Orlando and Dawn". She was so talented and gorgeous just like Marie Osmond.

I remember seeing this on TV. I even tape recorded it so I have the audio. This pilot episode was taped before Marie’s short-lived variety show. In the ‘90s, of course, she had another shot at a sitcom with “Maybe ThisTime” with Betty White. I would love to see Marie in another sitcom. Maybe the third time would be the charm.

I never heard of this show at al!! It must have bombed in the ratings and that is why it never came on the network line up for a TV show!! This is different for Marie to do!! It was OK of a show, but not Marie's best work in my opinion. But I want to thank you so much for putting this on here!! Was there any more of this show or was this the only one that aired?! If so, if you have them, would you please post them as well?! I used to watch almost every show with Telma Hopkins- Give Me A Break, Bosom Buddies and Family Matters. I know that she also was part of Tony Orlando And Dawn, but I never did get into them!! I just never knew this existed, again thank you for putting it on here and for us to watch it. It seems as if most of us didn't even know about this show!! I knew about almost all of Marie's shows, but this one!!

The Marie TV pilot was a disappointing, derivative production. WOW. It felt like a 30-minute Carol Burnett skit stretched beyond its limits. The humor was stale, and the plot was uninspired. The show failed to showcase Osmond's talent, leaving you with a forgettable and lackluster experience. Overall, it was a missed opportunity for quality fun entertainment. 1 ⭐
