Ahhh, Mr& Mrs hosted by Derek Batey, a Border TV production. Ray Brookes voicing over the Kellogg's rise and shine ad, who also voiced over Comet adverts and narrated the Mr Benn cartoon. Michael Rodd tomorrow's world. I was 8 then, and I think it was one of the best years in my life. My late father was earning good money working on the construction of the 2 huge cranes at Hunterston ore terminal near Largs, now sadly gone. Happy days!!

I was there back then, I enjoyed my job, young family, car, affordable home all on my average income and my wife only working part time for a few extras. I enjoyed politeness, trust between people and a feeling of security. Look at the state of things now. Our Governments, greed and new technology have an awful lot to answer for. I feel sorry for young people today but cannot understand why on earth they put up with it.
I agree with you 100 percent. I'm only 24 but act much older hahahahahaha and agree with everything you said and you're right we shouldn't put up with it as much. We should be more like the French I hate the Tories too and and really hope they're out this time next year x

Evening 🖐I agree with everything you said about back then...it has all fizzled away and replaced with absolute chaos , fakery and social stress everywhere...The world is full of clones now everywhere . where you must be like the next man or you will be rejected ..etc etc etc ....Life was happier,simpler, less stress and you could be who you wanted back then .. all you have to do is look at the music scene back then as a prime example...every artist had a completley different dress taste , yet everything fit in and everyone got on well..It was like one big long party for ALL with trust .....Oh did i mention that you could leave your front and back door open too when you nipped to the local shops ha ha ha Thank you for your excelent comment and enjoy your weekend 🤗

Yeah I'm 18 and I have no idea how it was back in the past. But what I do know is that in this time I have to fight to not give in to the many vices available today, and there's also a noticeable lack of dignity and self respect among my peers who follow social pressures. Not all of us are affected by the pressure to fit into this one mold of a person but the people who are sensitive to rejection fall into it.
I do think we currently live in a dystopian society. I remember seeing the last days of normality as a kid in the early 2000's (I've also noticed the newer generations born after that last bit of normality have gotten so much worse)
I have a sudden urge to join the Navy ☺

Mr and mrs is one of those I thought was boring as a kid same with 321 only thing I liked is being put in a soundproof booth and dusty bin😂.
Been watching alot of old crimewatch and police 5 lately with shaw taylor.
Dont know but seemed alot more violent in the 70s 80s 90s maybe we just dont hear about it as much these days.
Lots of ballaclavas shotguns and stolen vehicles. The professionals was a favourite growing up loved the mark 1 escorts and capris 🕶😎👍
HI Sparks Tron 🖐I have the tales of the unexpected theme tune as my ring tone 😆🤣🎶 I used to find it creepy when i was little and still do a bit now but its kind of dreamy at the sae time..love it now ..and those story lines were hilarious but good hahaha Yeah love the capri..my aunty had a silver one in the 80's and i used to think it was like a porche 🤣 Know what you mean about the sound proof booth! I remember keith lemon doing a game whey all sat on fake toilets and wore head pphones and had to guess what the perso next to them saw saying 🤣 Thanks for this and great to see you 🤗📺👍

Was a fun car ended up scraping it for 30 quid😲Mine was a 1.4 or 1.6 engine was tiny and not like the professionals at all but did get a few handbrake skids out of it in the wet and snow😄

Thanks for sharing. I was 7 in 1979. Blondie and Abba's Agneta made such an impression on me as a child that later in life I only cared about similar looking ladies.
But it was a good thing that the Seventies were over. Out with the old, in with the new. The Seventies were mostly bad taste.
If I could pick my 3 favourite years of the 80's, in order of appearance: 1985, 1986 and 1983. Haven't seen them on your channel yet. Looking forward to it.

So true John...copletley different type of worries back then ...... a lot of the younger peoples worries today, are total stress over how good they will look before anyone sees them on a video call and what filter they can throw over their face to fit in with the clones of today ......not their fault ...its just todays social pressure that has gone insane .... I remember my friend singing I Will Survive at a kids karaoke comp I took part in in the mid 90s. Only 2 or 3 of us took part i remember i was going to sing Living on my Own by Freddie i had been practicing it singing along to it on tape but when the night came they didn't have it i remember singing Radio Ga Ga one year at the kids karaoke. I noticed Snoopy at the bottom at about 7.23.i remember that theme tune at 7.01. The highlight of this video for me was probably Video Killed Radio Star i thought that was a 80s Tune. Kenny Everett was friends with Freddie for a while. Watched this video till the end thanks.

@@RetroReminiscing Back in the 90s it was a book with a list of songs they had. They didn't have Living on My Own. It might have been the same night i sang Radio Ga Ga instead i can't remember really it was over 25 years ago i just remember singing Radio Ga Ga and practicing Living On My Own and then them not having it! I didn't sing at a karaoke again until 2006 when i did a terrible version of New Year's Day by U2 on a works night out! 😂 After that i didn't sing at a karaoke again till 2015 in either Shrewsbury or i remember singing Crazy Little Called Love and It's A Kind Of Magic at the Queen Fan Club Convention in Southport in 2015.

Now I'm wondering what the difference between Grecian 2000 & Lady Grecian was? ..... & the guy in the advert looks like he's got a combover ..... Also, I don't remember Mr & Mrs as being so risque, I'm genuinely shocked that the 1st question was whether the hubby had ever gone out dogging😳.... His wife didn't seem too bothered either did she ..... (well, there were only 3 telly channels in 1979, so I suppose people used to make their own entertainment back then ..... She might have been having wild Tupperware parties while he was out & up to his old tricks)

@@RetroReminiscing Yes, Sandy and I were friends since about ten years old. We grew up together in the same block of flats. Played football in the backyard and all the stuff young boys do.
Then when we were around 14 years old my dad bought me a guitar, then Sandy got one and we taught each other how to play. We then met Alex by chance when we were 17 years old. Alex was about 10 years older than us and he had the gift of the gab, LOL We practiced twice a week and we became pretty good. We had brilliant harmonies. At one of our gigs at a local hotel, a guy who worked for a program on STV heard us playing and we ended up on one of the television shows. Then Sandy went to London and became very successful with a big financial company.
He eventually became the director of the company but we always kept in touch by email.
I often wonder how far we could have gone as a band if Sandy had never left. Now I am the only one left from the band.
Although there are around six albums still on sale of the songs we sang. "Steam Jenny" was the name of our band and if you Google "Steam Jenny folk band" you will see the albums we made. There is a picture of Alex (the one in the middle with glasses) with two other guys. This was taken after I left the band.
Alex came up with that band name because he sold pressure washers. LOL 😂

Hey Sonique the one I found most interesting was the British ad for the Ford Capri. I didn't even know what the Capri was, likely because it was a European production, even though Ford is an American car maker. I also couldn't believe the ad used terms like "cubic feet" and "miles per hour"! What about the metric system? 🤔
