Exactly. Using a medium / low setting (which causes the oven to alternate between full power and off) also helps to make it more even. Honestly, the best way to mince garlic without the mess and fuss is to just peel a load, blend it in a blender/food processor. I just store it in a pot with some olive oil in the fridge and it lasts for weeks! Makes cooking with garilc so much faster and easier.
Just gotta remember that once you put garlic in your blender/food processor and it uses plastic for it's bowl/container, it'll basically stain it and make it smell like garlic forever. I remember one time having to buy a new blender because after blending some garlic in it, everything else I made it had a lingering taste and smell of garlic. For bacon, go for the more expensive dry cured options- it shouldn't shrink as much. Most cheap (everyday) bacon is wet cure where they cure it in saline and the water bulks out the meat, only to make it shrink when the water is cooked off.
My virgin kitchen, the reason why it takes so long to charge is English plugs eject less electricity as less electricity is needed for British products to work in japan more electricity is needed for their products. The thing you were calling a sushi penguin would actually be an onigiri penguin, onigiri means 'Japanese riceball' which is what you made. Also I don't mean any offence just wanted to point it out
Onigiri is made with plain rice (sometimes lightly salted), while sushi is made of rice with vinegar, sugar and salt. Sushi originated as fermented rice, intended to be wrapped around fish to preserve it. These days, however, we eat lots of different types of sushi, with and without fish. :-)

Hey barry, for bacon in the microwave I stick it between two layers of paper towels, I actually use blue shop towels since they are a lot stronger, but then that for 7-8 minutes is usually pretty good, I often have to play with the time a bit but a good start is check it after 5 minutes, then 1 minute blasts, or two if it looks pretty raw still.

And yes, the lever gets a little gunked up, but that's what those little pegs are for, they kinda loosen the peel to make it pop out better, so that's a plus. So it has some cons, but I actually really like it. Use it all the time.
The bubbles are because of the high starch in short grain rice. A splash of oil helps it from bubbling up but not sure if you want to use it for sushi rice.

Who else thought of Mitch Hedberg when they saw the potato in the oven? "I like baked potatoes. I don't have a microwave oven, and it takes forever to bake a potato in a conventional oven. Sometimes I'll just throw one in there, even if I don't want one, because by the time it's done, who knows?"
1:57 - Well, they're slightly out of focus and blurred from the movement, but from the bit I was able to see it looks like they're literally in Chinese. Also, it's designed / made by Hangzhou JunXin, which is a Chinese company.
for the batteries: them working in a clock doesn't mean they have enough juice for appliances. I used to put "used up batteries" in a clock and the clock still worked for ages...
@myvirginkitchen Barry you missed an important and awesome part of that garlic press. You weren’t watching it but after pressing the garlic when you turned the handle around the black bar was scraping the extra garlic that hangs from the press. It didn’t really do it the second time cause you were holding onto that piece. But it scraped out the extra garlic you can actually use so by the time the spiky plate gets there to push the holes clear all that’s there is what you normally wouldn’t be able to get at anyways. That is one gadget that I am seriously impressed by. I’ve seen someone else demo the ice cream sandwich maker before and I think I like it even more now. It’s not totally necessary for making homemade ones but the recipes I’ve seen for full from scratch no mold ice cream sandwiches are so much work: make the cookies, soften ice cream and spread into shallow pan, refreeze, cut to size, assemble, refreeze again. Plus I live in a tiny apartment with a usually stuffed tiny freezer. That gadget would cut out the extra ice cream melding steps and keep it all contained in something much easier to fit into my freezer. 4 sandwiches is more than enough for me by myself!
I just use a microplane garlic grater. No need for a press. Yougrate with the peel on, when you’re done, the peel is left in your hand or on the grater, just toss it in the compost or trash.
I think the girls will enjoy using the hedgehog grater when they're helping in the kitchen. That egg scrambler gadget is a modern version of something Ronco (remember them? Purveyors of naff easy listening records and even naffer "innovative" gadgets, especially at Christmas time) brought out in the 70s. The infomercial for it is probably somewhere on You Tube.
As you open the garlic press it scrapes off the bits that were crushed but didn't fall off. I might be wrong but I think you missed that. The part you called the latch.

The hedgehog can never be buggered at all!
“Hahaha! Hello mr.. AHHHHHH!!” 😂
The bubbles are because of the high starch in short grain rice. A splash of oil helps it from bubbling up but not sure if you want to use it for sushi rice.
Gets garlic on himself 'ooo that smells a bit garlicky'.... 🤣🤣
Dear Mr Barry,
You can capture any foreign text with the camera on your phone and translate it with the google translate app. The app recognises text and you can highlight the words you want to translate.
I have the ice-cream sandwich maker, it works like a charm. You should really try the recipe on the instruction booklet, it's awesome kinda like a chocolate brownie!
What were you cooking in the slow cooker looked good sorry off topic
Also, that dishwasher brush looks a bit like like a PKE meter from Ghostbusters. So, an idea that doesn't work... Overly complicated Ghostbuster-like apparatus.... Has Paul Gannon been in your house, recently ?
I just wanted to say your fridge looks fantastic. I love that blue color.
They were selling that Garject gizmo at my local modern art museum, haha. So random! But I'm happy you reviewed it because I was thinking I needed a new garlic press.
some of your gadget tests rly helped me out :) i have rheumatism and rly struggle with opening lids, because i don't have much strengh in my left hand.
Honestly the best "gadget" i own is an air cooker, the thing is absolutely amazing! Must have.
I don’t know if it would be helpful but you could try a brand new battery on the egg scrambler. Makes a difference sometimes.
If you haven't already tried it, I suggest you have a go microwaving your bacon on just a plain paper towel (for about 1-2 min). That's how I cook my bacon all the time and it always turns out nice and crisp 👌
Didn't you already do that Ice Cream Sandwich maker? Or was it a different brand? I fairly certain you did one in an earlier video at some point.
That random potato got me😂
I've had my Garject for years now. It may serve only one purpose, but it serves that purpose virtuosically.
When Barry first showed the penguin mold, I thought it was an athletic cup.
That garlic gadget is a game changer! Keep up the great work, Barry!
1:57 - Well, they're slightly out of focus and blurred from the movement, but from the bit I was able to see it looks like they're literally in Chinese. Also, it's designed / made by Hangzhou JunXin, which is a Chinese company.
Did you try flipping the batteries around the other way on the egg scrambler maybe?
for the batteries: them working in a clock doesn't mean they have enough juice for appliances. I used to put "used up batteries" in a clock and the clock still worked for ages...
Love your videos and absolutely love you and your sense of humour!
I'm excited for the day when I have supporters as amazing as yours. I love these videos

Yay your on trendingggg!!!!!! 🤗♥️♥️♥️
Would you have just make a video about making snacks for your pups? They're the cutest and I would LOOVVVEEEEE that video 😍
I have a Kasimir as well! I love my little cheesy hedgehog 🦔🧀
I’m sorry but in the UK does your bacon not come pre-sliced and just in slabs?
I love the ice cream bar kit! Awesome for parties thinking this would be great for Christmas, spiced cookie with an eggnog filling.
Anybody else liked before they watched the video. Love these videos ❤️
I just use a microplane garlic grater. No need for a press. Yougrate with the peel on, when you’re done, the peel is left in your hand or on the grater, just toss it in the compost or trash.
Getting excited by a garlic press, that looks awsome!!!
Penguin looked immense. I said WOW at the same time as yr wife lol.
these are so fun to watch!! your fridge is the coolest one i've ever seen by the way....did your kids like the donut pillows from last episode?
I think the girls will enjoy using the hedgehog grater when they're helping in the kitchen. That egg scrambler gadget is a modern version of something Ronco (remember them? Purveyors of naff easy listening records and even naffer "innovative" gadgets, especially at Christmas time) brought out in the 70s. The infomercial for it is probably somewhere on You Tube.
Love the dramatic music when you were making the sushi penguin :-)
Love that dramatic music!
Yessss we love a barrathon

16:27 "And then you're just left with the peel!"
... And half the glove of garlic.
You got the temperature on the microwave too high dear. With bacon 🥓 put the temperature on med, then lower the time. Then it should work.
As you open the garlic press it scrapes off the bits that were crushed but didn't fall off. I might be wrong but I think you missed that. The part you called the latch.
wheres your fridge from? i love it 😍
