Atta Boy (Man), Nate! You have come so far, I'll bet you are one (tired) happy camper! So happy for your success! Soon you will have the flooring all in, and with it, the satisfaction of a good , mold free area.
Hey Nate.. I'd like to thank you for enunciating your words so wonderfully..my hearing isn't what it used to be and I've always appreciated someone that cares so much when communicating with others..it's downright charming and kind..ty
Nate. I don't know how u do this all on ur own. I'm looking forward to the day u & Katie actually move in. U can sit down ,take a deep breath & be proud of urself. Most of all relax & enjoy it. 😊
If you think about it at the moment Nate is under the joist so that’s why he was calling them rafters from the basement area just saying lol. Either way we all knew what he’s saying. I’m not a carpenter so it’s all new to me lol.
I loved this so much, satisfaction to the max. and added bonus of laughter at the end with you making corrections with the texting over! lol Maybe that was Nate editing! I cant remember who does that. It was fun anyway!
Great job Nate. Your so into being to the T in the measurements, I would of had so much off and not been able to get as close in your measurements as you have been getting it all at. Just so amazed at your abilities. I loved the commentary corrections and then to say oh Nate I give up I was laughing at that, thanks for the laughs I think we all needed a bit of humor and now you can move on to getting the floors back in. Yay!!!
Rafters are above one’s head, and these are definitely above Nate’s head, so he can totally be excused for confusing them with joists 😂😂😂 Great video, btw.
The house is coming along nicely. I know you are happy to be in the house working again. Looking forward to moving in. Take care and stay safe. Glad you have a great helper in Jim. Thank you Jim for your service and support.✌🏻❤️🙏🏻
hey, thanks for the video! I learned alot about "joists" (and thanks for the editing comments - LOVED EM!) and the understructure of the floor...and alot about the determination of a man to "do it right"! Congrats!
Nate, you are almost done with the floor frame! That is so awesome! Bravo! Can't wait to see it done, only 2 want this more, you and Katie! It's going to look great! Blessings!
If I were you I would also dig out some of the floor so you would have a little more head space and use to store your canning and other thing without bending over. More work but could benefit you later.
Why do you use untreated wood for your beams? Surely it would be safer in the long run to use treated, so as to avoid the possibility of rotting and termites?
I believe it's standard to use untreated wood for joists & girders. Basically anything that doesn't 'significantly ' rest on concrete. The end of the girder I put up touched concrete, so I put in the sill gasket to keep it from touching the concrete. I did that anywhere the untreated wood touched the concrete (very few areas, very little surface area). I did use pressure treated wood for the sill plate and also used sill gasket, even though technically I didn't need to use the sill gasket. I believe there is a spray (or a mixture that can be made) that I can use on all the wood surface in the basement to keep termites from eating the wood - I think it's based on boric acid - I was thinking about doing that at some point in the near future, but haven't decided 100% yet.
You’re doing such a great job. Enjoy watching everything come together.
Great job Nate
LOL 😆😂🤣 that was great!! 👍👏 Awesome progress too!

Basement rafters = floor joists 😂😂😂😂😂. ❤ great job nate! I don’t know how you do any of this without an assistant!
Great video
Looking great Nate! Just keep in mind it that you will be enjoying a nice, new and cool and/or heated space soon.
Rafters are above one’s head, and these are definitely above Nate’s head, so he can totally be excused for confusing them with joists 😂😂😂

The foamy stuff between the concrete and wood is a sill gasket.
You are doing a fantastic job with this project!
Seeing you working so hard, no wonder some videos you just want to sit and not walk and talk❤️
So happy to see you working on the house again

When downstairs they’re rafters; when upstairs they’re joists. God and His helpers create good supports everywhere. ❤
