how about drill a hole on the old plastic oil pan to save mess of leaking oil everywhere when take it out. not sure the hack will work or not. Maybe have risk damage the inside component.
You shouldn't drill any type of holes because you are risking touching the valve body and parts with the wires all over the place! This could destroy these parts and you may end with a very expensive problem! Sorry but drilling is very risky... Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍
@@projectathos Thank you for the quick response and for sharing your knowledge. I thought that park mode (like a fully depressed brake) doesn’t engage the transmission (as in, the wheels don’t turn). Glad I asked!
Yes this would help but you have to take the additional parts away and this can only be done if you the car on a lift. But yes lifting the transmission would give you a better access to the rear bolts. Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍
It's not recommended to change the whole fluid in the transmission or also called flushing because when you remove the fine wear particles from the clutches in the fluid you will end up creating a sudden burning of the clutches and destroying of the transmission when you install a complete new fluid. We have seen this situation many times now. Remember transmissions don't work the same way like engines where you have to replace the whole fluid. This is something that the dealerships do not tell people and later in time you end up with burnt transmissions at 100,000 miles... This is my experience therefore my recommendation and I don't force this on anyone because it is up to you to research and decide what actually you would like to do. We have vehicles lasting more than 300 000 miles on the transmissions with this type of partial transmission fluid change. Happy to answer your other questions! Thanks for your support!
Electric pump would be your best option but you could probably do it with a manual one but you need to get extra oil because you will make a mess when you are pumping it... Thanks...
I wouldn't bother getting it from them as they will sell you something unknown bottled to Mercedes. I don't trust labels and we all know Mercedes doesn't manufacture fluids! I would get either the Vaico and I believe this Vaico is the OEM manufacturer for Mercedes for this specific fluid or Liqui Moly... You will end up paying too much at the dealer anyway! So why waste your money my friend when you can get a better fluid for a cheaper price?! Thanks and Good Luck 👍🤞
YES but when you try to do the 90 degrees the bolts will not go so I am using my experience and common sense because I don't want to break one these weak Aluminum bolts inside so I torqued them by hand until I feel they are tight... You can tey whatever you want, this is what I did and so far everything is fine. For that matter never had problems using my brain 😂
Yes I believe so because these days Mercedes is using the same 9G 9 Speed transmission on almost all models. Check with your dealer for confirmation if in doubt...
Is it necessary to change the transmission fluid at 40k miles or can I just run the car like that? I mean, would it cause damage if I never changed it?
You need to do this service every 30k to 40k Miles depending on your driving habits or you will end up destroying your transmission for sure! There's is a reason why this service needs to be done... Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

Thank you! When you run the engine at the end in D and N, do you keep your foot in the brake, or do you let the wheels engage?
Always foot on the Brake! This is just so that the fluid goes all over around the transmission and so forth... Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

Could you have removed the transmission mount nuts and jacked up the back of the transmission enough to have easier access to the rear bolt?
Yes this would help but you have to take the additional parts away and this can only be done if you the car on a lift. But yes lifting the transmission would give you a better access to the rear bolts. Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍
How about the fluid in the torque converter? After removing the screw, they can also be drained and replaced.

Great explanation. Thank you for sharing your profession experience on youtube.
Hello mate I hope you’re doing well
Could you please tell me can I do refill by hand pump or I have to use only electric pump
Thank you very much

Thanks - Why did you replace the pan?
Very simple - The Transmission Fluid filter is built in the pan as you can see in the video. Thanks 👍
I later learned those were filters and reason to get the pan. Thank you!@@projectathos
MB 17 is the same as MB 236.17? I'm trying to get original fluid from the dealer.

How much the cost would be to change 2016 350d transmission oil?
Change it where?

Aren't you supposed to torque those new oil pan bolts to 4nm+90 degree?
YES but when you try to do the 90 degrees the bolts will not go so I am using my experience and common sense because I don't want to break one these weak Aluminum bolts inside so I torqued them by hand until I feel they are tight... Did you leave the drain plug in 1 position?
Yes, you need to set the adapter to Position 1 to fill back the transmission.
Position 4 to drain
Position 1 to fill
Thank you great video
is the procedure the same for 2021 GLS450 3.0L ? thank you
