Born and raised in the Black Country, Joanne was originally discovered by Eurythmics' Dave Stewart as a 16 year old guitar prodigy. Through hard work and near-constant touring, she is now one of the hottest young names on the British Blues circuit. She is admired and respected by many leading blues guitarists including Joe Bonamassa.
Joanne was voted "Best British Female Vocalist" at the British Blues Awards in 2010 and 2011. Her current album, Almost Always Never, was helmed by the legendary record producer Mike McCarthy (Spoon, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Patty Griffin) in Austin, Texas. Joanne was invited as special guest to Annie Lennox performing at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert in June 2012.

Heard JST for the first time last night at her gig in Whelans,Dublin. Amazing set. Joanne is the real deal. And she can sing. Live ,she sounds like the late great Janis Joplin. Do yourself a favour and watch out for her next gig and get yourself there . Ninety minutes of high energy,quality.rock 😎n Joanne

I can think of no higher praise to give Joanne Shaw Taylor than this, I have listened to the blues my entire life and in that time I have come across a few must-have albums/CDs no blues fan should ever be without... Alvin Lee - Nineteen Ninety Four, SRV, and Double Trouble One Night In Texas Live 1989, Joe Bonamassa Live At The Greek and Joanne Shaw Taylor Songs From The Road (Live at the Borderline). All of these are of an artist probably the best at that time and producing what may be the best or most memorable performance of their careers. I am not saying these artists are or were the best in the world but I am saying I have never heard it done better. That is mighty fine company for Joanne Shaw Taylor to be compared with but she has proven time and time again that is exactly where Joanne deserves to be. Your must-have collection might differ from mine but if Joanne isn't in it maybe it should be. Just saying.
