I really like how he explains each part so i can fix my own Type 69 tank
can relate
yup, finally fixing my mum's too
The instructions are great, but they're for a Type 69-II.
Mine is a Type 69-I :(
Very clear and concise. No detail left unexplained.
Cant wait to get one for Christmas XD
The Tank series is one of the coolest series on RUclips!
And it's one of its kind!
Its very impressive to see how you guys recycle every part and dont replace anything with new stuff
The engine doesn't look that used, just weathered from being left to rot... Thus the parts that didn't suffer too much, would be as good as they were when they last run. No need to use new parts :P
You know Tanks are build like ... well ... Tanks !
Because there are no new parts... lol
Mechanics repair parts, salesmen replaces parts
@@mastermilo82 Exactly and yes i know the parts for this engine are maybe rare and expensive (looking at you other commentares) but i know other channels where they almost could buy directly a new engine...
Hello from New Zealand! Thank you for subtitles haha
Love my kiwi family in masterton. Take care kiwi greetings from holland
Lol yea same. This Kiwi would be screwed with out them
I worked for 3 years in a company that, among other things, dealt with the repair of tank engines, mainly Russian production. These are the real beasts of the engine, pure raw power. That was an interesting job.
Where are you from?
@@josa4760 From Croatia, Karlovac.. the factory was for the production, service, repair of marine diesel generator sets, and it cooperated with the Croatian army, during the homeland war from 1990 to 1995. It was a complex of several connected plants, which produced energy machines and equipment... from diesel engines, all kinds of pumps, valves, compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, sliding bearings... Unfortunately, it stopped working, like most of the industry in Croatia... because of the treacherous, corrupt government they didn't want to sell it to strong investors, who were interested... because they decided that we don't need industry, but only unsustainable mass tourism... But okay... now I've gone too deep into politics.
Tolerances are so tight on this motor only the finest garden tools are needed to rebuild it.
In your face ...never seen, before technology. & That What You Say ? You See This Type All Time ? Right ... zero boost Yep
So happy to watch the video very early and have the subtitles ready :)
Greetings from Lithuania
The work you guys are doing is insane love it, everyone needs to head over to the 2nd channel, it has all the long videos about the tank restoration and more
Sadly no subtitles tho.
Thanks for latest vid Milo and for subtitles. Keep them coming please, I love your energy and sense of humour. And Dirk, your boy wonder is exactly that.
Greetings from Portugal, amazing job guys.
Boa.
Outstanding work guys! Ballsy move on the lathe!
Mig It’s not the regular way of fixing valves, but it seems to work. If it can’t be done as it should, it should be done like it can.
Greeting from Florida, USA. Love all the videos, mate. Keep'em coming.
These guys are actually some really good mechanics. I like how they work very much.
I like your improvised tools.
It will run but it won't last long with the cylinder sleeves in that shape, especially if they weren't cleaned properly after honing.
Nobody else is rebuilding a tank engine though, so I can't complain!
I can't wait to see this thing up and running, I've always loved giant engines.
Greetings from Brazil! Your videos are amazing. Can't wait for the engine start.
Helemaal goed.
Vet om te zien dit. Milo bedankt
This is the point in the Haynes manual where it says "improvise a tool from spare parts in your workshop", and I can't even weld.
Keigoed! ;-)
Heerlijk! Na kamp een Werkplaatsvlog marathon. Lekker 7 afleveringen kijke. En mn vader is ook fan geworden😂🙌🏻😝
Nice rebuild! I like to work this way and rebuilt my car's engine last summer.
I have noticed my self that when grinding valves it's good to open and close them as you spin them on the drill, when i don't do it i usually find some fine lines from trapped grit.
You can also put a thin rubber hose on the valves when spinning them on the lathe.
After working on over head valve engines and fighting with valve collets, that idea for retaining the valve spring and setting lash is ingenious!
A good solution for a combat vehicle engine that is expected to have a HEAT round kill it on the battlefield well before it does enough miles or hours to require a valve job. Otherwise, yes it makes adjustment easy but at the expense of valve face and seat life because the valve is not rotating. Evidence the fact that just about all 48 of the vales on that engine were leaking. So not a good solution for an automotive engine expected to do 100,000+ miles before any serious repair is needed.
Hammer and painting a $7000 tank.
Can't wait to see the whole tank restored,up and running 😎❤
Honing should be done on very slow rotation speed and move tool quickly up and down so that cross pattern on cylinder is around 45 degrees.
Probably shouldn't be lapping the valves with a drill either
It's a bit late now but as an engine rebuilder when using cylinder honing tools you should use paraffin to lubricate as you go.
Didn't think it was possible to machine a valve. I've just never even thought of trying it. I'm sure millions of "Technicians" had heart attacks just watching it. People that get real grease under their nails tend to do what works.
Machining valves is certainly possible (and relatively common) but theres tools designed for it so that you grind them evenly and at the right angle.
HSS cutter wouldn't but a carbide will, easily as we've seen.
This repair is nothing less of a miracle, it's just amazing!
For a Huge engine that was designed a million years ago, it's remarkably Light, Powerful, and simple to work on.
I wish I could get one (nat available in the USA) I'd build a Hot Rod around it.
Have you picked up a big diesel V12 recently ?
@@jamesaustralian9829 A V12 Cat of the same displacement weighs around 9000 pounds. This Russian Baby weighs 2200. That is light by big diesel standards.
Nice job guys!! Cant wait to see it starting
Video zit goed in elkaar. En de muziek past er mooi bij.
Ga zo door👍
Lekker bezig mastermilo en dirk
Really amazed by the knowledge and the work spirit you guys show. Both my inner tank- and tech nerd are enjoying this very much. :)
The best chanel on RUclips, i Love yours projects!
I would donate monthly for subtitles on Werkplaatsvlog, anyone else with me ? This is such an epic project, I always want to see more, but the auto generated auto translated subtitles are painful :(
Improvised valve spring compressor, love it and done it a few times, with a little hassle (not easy) it is possible to replace valve seals without taking the head off, i have done this a couple of times :)
And this is stuff which i like to see in my recomendation. Great work.
splish splash yr opinion is trash
Goed en knap werk jongens 👍 echt top. Jullie werken hard en maken video's. En jullie weeten echt super veel. Ga zo door 👍
This is the video I was waiting the most
Just discovered your channel, i suspect I'll be getting nothing done this week as I'll be bingeing your videos 😉😎
Always an education watching you guys!. Muff said!. 🙂
I miss seeing diesel running around 😞
I have been waiting forever for this video
Prachtige presentatie! Ik volg!
The Netherlands truly are a magical place
It is
Well, actually most of us have a bike instead of a T-69 :)
It's so nice to see Croatian soccer flag on the wall, after all, we are the real winners of the 2018 Cup!❤🇭🇷 1:58
Since you have the engine in pieces you should have done the honing and valvejob in machineshop. Doing honing with that tool to cylinder in that condition is almost next to nothing. When doing the valves it doesnt give you proper seal if you just grind the valve and seal as flat as possible, your losing the pressure created by the spring more flat the seal is. But anyhow I appriciate your hard and good work.. Huge project!
Hillside Projects We contacted a few machineshops, but they weren’t very coöperative and fixing it ourselves we found more interesting. It’s not the regular way and not the best, but I think it will work. It’s a crude piece of Soviet engineering. It’s not designed to be regular, it’s designed to keep on going forever without taking too much care of.
@@mastermilo82 it will work but I'd be concerned about a sticky valve guide or something breaking once assembled, I rebuilt an engine once and the counterbalance bearing was the only thing I didn't replace geuss what spun ?
Those valves are amazing. Huge stem and clearance adjustment is very clever
Majstor je MAJSTOR !
Das ist echte Männer Hobby. Super Arbeit 👍
Greetings from Campinas, Brazil!!
Thanks for the English subtitles. Yay coming along!
Thanks for the subtitles it makes more sense now.
Zip- Tie Ring compressor, if it works it works :) Nice video :)
Hopelijk doet hij het volgende week
I started liking the channel.
Buen trabajo!! Saludos desde Chile.
Jullie kunnen fantastisch sleutelen !!
Marvellous video, can't understand a word..!
Hello from Russia! Respect you!
Clear as mud, i understand every word
Gasten.... ik heb jullie net ontdekt...verhaal vd tank gekeken... zelden zulke leuke tv gezien !!

Gaaf project Milo!
Great video, I use a piece of broken hacksaw blade to clean the back of valves.
More of this for sure.
Very good guys. Keep up the good work.
Your drill is going way too fast. Hone marks should should be 45 degrees
I saw this & increased the speed of my drill.
Correct, should be half that speed, even less. I doubt that this will even go through the run in oil and wont fight any wars, if it just has to start and burble this will work.
Didn't see any lube
@@robertc49 thats what she said
A lot of hard work! well done good sir.
Thanks for the captions :)
Fantastic work once again boys 👍
Nice to see the subtitles because I was missing some info from watching the other channel :o)
Dude, some croatian national squares (red/white) on the wall! Respect! 0:32
That's the Brabantian flag actually (southern dutch province), but I understand the confusion :)
@@BasBastiaansen when every croatian sees the red/white squares it can be only I say only associated to croatial national jersey (football team) and it's official recognized in the world, (as far I know). Mybe my knowledge is limited, sorry for that.
@@Perekkk1 no need to apologize. Brabant is just a province within the netherlands, I for sure don't know the flags of the provinces/areas/states within croatia as well :)
I can't understand a bloody word you guys say but I like it
turn on subs
Love it! Can’t wait to see it run 👌
very interesting to see the inners of a Type 69.
So much patience more than I have
Amazing
Great job! Very good 👍
Just great! Keep up the good work guys! Very interesting and entertaining! Cheers
