Thanks, ATEPeter, for the review of the Buck Hiline XL cleaver (which I did NOT know they made). I like the larger knives ... and I always appreciate your design/size/blade preferences (trying to say ... I'm glad you back.) Thanks for the share ... you and Christine have a great 4th weekend.
Looks pretty awesome. That big hollow ground cleaver blade probably cuts like a beat. One thing I was hoping you would cover: how’s the pocket clip? I have the original Hiline and the one thing I can’t stand about it-the reason I basically never carry it-is that there is like a hair’s width of clearance under the pocket clip. I can’t get that thing to fully seat on the pocket of even my thinnest material shorts. Just a huge blunder on an otherwise incredibly well thought-out design.
That's interesting about the clip. Blade Banter has an original HiLine with the same issue. The one I have had a lot more room under the clip so I didn't even think about it. The XL has a clip with enough space, and a decent ramp. So it slips into the pocket pretty easily.
@@ATherapeuticEdge yeah I think it’s because the design has it looping out from under the scale, they just didn’t think to make the loop bigger than standard fold-over clips, to make sure that there’s still room under it for the entire scale to fit in and still allow pants fabric. Maybe Buck made a quiet adjustment on the Hiline model and that’s why yours is fine. I have been meaning to try and take the clip off and modify the fold to make it a little roomier, but I just haven’t gotten around to it because it’s not as simple to take the clip off thanks to that under-the-scale design. Glad to hear that’s not an issue on the XL.
Oh man!! I do like the HiLine! The XL looks good for the larger handed folks!!!

I’m glad you did this video. Not many people are giving it attention & can’t understand why. It’s a great knife!
Yeah Orion Knives Cetus! 👍💜👍
That's awesome! Great review Peter 👍
I bought a buck high line at Walmart over the weekend I sure love the design
It's a great knife. I hope Buck sees that and continues to lean into designs and builds like this
That’s a beauty!! I want one bad now! I had no idea about this one
