I live 100 miles southwest of the Arch (McCook, NE). They built most of the arch on the south side of the interstate. They laid out a BUNCH of steel plates on a hard packed grade and hauled the entire arch across the interstate in the middle of the night after shutting down the highway. I happened to see this happen live on TV.
I grew up in Nebraska. Thank you for visiting our state and enjoying our homespun hospitality. I-80 is a great drive across the state however, if you want see and experience more of Nebraska, visit Fort Robinson State Park, Chadron State Park and travel along Hwy 20 in northern Nebraska for some beautiful countryside.
As a Nebraska transplant, you couldn’t be more right. This place flies under the radar as being an amazing place to live and that’s just the way we like it. 😉
Hey we’ve slept in that parking lot more than a few times! Always empty and free overnighting is allowed. Fairgrounds are about 5 mins from there with a free dump station too 👍🏽. Skip the always crowded Walmart in Ogallala and sleep here if youre traveling I-80!
The arch is not terrible. Go to the Plainsman Museum in Aurora NE, it is just off of I-80 East of Grand Island. I promise, you will enjoy it a lot more.
I have been to the archway several times already and have taken my friends there on road trips. Even though I live in Lexington, KY and my cousin Sam, which he lives in Denver, CO, rather than take I-64 and I-70, we would go out of our way and take I-74 to I-80 to visit the Archway, then take I-76 to Denver. My friends and I loved the museum built over I-80.
Thanks for sharing. If you are in the area again, check out the Home on the Range cabin in Kansas about an hour drive south of the arch and see where Dr. Higley wrote the words to the famous song!
You're pronouncing it fine 😁 it's in between the original fort keeeer-knee and how we Nebraskans say it car-knee but we are rollers, we'll happily roll with it, that's how we are 😁 TY for the tour! I've driven by it year after year thinking one day... 😊 Maybe this year although my heart's yearning for a revisit to The Stuhr in Grand Island 🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ shhhhhhh 🤫🤭😁
Abby you are looking terrific. As for “Another Roadside Attraction “ great book. I am so happy to catch up with you two after a year and be able to share part of your holiday- in Oz. Much love and respect and the best wishes to you both.
Love you guys and your adventures!! Keep on keepin on Guys and stop and enjoy all you can!! 4.5 million mile truck driver and like the song says..... I've been everywhere man... I've been everywhere!!!
Midwest Partitions were one of the contractor for this job. I didn't personally work on the archway. I would have been in Lincoln, building the Embassy Suites, at that time. 1999 or 2000🤔 Midwest Partitions home town Thedford Ne
I visited the arch about 15 years ago. Great place. Can't wait to see your Chimney Rock vlog. I saw a video that they finally built a trail so you can get close up to it. You couldn't do that on my last visit 10 years ago. Happy travels!
I don't LOVE roadside attractions, but If you're ever on I-70 in Casey Illinois, it's worth a stop. Many world's biggest ______'s. It was a fun distraction on a long drive.
Y’all left out one of the most important facts about that tourist spot…it’s the central central location of the United States. Central east west and central north south.
Enjoy your videos but sometimes your mic volume is low, like when you are driving, and other times they are much louder. Have to keep adjusting our volume on the computer. Enjoy your travels.
Minden ,Ne . Home of the Pioneer Museum. The largest one I have been to ❣️.
Have been to the Archway several times...it never disappoints ... Nebraska has a lot of great stuff
I'm from Nebraska and never been there. Need to go check it out.

Another cool museum is Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska.
If you’re going to Casey’s, get PIZZA!! Regular or breakfast, it’s all delish! Enjoy your trip!

I love dioramas. I have always found them fascinating.
Everyone, please never, ever travel OFF the interstate in any direction...we Nebraskans like being a well kept secret! 😂
I don’t blame you one bit!! 🤫
😊
🤣🤣 shhhhh 😁
Glad you enjoyed your time in Nebraska.
Well, it seems to be working…even in Kansas
Thanks for sharing. If you are in the area again, check out the Home on the Range cabin in Kansas about an hour drive south of the arch and see where Dr. Higley wrote the words to the famous song!
Ash Falls. I tried not to share (keeping Nebraska secret), but it's beyond amazing and awe inspiring.
Very nice, thanks Adam and Abby

Lived in Kearney for a few years. You did it 👍😊 good. Thanks.
Oh! Did you catch Pioneer Village in Minden? There's more still 😉😊
Thank you. It's been years since I have been there.
Now I think I know where your headed. US roadside attractions. Watching. and enjoying. Wonderful!
Casey's pizza is good but you should eat a Runza while you're in NE.

But you missed the Museum-of-Speed in Lincoln !
I miss Nebraska! I took the Oregon trail and now I'm living in Oregon.

Pretty near place. 😊 will need to check it out ... we've driven under tge arch but did not stop 😢
Good video of the Archway. That was our first stop on the way to Montana. Didn’t know we could overnight there

I have driven under this Archway so many times over the years for work before retiring and have never stopped to take a tour. Very cool!!! 👍👍

Sounds like a fun place to visit!
did you have a runza?

Flat as a Cast Iron Surface Plate
That's a bison not a buffalo.
Did you guys get your truck fixed?
The Great Migration, those were some brave people back then.👍🇺🇲
You are so right!!
What the heck was that? A railroad crossing stop arm on the highway entrance before the Arch?
A road closure gate. I-80 gets closed often in the winter because of snow and high winds.

Thanks for taking us along!
No wonder there’s so many accidents in American when people don’t obey stop signs.
Wife and I have been f/t for 3 yrs now. Over the rockies 5 x's. Kansas and Nebraska will not be re-visted. Boooring..
Good stay away………
