Honestly i think this is the best DC movie ever made outside of the Nolan trilogy...Gal Gadot's casting is so up there with Chris Reeve and i grew up watching Superman 1,2 & 3 and wanted to be that guy.I loved Patty Jenkins nods to the first Superman movie with the revolving door and back alley gunshots. Is it perfect...no...but is any movie perfect...and this movie is so perfectly timed and needed with what is happening in the world today
There's also one very subtle nod to Lynda Carter's WW. Linda's twirling to transform from Diana to WW couldn't have been copied, it would have been too ridiculous. But Gal does transform from Diana to WW in an instant. And it happens in what for me, & many others I suspect, is the most emotionally uplifting segment of the movie. Our group of protagonists entered the trenches as a team, with Steve basically leading. Steve - "Diana we have to go." Diana - "We need to help these people." Steve - "We can't save everyone in this war." Diana - "How can you say that? What is the matter with you?" Steve - "This in no man's land, this is not something you can cross, it's not possible. It's not what we came here to do." This short interaction perfectly displays the dynamics between Steve and Diana at this point. He the war weary pragmatist, she, though a powerful demi-godess, still also a naïve young woman, being led through this world that is new to her. At the point where Steve says, "It's not what we came here to do", Steve's face can be seen, but we only see Diana from behind and from the right. Her hair is tied up, so we can presume that she's dressed in her 1918 clothes. The next instant, from a different angle, Gal turns around, her hair is flowing free, and she's no longer Diana, she's WW, tiara in place. Steve - "It's not what we came here to do." WW - "No, but it's what I'm going to do." That scene, and the battle that follows, is as emotionally uplifting as anything I've seen in any action movie. This is why I think all the praise that has been heaped on Gal for this performance is fully justified. She conveys a wonderful range of emotions in this movie.
I wonder (no pun intended) if people realize how important this movie is for little girls and women. It feels so natural to us (men) to have superhero, to have bigger-than-life role models. Women do NOT have that, not until today! Please more of these movies and less Twilight!
Jose Striedinger Yeah, but to be fair, none of my female friends or coworkers care about superhero movies, and I'm a nurse so I have a LOT of female coworkers. I can only ever discuss my enjoyment of the superhero movies mostly with men, and I don't think this movie is going to change that, unfortunately. I just think that certain movie genres are preferred more by women than by men, and vice versa. Maybe this movie will open the eyes of those people not willing to give superhero movies a shot, I hope so.
actually women love romance, marriage and that is why twilight is important for women BTW not all women want to be like wonder woman most want to be just FEMININE WOMEN !
I can't say enough, how happy I am seeing the success of this film! It's such an important film for not just women, but for everyone! Seeing how emotional you ladies are about this film is so heart warming =). I hope this is just the beginning of creating equality and badassery of women in film and in the world =).
This movie is going to (and deserves to) make all of the money. Dani's anecdote about a non-comic fan, non-action movie fan loving the film and crying because of it speaks to the sort of broad appeal it will have. Fans like me, who have been waiting for a good DCEU film finally got a win...but more importantly, so did women and girls everywhere.
Believe the hype! every action set piece is remarkable, all the part in between them are either hilarious or touching. Give Patty Jenkins any project she wants.
Apparently, WW role in the upcoming Justice League is minimal to say the less. It is said that every JL member (including Batman) gets their own special attention except Wonder Woman.
A Unique Disposition Well if it makes you feel better, in this film, ww does everything. Her sidekicks are almost useless, Diana is the one at the center of everything
AL K Supposedly, Justice League will undergo a “massive reshoot,” so they may give Wonder Woman a more defined arc in JL, considering the positive reactions from movie critics toward the WW movie.
A Unique Disposition From what I understood, the reshoot has a lot to do with the fact that a new director is running the show. Regardless, reshoot are common for blockbuster movies
I normally don't watch any reviews before watching the movies BUT I have HIGH expectations for this movie and I really need to know if I'll have to adjust them... Let's see
In the Rebirth comic the elder Castalia says to Diana that the "Our Gods gave us many things. And when called, each of us must be willing to give back to them." Haven't seen the film yet, but I'm guessing that Hippolyta was given the gift of Diana, and when circumstance called upon her Hippolyta gave back. Heart-breaking and Beautiful.
movies out now for 4 month and i`m still watching these reviews (and trailer eractions... whats wrong with me?). it`s great to share this enthusiasm for this great film. so i want you to know that i enjoyed this immensely and of course that you`re absolutely right in everything you say. i`m happy for all girls an women that they got their hero on screen at last.
Love you guys geeking out about this!!! I'm a dude and was crying when I saw the comic con trailer. I just can't believe DC beat Marvel to a female superhero movie. Awesome!
I really enjoyed watching this, love you ladies. Going tomorrow for an early screening and I'll probably see it multiple times. Congratulations, this is a win for superhero movies, DC Comics, but more importantly, women and mankind. Cheers!
its about time.(yes i know im late) lol. great vid, girls. have a great rest of your week and weekend. Im seeing this thursday night. ..I am soo excited 😍💖
I hope the Supergirl tv show learns lessons from this movie. You can have a fierce feminine movie, without being preachy or tearing down men. And this is coming from someone that enjoys Supergirl. Fun show but there's room for improvement.
Cleostabtra Well, the movie has guns in it as it's set in World War I. But, it doesn't glorify the use of weapons. If anything, it does the total opposite.
Cleostabtra By "against guns", I assume you meant against violence in films. They are action scenes, some involves guns, some involves bombs, others are swords fights. Nothing bloody nor graphic
Fucking ey. Pupusas? Seriously? Did you just say pupusas like if it were something normal. Fuck, yeah, you did! Awesome. I enjoyed this review. Especially the pupusas reference. Revueltas for me, please.
Not sure exactly what you're referring to but they mentioned the 40's as the era when Wonder Women comics were first printed, not the era where the comics (or movie) were set.
Um, I plan to see the movie. But well. This review wasn't as good as most HyperRPG post in my personal opinion. It felt sort of like all that was said was this film is important for women but everyone should be able to enjoy it. Over and over. Not trying to be a flamy jerk. Just used to a little more exposition on the different good and bad aspects of the movie. Hmm. Then again maybe its because it was spoiler free. Or maybe I was just missing the point. Anyway as always love HyperRPG and still a fan of all the cool ladies who did this review!
This Movie was great but i think the view of women in the US is so backwards that they have to pin all their hopes on this Movie to show how strong women are. I Think in other countries women are better represented that they dont need a Movie to tell them that. Fells like the US is like europé was in the 1950's, very steriotypical. Women have always been equal to men and should be but the way these women talk about the Movie just makes it seem that women have not moved forward in society untill now.
I like the panelists here, but do we really need an all female panel discussing this movie? Are Hector or Adam not interested in this movie? I personally would have preferred a more diverse panel. Does this mean that only the men will review spiderman, or Dunkirk, or war for the planet of the apes, or the dark tower, etc? Also, I know there have been panels where only men have reviewed the film, but I doubt that came about as any sort of statement about the movie, more like they asked, "Who's here and who wants to review this movie today?" I just feel like this was deliberately done as some kind of "See, women will see this movie, it's important to bring more women into the superhero genre." Maybe one gender just prefers certain kinds of movies over the other. I have female friends who are more upset over the "skimpy" outfit WW has than seeing this as a female empowerment issue. Some women are a little hypocritical that way, as if we didn't get scenes of men shirtless or more (looking at you batman in BvS), in pretty much every superhero movie that's been done in this new era of superhero film.
Adam Hlavac I like diversity, I'm asking for it by asking for yours or Hector's review (I also like the other guy, but couldn't remember his name... Augosto? I followed you three from Superhero News). I also like female critics, I could list all the female reviewers I've watched so far, but that's a little much. I just don't like feeling pandered to bc it's a female led superhero film. I would have preferred at least one male reviewer on the panel, if diversity is what you're going for. And also, I do like yours, Hector's and Augosto's (?) reviews on film. If this wasn't your intention with the panel, my apologies. That's just how it came across to me.
Jennifer Ramos as a channel it's important to have other voices be heard and the perspective these 3 brought were the perspective of 3 young women and they spoke to the film from that point of view. It wasn't pandering, it was the 3 biggest WW fans who work in the office and that's a review we'd like to get out, having a male, any male, on the panel makes for a different video. This is the video we wanted to make.
Cameron Rice Thanks for the response. If this was the video you wanted to make, I respect that. I personally love comic book movies and am usually the only one or the only one of the FEW of my female friends who does. So I understand wanting to get the female voice heard, the one that's usually not heard from as much when it comes to comic book movies. I just think the channel as a whole should try to do that with all reactions and reviews, not just for the female led films. Of the 8 movie reviews in Hyper RPGs reviews playlist, only this one had a solely female panel, all the others had no women or less women than men. Of the 37 reaction videos in Hyper RPGs reaction playlist (not including the 2 that were private), only two had either more women than men or an equal number of women and men, none had only women. I would like to hear the female opinion on all sorts of films, not just WW.
chick on the right said: The bad guys are German, so that has to be WW2!" Girls, whats the matter with u and history. why always assuming the germans with ww2?
SeeL Sen wow um noooo its ww1 fool hence when Chris pine says this war is to end all wars btw the Germans were involved in the first world war and lost lead to the treaty imposed by France and England which drove Germany into ww2 read a freaking book
Paul Eigeldinger dude, i know that It is ww1. My comment was meant sarcastic. i was just upset, that everyone always assuming the Nazis, if germany is involved.
yah your sarcasm was weak it came off as you not knowing your history.fyi my grandfather served in both world wars for the Germans so I too and very well aquinted with it on a personal level
Paul Eigeldinger yeah. u kinda right. sarcasm and irony never works in writings. but the chick on the right said IT's ww2, because they were germans. u got angy because of the Same reason i did. No Hard feelings bro. i even change My Post.
Damn the whole review is a female liberation emotional hoopla. I bet this movie would be pretty fun with some great moments, but I think it'll be more like a 7.5/10 kinda movie.
Nostalgic Bliss Look, the film is about the comic symbol for women. First female superhero film or this crazy Comic book film era. One of the few films directed by a woman. Jessica Chastain just made the news at Cannes because women dont get good roles. Really few critics will dare to go against WW

Hyper RPG any after credit scene?
Austin Pena the producers confirmed there is no post credits
Nope.

TheDuxun1977 How would you know what most women want. You don't speak for all of us. Also wonder woman is very feminine.
Pablo Cuadras This movie is gonna make a ton. I agree 1 billion box office
Jose Striedinger How many women do you know that could beat up 5 grown men?
It's not like I needed a review to watch the film. But you guys just made me more excited.
Am I the only one, who has been listening to, almost 2 hours of Wonder Woman reviews?
I NEEEEEEEDED THIS MOVIE TO BE GOOD, LETS ALL ENJOY THIS MOMENT
So glad you guys liked so much. It's about damn time females were represented like the gods they are.

Love seeing all the positive comments, this is so fantastic☺️☺️☺️
really great review! i'm seeing it on the 2nd and cannot wait! loved your reaction here, so happy you are so happy :)

Nice to see people loving a movie that was Zack Snyder's vision
This was my favorite review of this movie I can see how good it is from your passion

Orlando White agreed. i adore her as well
I agree!!!!! I was in tears too. Awesome movie!! I loved it.
You girls have a point, why don't other movies show all woman of all age, I find all woman beautiful! That might be the Latino in me! :P
For anyone who has seen this, is WW appropriate for a 10 year old boy? He really wants to see it but my family is against guns.
Cleostabtra Well, the movie has guns in it as it's set in World War I. But, it doesn't glorify the use of weapons. If anything, it does the total opposite.
Cleostabtra
By "against guns", I assume you meant against violence in films. They are action scenes, some involves guns, some involves bombs, others are swords fights. Nothing bloody nor graphic
I need that gold WW logo shirt Dani
Thanks guys! I'm crying at work, jk!

Fighting in the trenches kinda gives away the fact that it's WWI lol :)
Not sure where you guys get Xena from..she was nothing like xena at all
I LOVED every minute of it!!!!!!
Fucking ey. Pupusas? Seriously? Did you just say pupusas like if it were something normal. Fuck, yeah, you did! Awesome. I enjoyed this review. Especially the pupusas reference. Revueltas for me, please.
WW1 started in 1914, so not the 40's. No shade x
Not sure exactly what you're referring to but they mentioned the 40's as the era when Wonder Women comics were first printed, not the era where the comics (or movie) were set.
teenage spaceland oh okay, my bad 👍🏼
good review but you guys justified my fear that this movie will contribute to people knowing less about world war 1 and the era.
LordStickMax
Well if you didnt know anything about ww1 before, you're definitely not gonna learn much about it in this film.
It takes places in 1918

are the Amazonians descendants of the Kryptonians?
mark luis I think they're using Greek mythology

No this film is full blown greek mythology. I am looking forward to see how they will harmonize this with darkseid
