Yes Aspinall has weaknesses, some are very obvious to the eye. He stopped throwing kicks as much since his knee injury, he likes to come in tight on his punches and for whatever reason his opponents never backup to allow him to hit air. Also he burns a lot of energy in the first round, I highly doubt a heavyweight could take that energy to the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds.
I spent a week with Greg Jackson in Albuquerque, New Mexico going through and learning his system to teach it in Raleigh NC he spent an entire day with me explaining patterns. It started by explaining the patterns found in Bach and Beethoven and other musicians and the way that they write and play. We talked about patterns with great writers and philosophers and the words and the ways that they wrote had patterns. Then he went into talking about patterns, tactics and strategies of great warrior leaders and their methods of studying other opposing forces and studying their patterns when they were in war with others. Just knowing this, how could Jon Jones not be an expert in this when he has Greg Jackson there to help develop this skill?
Jon jones also has patterns who cares. Eye pokes to gauge distance, dirty leg kicks when eye pokes fail to keep distance, elbows to the back of head and knees up close because he can’t box and has no power. Takedowns if the other guy can knock him out. And steroids.
@@ShonEasthalf those things aren’t true and your just hating and the other half is common sense what? If someone seems to be able to ko you why would you not take them down? Jones is a prodigy! He transitioned from wrestling straight to MMA without haven taking any martial arts prior to fighting. I wouldn't count him out, he may make it look easy, if they ever fight!🤔
The issue is that jones can't box very well in comparison so I can't see him doing anything with those patterns when he's sliding back with his left arm stook out he's gonna get cracked just like everyone else does even pavlovich who is a very good boxer didn't have much chance to find those patterns
Tom Aspinall at best, is a bigger Lyoto Machida, or a bigger faster Vitor Belfort. Speed, power, boxing, yes Tom is more athletic than Jon. A lot of fighters were more athletic than Jon Jones. Reyes was more athletic. Anthony Smith was more athletic at the time. But look at how Jon Jones beat them? Thiago Santos looked an entire weight class bigger than Jon Jones in that fight, and look how Jon Jones beat him? How good is your speed and power if you don't have a knee? Jon Jones will adapt to Aspinall, who also has bad knees, who also telegraphs his moves. The only thing Aspinall has is reflexes speed, power. The only way Tom can win is by knock out, in the first round. And only with a punch.
jon grew up in a house with professional athletes , there is no way tom is a better athlete than jon , the only sport i see tom being better at is soccer and cricket

It does the interim, the division, the UFC, and the entire sport a disservice. If he were literally anyone other than maybe McGregor, Dana would call him out on it.
Jon is suppose to lose to Tom. Tom is bigger, stronger, faster and younger. And the the faster is the most important. Now if Jon was 32 years old and still the older, it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but at 38 years of age, no
@@flame-sky7148 everyone knows the "what could happen" if a raging Tom made any type of mistake and a 250lb, 38yr old Jon lands on top when they go down. It's not going to matter how fast or how big Tom is.
@@ziahamm1603 The problem I have is Tom is big and stalking similar to the way DC fights but without the world class wrestling. The guys that have given Jones trouble are long and lanky guys like Reyes and Gus. Also at heavyweight Jones looks better.
It's the definitive stance all the old timers are making which is pretty hilarious. Guys like Rampage and Cain trying to defend their era. Cain, in particular, is an utter legend and all time heavyweight great, but this whole thing of something as general, basic and introductory as 'Tom has patterns so Jon will figure him out, guaranteed' is pretty hysterical. Jones is an utter genius and might have the single best fight IQ but that didn't do him a lot of good in Gus 1, Santos or Reyes (the definitive loss) and the reasoning behind why they are ruling out Tom to have the potential for one of those performances or better is very obvious.
DJ has a better fight IQ. You are definitely right about the retired fighters all living vicariously by picking Jones. A few other people have pointed that out as well.
If someone thinks his behavior outside of the sport isn't part of the GOAT equation then I could see how someone would call him GOAT... until he stalled and ducked the interim champ because he's afraid to take the L while simultaneously holding up an entire active division while demanding "fuck you" money. At that point, you can't even call him the GOAT even just within the boundaries of the sport unless you're mentally deficient. Dweebs glazing this PoS human never gets old.
There will always be people that try to discredit what he's done throughout his career. He beat the old guard, his generation and the next up and coming generation and has not been beaten. No other champion past or present can say the same. Many use the argument that he was on juice. Everyone during that time was on something. You can hate him for his antics outside the cage but you can't deny what he's done inside of it.
Great fighters bring the Army and the Navy into the ring. Some more Navy. less Army and vice versa. it has to be aspinal, francis has a good chance of plating jones but aspinal earn it. pereira would likely loose to both of them. jones will get paid hard. fracis is the most expensive. aspinal and pereira are likely the cheapest options.
Jones gets enormous publicly offered credit for being potentially the greatest fighter of all the but he also had several fortunate things happen along the way like oblique kicks never being outlawed, multiple eye pokes that would impair an opponent's vision, illegal strikes that should have resulted in a dq, a couple of questionable close decisions, and finally issues with drug use both recreational and performance enhancing. Those elements will always remain part of JJ legacy whether he approves or not.
Uncle Chael!!!! I spoke to Tom yesterday. He said he’s SO glad that you’re no longer fighting because HE’D be ducking YOU! Calling in sick and what not! Thanks for not putting him in that humiliating position. You’re a true champ!!!
The moment that John is out of the MMA conversation entirely will be a good one, a multiple time drug Cheat will never be considered the real goat, the memory of him will fade in less then a year when John is retired.

Me personally, I don't put the old generation above the young bloods. The level of talent is absolutely getting insanely better. And to say or think that Tom ISN'T able to beat Jon is ridiculous, of course he could. Can/will he realistically? I don't think so. What does Tom have that Jon hasn't beat? Tom is super heavy handed with powerful fast blows... But does he punch way harder than Ryan Bader? Or Rampage? Or TRT Vitor, or the ex pro boxer/mma Champ Stipe? Is Tom's wrestling vastly better than the U.S. Olympic Medalist Cormier's? Or is Tom's wrestling mountians greater than Undefeated Uncle Chael's? Or is Tom's Jujitsu/Grappling on a level that it makes all the hall of famer grappling artists, that Jon's beaten, look like amateurs? Say Tom is better in power boxing over Jon, can you beat Jon as a specialist with an advantage in just one area? Can Tom beat Jon? Sure, anyone can beat anyone on a great night. But I see Jon winning 18-19 out of 20 against Tom. That's not a knock against Tom, I think Tom is gonna hold the Heavyweight belt for a good while once Jon retires or gives the belt up. Just my humble opinion.

Bottom line, opinions simply don't matter. True UFC fans who actually know the sport know that 15 and 3 Tom isn't any where close to as skilled as Jon. Jon would defeat 15 and 3 Tom easily.
Why do you mention his record as if he has 3 legitimate losses 😂 First loss was 10 years ago after a 3 year break from mma when he got ankle locked in BAMMA (fair loss but had only just came back to mma and was 20 years old). Second loss was 12-6 elbow, exactly the same as Jon vs Hamill. So if you’re counting that then Jones is definitely not undefeated. Fortune favours the younger guy, but we've already seen Tom lose, and judging by Jon's performance against Stipe, he doesn't look like he's lost a step.
He has lost a step, speed is way down at the heavier weight plus his age won't help him but he has an advantage if he takes Tom to the ground but will he be able to get him there without getting clipped

Aspinall will be on his back, ragdolled worse than what Daniel Cormier did to Henderson.
@davefletch3063 he's 2 and 0 since he came back. Both finishes. Tom runs forward basically. That's a quick sidestep with a check hook. Same way McGregor finished Aldo. Let the other guy's momentum do the work. Cain is right. Look at Tom's fights. His movements are predictable. Too easy for jones.

That's a really difficult fight to pick. If it was three rounds i think Tom would beat him. Because it's 5 rounds I'm going with Jones. Tom has never fought longer than 7 minutes, I think that would really hurt him in the championship rounds against Jones.
Jesus already. ... Jons not going to find a damn pattern off watching a total of 10 damn minutes of total fight time Tom has fighting. Good luck with that. Don't bet the house with your daft kings Chael on Jon because you'd lose your house the next morning if you do 🤣🤣🤣
Aspinall has a pattern. He likes to use his fists and likes to go for the knock out. He's open to counter punches because he leaves his chin sticking out. He reminds me of Deontay Wilder or Lyoto Machida. These are fighters who will blitz you, but you can always catch them by timing them coming in. Lyoto was caught once Jones saw his pattern.
@lucianp2616 Sure, then bet on Jon. Will see what happens soon enough, so long as the world does not fall into a shtf situation like it is in many areas already.
Biggest MMA rule: NEVER bet against Jones! Just don’t do it dude. How many times has Tom gotten counterpunched? Does he have good or bad knees? Has he been subbed by a 40lbs lighter guy in the past? How many fights have Jones lost? Study these things and bet smartly.
I think Tom is either going to deck John Jones in two minutes OR Jon can hold him off, adapts and we get a historic battle where we finally see what Tom is truly capable of and Jon beats him on experience/technique.

@ShonEast this is also accurate

If this fight happens, which is doubtful, jon will likely lose.
Can Tom even beat DC?
@zeaferjones1404 Yeah probably
