Good to see all the work being accomplished , way to go
This was a great video. I love watching the machines do their jobs. I am glad you didn’t break any of the glass on your machines. I work for a rental company and a tractor repair shop and glass for these machines is very expensive and time consuming to replace. Great video Tim
Tim, great project, love to see Tom and Randall. Nothing quite like working with family.
Very interesting project. Glad all were safe and no one hurt. Love your videos
Love seeing the family
Ag tires always have the best traction in the dirt. Just wish they had stronger side wall. Interesting project Tim !!! Although if they were all Orange instead of green you would have gotten more done with less damage... Just teasing Tim.
The sound of your radio communications reminds me of a song called Convoy in the 1970’s. It was a huge hit.
Breaker 1-9. We got ourselves a CON-VOY!
Sounds like you maxed out the capability of your equipment. Nothing wrong with that Tim.
Good progress clearing the trees and brush. Poor ole Salty suffered some wounds, this rugged job can sure find the vulnerable parts of the tractor.
Tim I have an attachment you need to try out! It’s called a tree slayer. I love this thing for taking down trees and brush with my mini. The price is considerably cheaper than the mulching heads and achieving almost the same results. Made like a bush hog, but way heavier duty you would not believe what I have taken out with this thing. I have taken down 16” trees with it safely.
I must see this thing. 16”? That’s insane!!! And you can achieve this with a sub compact?
Edit: as I re-read your comment, I’m guessing you mean mini excavator? Regardless that’s still impressive.
@@lordchaa1598 it cuts in about 7”so I hit both sides of the tree. Dow it goes. The stump you can grind down with the carbide teeth that is mounted on the rotary part. Look it up on google I’m telling you I really like it. I think I paid like 5,000. For it way cheaper than 20,000 for a mulcher
Great video Tim keep them coming 👍🏻
What a project! You said it all…1.8 miles of that stuff on 160acres, repairs, (I was cringing for you) pushing the limits, and then, “perhaps it’s time for something different.” It looks like fun….for a while. Nice to see Clint and he seems to fit right in. Blessings to all.
Great video!
Love all your video's.
I broke my steering hose about 7 years ago. So the tractor was “outstanding in its field” for awhile. I am really enjoying this series. Can’t wait for the next steps
Great video
Great video good way to start the day coffee and me and my son watching another down on the farm episode of ttwt
Thanks!
Tim, you need to talk to the finance committee and buy a skid steer.😂
A compact track loader
I got to drive a John Deere 320 Skid Steer two days ago (contractor dropping off crusher run got his dump-truck stuck in mud and I drove the skid steer 150 ft to tow him out to the road.. What a beast! Not going to run out and buy one for my little "gentleman's farm", but I was impressed with the strength.
I love your content Tim. This one broke my heart as a deer hunter lol, there goes deer bedding close to their Food source!
We have such over population of deer, it is crazy. Plenty of place to hide, and plenty of food.
Actually, the deer are one reason we need to do this. They eat a huge amount of our corn.
@@TractorTimewithTimlet me know if you need a hand with that deer problem!
Promise to only shoot does ? ;-)
And a time for a part run...
Forest mulching is rough on stuff indeed. But oh so much fun work. Good stuff Tim. 🙂
Forestry work is tough on everything, just look at how beat up used skidders are and they are made for it. Stay safe and God Bless yall. Been prayin for your buddies boy.
Problems aside, it looks like that was a fun and productive project.
와우~~~ 멋지네요 ❤❤❤
Good project,
I used to work at a place where then made and sold hoses , some of those fittings are rather salty but if you need it you need it
Great video Tim.
Love these family farming videos.
Love old salty, looking forward to seeing the repair videos. Just a little TLC and probably a few bucks, he will be good as new again.
It's green. There's no such thing as "a few bucks".
@@JCWren You should look at other brands parts . For one New Holland parts make Deere parts look pretty reasonable.
Sure looked like the Kubota outperformed the Deere 🤣
JD over priced over rated, it only sells because of it's name, and it was once made only in the USA.
Man u guys are just beating those tractors
I broke a similar fitting off the steering cylinder on my 4066M. I was doing forestry clean up and ran over a hidden stump. Fortunately, I was able to limp back to my shop spitting hyd fluid every time I turned the wheel. I bought a replacement fitting and two spares.
Sadly you could have been more productive with antique tractors that have more clearance and about the same weight with bigger tires factory. But for what you own you guys did great.
It's time to take the old Oliver for a spin, plenty of ground clearance.
Great video tim it is amazing how much those little hydraulic fittings cost and i agree with other people's comments you need to buy or rent a skid steer but i understand you are trying to utilize the equipment you got.
At least when you break them, you get immediate content by filming fixing them.
Made a trip to the Vill of Noble yesterday to deliver a funeral service. On the way home I honked and waved from 400E but I didn't see you wave back. I couldn't see the clearing at the bottom of the big tower project but the top looked nice and clear. 🙂
But you could see the tower building! Couldn’t see THAT when we started.
I always hate to see equipment being damaged but unfortunately sometimes it come with the job. I seen on the video Tim at one point when you were cutting that debris was flying forward under the tractor and was thinking, boy it would be nice if you had something to keep that from happening.
Another great video with the family!
We may see if we can improve it some. I think a few strategically placed guards might do the trick.
I also watch RUclipsrs that cut and split firewood and they’re always looking for an event
Seems like you could collaborate and get a bunch of them out there and just see what they can get done
Looks like the river bottom is coming along nicely. Maybe before you start another project like this one you should alert SNP that you're coming, and they can restock. Christy, you need to put a cage around your scooter to keep them all from throwing wood chips at you.
Thanks Tim.
That issue reinforces my issue with the Mulcher spinning in the wrong direction...
I’m not sure that is the solution. Spinning the other direction might cause other challenges. Not sure
@@TractorTimewithTim As you back up, it will continue to grind as it pushes the stuff out the back
The way it is now it regrinds on forward travel. traveling backwards it chops once throwing the stuff forward past the chains and into the Tractor it does continue to grind till you move forward again...
@@m9ovich785yea, interesting. The skid steer version rotates the same way as this one. Pulling material downward.
Hey Tim & Christy!:) Really love all those deere(again)!:) Are we gonna get a snowplowing video.:) Thank you!
Ugh! No snow to speak of.
@@TractorTimewithTim So you didnt get any real snow in that coldspell a while ago? did you loose power?
@@jddriver9565 couple inches snow. Did not lose power. Very cold!
@@TractorTimewithTim Glad you didnt lose power!, yea I heard it on the news, sounds terrible!🥶
Suddenly a skid steer with a mulcher is the way to go
Tim and Christy, THANKS for all the great video information. Love your channel, long time subscriber here.
QUESTION: in this video all four of you are communicating thru your headsets. It appears you are using isotunes. How is this communication possible? Each person using a cell phone, conference call style? Or does the isotunes offer direct duplex communication from headset to headset? Thanks!
Hint: thats a video of interest!
Not ISOtunes. This is the Stihl Advance Procom
Nothing runs like a Deere!
Tim - Can you fab up a chain guard that would slide into the drawbar attachment point on the tractor? Pretty simple design - just a "T" with a wide "top of the T" that fits between your rear wheels. 6" or 7" pieces of chain hanging down that would stop or slow down any debris going under the tractor.
Might work. Might drag up junk too.
I really enjoy the communications equipment you guys are using. That is very helpful to be able to work and keep constant communication. What are you using?
Stihl advance procom
Apologies if this has been answered before... On Johny 5, what 3PH attachment is letting you use all those JD 100 lb suitcase weights for rear ballast?
Heavyhitch.com ….there is a cat1, cat2, and now cat3 version which support the 100 pounders. Use code ttwt.
Tim...why didn't you tell everybody you were having a tractor meet....lol sure looked like alot of fun/work/fun
Ha! I’d a been constantly driving to buy parts!!!
I think you might want to upgrade your protection setup. If you want to do brush work you have to prepare to do it. Loose hoses will not survive. Plastic can’t handle flying brush. That’s why I didn’t understand replacing the fenders cause I am always in brush and stuff. You need to get some metal guards. Additional chains hanging down to catch stuff. But you did great with what you had. Crash On!
As an outdoorsman, not a farmer, hate to see good wildlife habitat go. But its not my land, gotta respect that.
The deer population here is out of control. Something needs to be done to reduce.
As for small game, if we can get this cut down as I envision, I think it will actually be better quail and rabbit habitat.
@TractorTimewithTim US Wisconsin guys would have no problems assisting you (if invited) with your deer issues. The rabbits and quail should do better I believe with the brush that will grow back. Be safe out there.
Equipment repair is part of the job. When I owned a bucket truck, it was always requiring upkeep that was expensive. $4500 for rear brakes, $2000 for a single 1/2 inch hydraulic hose. Glad I got out of that business.
All u had to do was raise the grapple up all the way
The probably took the other tractor backup to it used the 3pt hitch lifted up and been done
Oh hooked the chain kinda short
$25 for a fitting doesn't surprise me, I broke a fitting on my 54 blade 2 years ago and it cost $17 at that time, surely more now.
May be the same fitting!!
🇨🇦
Bring the 5 series.
It was there.
I’d comment that if you broke several steering hoses, you might want to do an episode where you brainstorm a better idea of how to protect that hose from damage. If you’ve had that problem, I’m sure others have too.
Tim, have you thought about asking Ken to design and make one. I did a search for skid plates and didn’t find anything except who made one for his 4044. That looks like an opportunity for a new parts line for Ken.
Tree work is just plain hard on equipment. Limbs and branches easily break flimsy unprotected hoses and fittings. Like you said, a skid steer has the vulnerable bits way more shielded and protected than a small tractor. But I think your making good progress with what machinery you have.
What is that ATV looking machine Tim was leaning on at the end of the video?
I want to know also - looks like a piece of innovative farm machinery 😂
We’ll review it at some point.
When you were getting towed out after the broken hose was the tractor still in 4x4? If so maybe putting it in 2x4 would allow the front tires more freedom? Just a thought?
Have you done a video using a flail mower on a 1 series tractor? I actually have a 2210 but I think it is just the older version of your 1 series. Looking to buy a flail mower to mow and chop the cane in my small vineyard. Great videos!!!
Many. Here is the first one:
61" Fixed Flail Mower! WILL IT WORK on Subcompact Tractor?
ruclips.net/video/dMiEj6UN1HQ/видео.html
A good example of the need to inspect and protect all hydraulic lines on any tractor. Those pesky sticks and branches have a way of finding openings and causing problems!
Looked like a fun day otherwise!
Man that mulcher is just throwing branches up underneath your tractor. Im sure its getting damaged
I use my tractor in my forestry services business. I had skid plates fabricated for the bottom of the tractor. It really protects the undercarriage well. I’m not sure if you can rent a compact track loader with a forestry mulcher.
Can you buy the skid plates, or did you have to make your own?
@@TractorTimewithTim- i could not find any to purchase. I had a local metal fabricator make them up. The skid plates protect the entire underside and the left and right sides where the fuel tank is and the two hydraulic filters are located. The plates cost me $3000, but I still feel they are well worth the cost when working in the forest. The skid plates and grill guard have prevented damage to the tractor on many occasions.
@@richardbrowne1679thanks! What make/model tractor?
Tim, when are you going to show off your Wood Maxx chipper?
Shouldn’t be too long. Too wet to get out now.
What kind of electric buggy is that, I think a skid steer with a forest mulch head would be better, at least cut down the trips to JD , just my thoughts.
What are the plans with all the stumps sticking up promoting re-growth after the logger is done? Are you allowed to grind them slightly below surface under the law?
Intend to grind them to ground level.
What is the name of your scooter,Thats cool??Thanks
Did you make multiple trips to get all the machines over to Illinois
Tom/randall made a trip with their big truck.
I know these tractors aren’t really meant for this, but I’d wager more than not do this type of stuff with theirs. You’d think you’d see more skid plates made and sold for them. I’d think that’d be a pretty big market.
And take care of Ole Salty… I love that tractor!
Ole Salty has about finished 'rehab'. Got a couple parts yet to put on. We've got a lot of it on video...and will show over the next couple o weeks. Hate to admit it, but Ole Salty has become MY favorite too!
@@TractorTimewithTim After you did your cab rehab video on Ole Salty it gave me the confidence to pop the top on my tractor to do some upgrades that I'd been wanting to do. I made a video, if you'd like to see it. It's not TTWT quality, which is a lot harder than we all realize, but you're sort of the inspiration for the work I did on it,
ruclips.net/video/8Fzm1aMRkiM/видео.htmlsi=FgxEdOWr8DXOVdvR
If your going to keep playing in the woods, maybe its time for a forestry or orchard protection kit, its not just the sweeps and overhead protection, its all the skid plating that protects all the gribbly bits under the tractor from damage
Where could I buy?
Did I miss the introduction to that ATV Scooter looking thing at the end?
We’ve briefly shown it. We need to do a full review.
Is that an electric scooter and who makes it?
What's their rationale for not removing stumps in wetlands? And what does it take for an area to qualify as a wetland? I would have imagined it would have to be something like having standing water for some number of days out of the year.
You are asking logical questions of the government.
Be careful!!! You should fix it before you can't fix it, where is the 4075R? 🙏🙏✌️👍🤔🍔🍔🍔
Went back to Deere many months ago
@@TractorTimewithTim it would come in handy about now!!!! The area is looking a lot better now!!! 😊
What & where does one buy that cart type vehicle?

Tell em ttwt sent you!
That Baumalight hasn't given you any trouble with the teeth loosening off? I had the mini-version and was less than impressed.
No issues.
I understand a farmer's need to remove brushy areas in a field and take out stream bottoms and hedgerows to accommodate the larger equipment needed these days. I suspect in the long run, the only ones who really benefit are the equipment dealers. But it also pains me because I know that small game hunting isn't what it was back in the days prior to the 1970s. The heydays may have been the days of the Soil Bank when marginal fields were left fallow. Wildlife habitat is already scarce in farm country. I remember brushy stream bottoms as a place to scare up pheasants, grouse, squirrels, rabbits and a place for foxes and furbearer as well as songbirds. The wild apple trees were an added benefit. Those days are gone forever, I'm afraid in the name of progress. Field size back then were based upon what a team of horses could handle in a day. I witnessed the transition from horsepower to tractors and you can't turn back time, or can we? We may be forced to if fossil fuels are phased out.
You are welcome to buy farmland and allow it to grow up.
Monoculture deserts
@@erik_dk842again, you are welcome to buy property and do whatever you want with it.
My dad saw the transition. He also drove huge teams of horses that were in that short period where equipment got big before engines. I remember all of the tricycle Tractors.
I did. I've been a farmer all my life and I still grow hay on 25 acres. I also hunt and plant trees for habitat.@@TractorTimewithTim
Is a part of a river, that dried out because a canal was dug to streighten it out?
No. Over the years, the river cut its own new channel, and left this one. Over time the old one fills in, silt, erosion, etc.
rivers often cut new channels, abandoning the older one..or sometimes using both channels.
Water is amazingly powerful.
I'd love an excavator, but can't justify getting one for the expense.
Do you Old salty had more problems than a newer 3R series?
I like to see how you push equipment.
Well, sometimes due to the salt damage, but other than that, no, not more issues. I like ole salty a LOT!
Must be related to the Hutturite’s, they also can’t stand the idea of a tree being left alive.
You are welcome to purchase your own land, and do whatever you want with it.
@@TractorTimewithTim thanks, Lord willing, that’s exactly what I plan to do.
@@RiceDriedger excellent! Land ownership is wonderful. It changes one’s perspective in many ways!
…and it can bring a lot of joy and interesting activities to your life.
I have a Kubota with a center PTO. Would it be possible to mount the mulcher on the front of the tractor rather than twisting my neck all day, I'm 73 and it's beyond my ability.
This is something I have put a LOT of passion into. Unfortunately, none of the small tractor manufacturers seem to be interested in this. The mid PTO doesn't spin at the same speed as the rear. ...in some cases, it spins in reverse direction.
There are very few front 3 point hitches on small tractors either.
So far, my efforts to get this going have failed.
There is a company that makes front 3 point and PTO for small Deere tractors, but they flat out refuse to work with me.
Thanks for the reply Tim. @@TractorTimewithTim
It’s very discouraging when these big companies price gouge the heck out of there customers. And all the major brands do it
Find alternative parts sources for all the common items.
@@erik_dk842 Check McMaster Carr..
I don't understand how you sustained that much damage to your hoses. On my Massey Ferguson everything on the bottom is steel. I can't imagine that JD is running rubber hoses exposed under the tractor???
The steering hoses are not protected.
The third function hoses are aftermarket…the Deere lines are hard-lines.
YOU NEED TO TALK TO MIKE MORGAN ABOUT THE TRUCK HE WANTS TO BUY .. IT GONNA HAVE THE 7.3 GODZILLA THAT YOU BOUGHT AND ARE NOT HAPPY WITH ... HE IS GONNA BE TOWING AND HAULING AND I THINK HE WILL, REGRET IT .. MAYBE YOU CAN GIVE HIM SOME INPUT I'M NBOT GETTING THRU TO HIM.
Not related to this video but what ever happened to the electric tractor? Haven’t seen a hide nor hair of it in months..
I’m in a difficult spot with that.
Not sure if I can legally say anything.
@@TractorTimewithTim understood. I’m sure when the time is right you’ll let us know. Thanks!
I have watched your videos for a long time, but I have a 127 acer farm in Oregon, and not a tree hugger but I don't understand why you have chosen money over wildlife 😢
I addressed this in the previous episode.
Those little John Deeres are crap.
You wreck more equipment than anyone I know! You better learn how to operate the equipment within its limits! You a serious accident waiting to happen!
Ah yes. Of course we intentionally push the equipment harder given our business. …and many folks won’t click on a video unless something gets broken.
So, it is all part of the business.
