tommy is an incredible host and canadian rural music is every bit as valid as what came out of the nashville music machine. use your brains folks , we have a shared history.
Got'ta luv the Tommy! He literally landed in my back yard when I was a kid! A helicopter landed the next lot over with him aboard! K.O.C. in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Well, the show went off amazingly well and without a hitch!! My ma-inlaw and I had a most wonderful time and if there was only one request, it would be to see him again!! next april he finishes his farewell tour back east (ottawa or in the maritimes, i can't remember) and on that date he'll be celebrating his 75th birthday!! he's still every bit a showman too!! after he played the fiddle behind his back, he played it under one leg as if he were riding it like a bicycle!! AMAZING SHOW!!
@Constructionbear41 I share the same memories from when I was a boy and we gathered around Memere & Pepere's TV to watch the Tommy Hunter Show. Then my uncles would grab their own guitars and mom would go on the piano, and pepere would grab his fiddle, if his health allowed him to play, and we'd play some music ourselves for a short time.
I am going to see Tommy at the Havelock Jamboree in August. I am hoping to ask him to join the Canadian Country Music Museum, that I am going to establish in the next 2 years. It is a non-profit organization that I hope to set up in Peterborough, Ont.
Parts of this show would fit in with Hee Haw. A lot of action. Tommy's show was very good. But all good things come to an end. I heard the CBC couldn't handle the soaring costs. Well, if we see some of the crap CBC is currently showing make us wonder. Tommy was well watched across Canada not only Toronto.
Um. Did I say that it did? Anyway, Rock is much more a part of our culture. Country music is for Albertans and people from the American Southwest. Think Neil Young (Godfather of Grunge), Rush (Power Trio), even Leonard Cohen who has inspired many major artists around the world. Then there's Skinny Puppy. Would NIN even exist if there was no Skinny Puppy? Grow up. Move to Alberta if you want to listen to Country. The land of the uneducated, yet wealthy. You'll like it.
BayviewFinch Obviously this is a parody comment...although it isn’t very funny. If you’re serious...then you’re an idjit. Yes an absolute idjit. Who wrote this comment for you? And don’t tell us that you wrote it...anyway get the same person who wrote it to read this comment to you.

I loved this show. TNN was WONDERFUl to watch durin the early days. CMT is just MTV country style, no true country. I miss these days.
actually, i have the pleasure of seeing him in person this weekend as Tommy's doing his final farewell tour across Canada!
Little Jimmy Dickens and "May The Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose". YEEEEEHHAAAWWWW, what a toe-tappin' memory that one is!
I rember watching this on TNN, back in the day, what memories.

Nobody's wearing a mike and no lip-sync. Just one mike! Now that's live!
