  • Here at Eden Green Technology, our Head of Horticulture, Aaron Fields, leads our team of vertical farmers to grow and harvest the freshest, safest and healthiest produce for our local community. In this episode of Spill The Greens, Aaron explains the difference between organic farming and vertical farming. While vertical farming may not be always be considered textbook "organic," there's evidence that proves why hydroponic vertical farming is just as beneficial, and sometimes even safer, for our planet and the people we feed.

This method is 100% dependent on Chemical Fertiliser and energy-intensive for temperature regulation.
Then you put a few leaves of them in a clear plastic box that is not even recyclable.
Then you claim its chemical-free, clean, and environmentally friendly.

So if I understood this right , it's not organic by definition. I'm a proponent of all types of farming as you described "organic is what it means to you". I'm not knocking the video our the content.

While I feel there's a space in the market for hydroponics, the benefits of traditional organic farming offers a fundamental symbiosis in nature that hydroponics can not. Commercial farming is a corrupt and regulated industry which doesn't serve the longevity of our delicate ecosystem or man.

My trouble with these growing methods is that I don't only eat lettuce or leafy greens I need other items to my diet.

Fantastic video, great ideas and concepts. I absolutely love it. I would like to ask a question if that’s ok. I noticed you packed these fresh organic greens into a plastic container. Is there anyway of not using a plastic container or is this the best way currently to keep the produce fresher for longer? I’m just wondering if you have looked into an alternative (if there is one). Great work 👍

Hi Scott, in the next five years they will be making lots of plastic products out of fungi, mycelium...I really dislike these one-off plastic products too and don't buy them often because of this issue

We can grow peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, snap peas, and flowers along with the standard lettuces, superfoods like kale, and herbs.
