Rammstein Ich Will // Old Composer Reaction // The Decomposer Lounge
Rammstein REACTIONS
Sonne is a good representation of their catalogue. It's a combination of their heaviness and their ability to create beautiful music. If there can only be one song to define Rammstein, that's a good choice.
Mein Hertz Brent would be another good example of this as well
@@nathanthomson1931 Mein Hertz Brennt is my favorite song of theirs, but Sonne is a good choice too. :)
@@nathanthomson1931 best in the Piano-Version.
Sonne is actually not a Rammstein song but a commissioned work. Vitali Klitschko's management wanted a new song for the march to the ring.
However, "Sonne" was too hard for them, so they decided on Highway to Hell.
The lyrics of Sonne only really make sense when you know that "Sonne" means Klitschko.
@@user-fu3hi3lj3w Still, Lindemann penned lyrics, Rammstein written music. It's still a Rammstein song in my book.
Sonne and Deutschland are a huge jump in the sound and production. They are an incredible audible force.
Also, the outro of Deutschland in the video cut is Sonne played in a beautiful piano bit
@@alejandramedrano9745 but really, that end part should really be heard after having already listened to sonne....
Honestly, Rammstein is one of those bands that just keeps getting better and more refined with age. Deutschland is an incredible song and the video (which I know isn't what we discuss here) rivals any great movie.
Ich Tu Dir Weh is still my favorite, but Sonne and Deutschland are very close behind.
Deutschland, and its controversy, is easily Rammsteins greatest work to date. The lyrics, the history... From my family history, I appreciate the acceptance and the demonstration of what the German people endured.
I dont know how you guys have favorite Rammstein songs lol. I have a few that I'm not crazy about but I dont think I could pick favorites.
I have never heard Till give anything less than 100% on vocals. Dudes voice is simultaneously beautiful and terrifying.
Well, he definetely lacks stamina during live concerts. The recordings are great though
@@TheErazar live work at their level of overall performance is absolutely exhausting, Alice Coopers once said “look, you either sing or you perform if you’re smart. It takes a special breed of idiot like me to try and do both to any degree of sanity and it more than doubles the work on your body, appreciate that and look after yourself always.” (He was commenting on the use of drugs and alcohol and how although he has done those things he would never recommend it but he also wanted to clarify that you will always get a better vocal performance from someone that is just standing there singing, not doing a whole performance at the same time)
Can you hear me? - We can hear you!
Can you see me? - We can see you!
Can you feel me? - We can feel you!
I can't understand you!
it is so nice if he sings: könnt ihr mich hören? the audience sings: "WIR HÖREN DICH" we can hear you
I always suspected he could also be saying "I don't understand you!", which is the same sentence in German, but has the different meaning that he criticises the audience, because he sings it with contempt (idk though)
@@heartorias5105 That’s an interesting perspective. I always thought, the audience wasn’t loud enough - hence he can‘t understand them.
On a sidenote, I‘m Rammstein fan for maybe 20 years, and just now got the tickets to see them live for the first time. :)
Just needed to tell somebody! :D
@@tohuwabohu5968 He could be saying both at the same time, be a double meaning :D Wow that's gotta be nice after all these years, finally! :D
@@tohuwabohu5968 enjoy the show mate 🤘🤘
The bass player is very underrated. He holds all the components together superbly. Yet never gets a mention.
Agree. I first noted how powerful his role was in a live concert, it blew me away. Literally.
Ollie + Schneider together are epic. Both easily at the top of rock bassists & drummers. Those 2 slay the recent concert intro track Was Ich Leibe.
Rumor that Till is shy doesn't fit with his off-stage persona but Ollie keeps himself to himself.
Please, PLEASE do "Mein Herz Brennt" next, one of their absolute best songs to date
Yes!
YES!
YES!
YES! But mate pls drop a live concert link there better then studio versions
Original or quiet? ...because the performance of the quiet piano version is it's own thing.
I know since you're a "decomposer", you're generally gunna focus on studio versions of songs. But def check out these guys live shows. Not saying make a reaction (even thought thatd be cool too), but these guys are arguably the best live performers on the planet. And that's not an exaggeration.
agreed!
They are animals live!
BEST show live! Seen a ton of live shows, none come even close to Rammstein! (Although NIN come closest, also slipknot’s energy..)
For sure!
I got to see them live and you are absolutely correct. Absolutely mind-boggling show in the best ways possible.
So glad to see Rammstein here. Rammstein is a great band, and their lyrics are like dark 19th century poems about 21th century people. The Ohne Dich piano cover was played on my wedding when we put the ring on, not many guests realized it was an industrial metal song. :D
I was actually thinking it would be great if he did a listen to Ohne dich, then I saw your comment :) Good choice of song at a wedding :D
I wish I was at your wedding :)
This is definitely industrial metal, yes. Born of the underground techno scene in pre liberation era Germany. Rammstein is INCREDIBLE
I assume you mean pre-unification (1990). Liberation was 1945 :).
@@germansnowman yeahhhh I got the terms confused 😬 but yes. Preunification
For those in east Germany, it was a sort of liberation
@@gunderd2 Absolutely. I am from East Germany myself. I was just trying to be technically correct, as there is a bank holiday called “Day of Liberation” (8 May).
@@germansnowmanI lived in Goettingen for a half a year and visited the border museum. So crazy the stuff you guys survived through.
They are absolutely insane live - unbelievable theatrics
Hands down the most entertaining concert I’ve ever been to. They only came to like 8 cities in North America, and mine was one!!
Yup.
They are an absolutely AMAZING show, like insane. best if you can see them outdoors though... big fiery goodness
Best live band ever. I’ve drove to Canada to see them.
gonna see them this september, after the show was delayed for a year! gonna be my first post covid show i am pretty sure. itll be my first rammstein show too. so excited
Seeing this band live is a spiritual experience
When they play this live, the big "BOOM! BOOM!" start/stop notes are played by literal explosions. It's incredible.
Flakes synth sounds are what make a lot of Rammsteins songs so special. Great band, happy to see you react to them!
God I adore Flake so much... And the situations he finds himself in.
His shining presence was in the Mutter album for sure
"Deutschland" it' s a MUST. They took their sound to.another level. And i recomend taking a look at the lyrics and video as well, it's an absolute trip
Absolutely. Especially the video version with the intro of Jóhann Jóhannsson. But the rest of the record was quite disappointing. Sorry to say that, especially for myself.
VIDEO DEFINITELY YES!
Hell yes! a masterpiece!
This song is, content wise, absolutly a live number: it literally says "can you hear me" to the audience, and they respond.
But still, there is a possible deeper meaning, in that "I want you to understand me" and "I don't understand you" can be interpreted more than simply sonically, especially as the band was really divisive in the public eye for a long time...
They always work with complicated meanings and wordplay a lot.
Afair they made the Links 2-3-4 song, which is also increadible during live shows, just to indicate that they do not share the far-right ideology
I assume the song is about politicians or people in power. Basically when they sing: versteht ihr mich? (do you (plural) understand me?) and then: ich verstehe Euch nicht (I dont understand you) is a representation of the level of caring for others from those in power. The song is also about the things people in power want others to believe (insinuations), their cynical aspirations. They people in the background say in the end of the song: auf jeden Fall, which means "by all means"
I think Till said this song was about him trying to come to terms with fame, the idea that thousands of people are showing up to see your silly little show, people singing the lyrics but do they really understand what you are trying to say.
@@WeTheJourney "We want you to trust us, we want you to believe everything from us, we want to see your hands, we want to go down in applause....yeah" You're correct, politicians, media, those with power etc. After the crowd responds with "We understand you" his response from the perspective of those in power is "We don't understand you."
I love how you have paint on your shirt and don’t care what people think. Keeping it real 100%!
Welcome to another army my friend. Where to start?
- spiel mit mir
- du riechst so gut
- der meister
- Engel
- eifersucht
- mein herz brennt
- sonne
All from the first 3 albums (1995, 1997, 2001). To me the best Era.
And yeah you can call this industrial metal. This lyrics live form a conversation between Till Lindeman and the audience, answering and repeating each other.
☝ That.
Also Bück dich and Feuer frei are sick tunes.
Spiel Mit Mir is waaaaayyyy too creepy. lol
I'm a big fan of Nebel, never really see it recommended by others.
Good choices ^^
My favorite Song of that era is Klavier and Sehnsucht my favorite album.
Their newer stuff is good too though.
How anyone can listen to this song (and Rammstein in general) without at least nodding in time is beyond me :)
Haha!! Was thinking the same thing!
That's the first thing that popped into my head 😅
next: "Sonne" please!
10/10 for teaching everybody how to count in German.
It’s awesome you’re listening to rammstien! They have great composition and Till’s vocals are iconic. And yes they are industrial metal.
He said he never rly listened to their music xD
Meliodas well it’s nice he’s listening to them with us haha
What I like about Rammstein is that they never had the idea of doing lyrics in English - to possibly make the big international success even bigger. That's pretty genuine.
“Keine Lust” and “Mein Teil” are two of their best songs imo. Great atmosphere and songwriting! Thanks for your awesome reactions! 🙂
Rammstein's song "Frühling in Paris" is a good one to check out for a bit of a 180 and for some haunting beauty.
Some "Type O Negative" Looooooveee!!! by the way great video!!
The most visually stunning rock band live on this planet. The end. Add the music and ambience, and it's a sensory overload. Their videos are amazing as well. Kind of in their own category. And amazing...
+1 to the comments saying look up lyrics and translations. There's some very good German youtubers who do videos that are Rammstein song translations aimed at English speaking audiences going over the subtle contexts and cultural connotations they sit in. Know you're typically not a lyric guy but it's worth it. Part of what makes this band so special is their storytelling ability lyrically, in their music videos, and live in concert. They sit right on the border of music group and performance art troupe and it's amazing. Fair warning, the content can be fairly macabre, but it's done so in a fascinatingly alluring way. Highly highly recommend you pick a song and dive into its translation, music video, and concert performances to really get a sense of the full scope of the "vision" of Rammstein.
very, very true + the live concerts are just AMAZIIING!!
To be honest, this band is one of the rare exceptions that you want to find live versions. Not only is it musically/instrumentally superior, but the "show" is unbeatable in terms of presence and pyro/lighting/fx
Can't wait for more of this band. I grew up with it because my dad listened to it, and I haven't stopped listening to them ever since. It kinda can always fall back on them without getting bored.
My favorite Rammstein song is "Ohne Dich." Beautiful ballad-like qualities mixed with heavy metal. Even if you don't understand German, the chorus is quite beautiful vocally, as well. Their music videos are also massive undertakings and always fun, though I know that is not a part of your channel, still worth checking out.
That one is good, though one of my most favourite is Mein Herz Brennt piano version. But yeah, absolutely all they create is amazing, love it all.
The singer's speaking voice is actually very soft and gentle
I love how this song makes the audience part of the band, because during live events the audience has their own part in the song.
“Deutschland” is like their Anthem and return to glory after some years off.
Auslander
Sonne
Seeman
Would be cool to hear analyzed also.
This and Ich Tu Dir Weh. Til's vocals in that song give me chicken skin everytime I hear it!
why not Du hast ?
@@chrismiller2517 Ich Tu Dir Weh is absolute gold. Probably one of my most-played tracks. I thought they'd never beat it, but that video for Deutschland is a masterpiece
@@willsparks5738 They have always had amazing videos. Til's tongue in cheek style of writing and the band's collective styles of art make them one of the best bands ever.
Alter Mann by Rammstein will take you to a completely different world of metal. Its so heavy and beautiful at the same time.
Beautiful?
@@jager9022 yeah, by the end of the song when the keyboards kick in, just close your eyes and take it in. It's sublime
You should watch one of their live performances. True artists.
I was looking for someone that said it before I would. Till (the lead singer) is a professional Pyrotechnician. Plus it's incredible what this guys can do while playing their instruments and singing. I'm pretty sure it was this song that the keyboardist runs on a treadmill the whole time.
@@zachgoff1657 yup, when I saw them he came out on fire.
Du Hast live in Paris from the 2012 tour. Holy hell, it's something else.
Kapiolani is an amazing hospital, they took such good care of us when my wife gave birth during the Covid surge last summer. Thank you for supporting them!
Everyone gets hooked on the driving beat and the massive guitars and Lindemann's haunting vocals, but the Rammstein differential is the work of Flake on the synths.
I would love to see you react to the piano version of "Mein Herz brennt"!
Yeah, more Rammstein please! Their new album, "Zeit", is great. Any track would do. Angst ("Fear") is especially interesting for Till's singing.
Engle, Sonne, Mein Herz Brennt, and Amerika are some of my favorites, if you're looking for more Rammstein.
Geebz doing Rammstein. NICE. Anything from Mutter is a sick choice.
Sonne and Mein Herz Brennt are two of my favorite songs by them
They have been a favourite, and were my first favourite group. Can’t wait to see what’s next for them let alone anyone else. Keep it up! 👍
Love that you're doing Rammstein!! Links 2 3 4 is also a really awesome one. Keep it up man!
Ich Will is my all time favorite song by Rammstein! ❤❤❤
I'm glad this showed up in my recommendations! It's the first time I've watched your content and I chalk the recommendation up to being a big Rammstein fan and watching lots of other music reaction videos! Some of my favorite Rammstein songs that I would like to see you decompose are Sonne, Mein Herz Brennt and Reise, Reise.
These guys are amazing live. Saw them at the Spectrum in Philly in the late 90s. Phenomenal
OH boy. Nice that you've discovered Rammstein. Other great songs are: Du hast , Sonne, Mann gegen Mann, buchstabieren (really heavy song) .... And so much more. I love them. Always straight forward industrial metal. Please do more reaction in them. The singer is actually a poet.
Mein hertz brennt is one of their absolute best!
LOVE their sound. Till sings in baritone and rolls his r's as well.
Amazing, literally had this in my head this morning thinking it would be a good one! Get outta my head Geebz.
Best live concert I’ve ever been to was Rammstein ❤️ They have so many great songs!
Glad to see these guys on the channel! Do yourself a favor and watch their videos after your reaction. They're a real treat. Fantastic little short films most of the time and fun goofing the rest.
Man, I love your breakdowns, and this band. This song is about stage fright, something the singer, Till Lindemann, struggles with. In the call and response part he asks the audience "can you hear me" "can you see me" "can you feel me" and they answer "we hear/see/feel you", but the last line is "I don't understand you". Great song.
When I watched your Marilyn Manson video, I knew Rammstein was around the corner. Very happy to see your take on the band that defined my teenage years.
I've been watching so many different "Reaction" channels for music and they all have some gimmicky stunts they pull during the reaction, but This guy is legit the only one I can stand. Great Job Sir!
Love this channel. Keep it up!
YES! This has been a favorite of mine forever and the annunciation makes this song so powerful. It's the syrup on the pancakes!
Glad to see you listening to Rammstein. Also can't wait for another Gojira reaction!
Would love to see more of Rammstein - keep it up!
Fantastic to hear and see Rammstein on your channel. Their live performances are among the best out there. Seen them 5 times now.
Masters of heavy, powerfull crunchy riffs and live shows!! Definitely decompose more of this amazing band!
YESSSSS... This is my favorite Rammstein track, and it's absolutely fantastic. The music video that goes with it is incredible as well. There are so many great Rammstein tracks that you can listen to from here.
Thanks for this! Listened to them today
Great video as always!!!
Rammstein is definitely worth to listen band. Especially I recommend whole Mutter album in which this song is
the best live band and one of the few bands I would recommend watching the music videos for (although some videos may make some people uncomfortable)
now watch it in a live version. just for the fun of it! Old girl from Germany 🙂
9:51 favourite part the start and stop and start of the drum thing so beautiful
Rammstein - “Engel” (live)
Need the live shows of these guys. This song is pretty epic for that.
Their song Deutschland is a must. Great first choice though with Ich Will.
Also, get yourself a RUclips ad blocker plugin to your web browser, then you wont have to worry about ads coming up, not that it's usually an issue or was here :)
I'd give anything to hear Rammstein for the first time again. I was 11 when I heard it the first time as it started to get popular. Now all I hear is "yep... That's Rammstein. For the 9 000 000th time."
Absolutely! I remember exactly when I watched Sonne's video on TV in the middle of the night and was completely blown away. I bought Mutter as soon as I could and from the first seconds in knew I was into something amazing.
This gave me so much joy to listen to. I remember being 13 years old kid bicycling and listening Ich Will from my walkmans, like what, 20 years ago? It's so refreshing to hear someone with musician skills appreciating the song for the first time.
I love your reactions. And yes please more Rammstein!!!!!!!!
Please do more rammstein videos! Their music is artwork quite literally
I can't imagine what Till's singing must feel like to someone who doesn't understand German. :D
Still amazing! I didn't understand a thing when I started listening to Rammstein, and in fact their music helped me in my journey to (try to) learn German!
It's like this guy says, the voice is another musical instrument. Rammstein songs sound like full instrumental anthems when you don't know the lyrics.
It feels wunderbar 🥰
Powerful and entrancing. I first heard them when I was 15, so 20 years ago. I learned German to have a better understanding and I'm glad I did.
This song influenced my early teenage years a ton
One of my favorite songs!
I've been waiting for this! Loved this reaction, Rammstein is my all time fave band, please react to Radio, Keine Lust, Sonne, Spieluhr, Mutter, literally every song 😂 you're amazing! Keep up the good work opening up our ears :) hope you're doing great.
They have a funny history since two of the members played funpunk from the late 80s to the early 90s in a band named Feeling B ("Ich such die DDR"). In that time there was a really interesting growing underground music-scene in the late GDR (other examples Sandow, Die Art, Die Skeptiker, AG Geige, Freunde der italienischen Oper). Feeling B and the beginnings of Rammstein in the mid-90s are parts of the documentaries "Flüstern & Schreien" (Wispering & Screaming).
Yes, it's industrial! Good instinct there!
Awesome band and an awesome song!
I love the phaser/vocoder on the words 'ich will'
I love the way the marchiness of the song makes you fist hit your palm, which literally mirrors one of the signature stage moves of the vocalist Till Lindemann!
As an open-minded metalhead with some education in classical music and theory (mostly long forgotten nowadays), I absolutely adore your channel. Would be blown away to see reactions/decompositions of some extreme metal favourites of mine, like "Tearing Away" by Sadist (their primary composer and guitarist is also their keyboardist, and plays both instruments live), or "All The Devils Are Here" by Dyscarnate (who are a power trio and basically lack solos in conventional sense but make up with the sheer intensity of riffing and rhythms). Cheers!
cant weait for more Rammstein reactions :D
Love Rammstein, glad to see you checking them out. I'll also suggest Mein Herz Brennt.
What you’re saying around the 8 minute mark is well spotted. Rammstein started with a goal, and that was to bring metal and a heavier message to crowds in an accessible way. Their music largely follows a pop music template, regardless of the genre they fall into.
THANKYOU for noticing our REQUESTS ! :)
Hello i am new on this Chanel, i am from germany and i am a big fan of Rammstein ! I love this song, this band have so many very good songs, i hope you hear more songs from Rammstein ! Greatings from germany ❤
Reise, Reise is another great song by Rammstein!!! So happy when I saw this posted!! :)
Definitely do more Rammstein, and definitely live!
Another one of my favorite bands!! Their best songs imo are Deutschland, Links 2 3 4, Mein Herz Brennt, Rammstein and Du riechst so gut. That said they are full of amazing songs and riffs. Great video.
Rammstein was the best live performance I ever saw. So much fire but my favorite part was when the keyboardist was put on a leash with a ball gag, walked like a dog and put into a bathtub. Till from above shot a bunch of fireworks into the bathtub and then the keyboardist came out of the tub in a full glitter suit. He then proceeded to play the entire rest of the show while walking on a treadmill.
there's a whole dimension in their lyrics ...
"Sehnsucht", "Rein Raus", and the piano version of "Mein Herz Brennt" are absolutely awesome. And "Du Hast" live in Paris !
Got to see their performance to appreciate the music.
I found Rammstein in HS and forever and always they will be one of my core favorite bands. Rammstein = Ear-Candy
Love your content man!! For those who are wondering, most of the higher synth sounds Rammsteins keyboardist uses are from a MicroKorg. Fantastic arpeggio arrangement and a timeless sound. For a keyboard that's like 40 cm long, it packs ALOT of power!
Rammstein calls their style "Tanz Metal"
"Ich Will" translates to "I Want" and the song lyrics, to me, demonstrates the addiction to attention and idolization among many performers and most politicians
dude I wish you were my producer. you clearly know what youre talking about and also clearly have such a strong love and passion for music. You just seem like such a genuinely nice guy and have such rad positive energy. In my dreams id come record an album with you in HI
That track in particular is interesting in a massive concert crowd.
