True. Watch the live version and compare the two. You will see that with Rammstein in 9/10 cases you should stick to the live versions despite the videos being great.
"Fun" fact, this was released September 10th 2001. You can guess how that went. :P
Also, as was stated during Rammlied, "they always have a chant that everyone in the audience knows" (or something similar).. Well, the verse goes:

It was probably done on purpose. Rammstein was always known for capitalizing on public outrage and sending a message with a lot of social commentary in it. I'm not saying that they knew what would happen, but they could have pushed the release back, but they didn't.

You have to understand RAMMSTEIN, almost every song and especially music video they MEAN something, always! Meaning is deep inside.
Till (the singer) also played in a kid movie called ''Amundsen, der Pinguin''. He plays the role of one of the vilain's sbires and he's really funny all along the movie. ;)
Imagine at the live concerts when the whole audience shouts/answer Till when he sings "Can you see/hear/feel etc us"?!!
All of Rammsteins music videos feel like short movies. Really entertaining. Apparently this one was made to illustrate how the media not only feeds on criminal misdeeds but rewards it with publicity and attention, fuelling at least some of the perpetrators (a modern argument for this would be the discussion about keeping acts of terror or the names and manifestos of school shooters out of the news and television so as to not give them the publicity and global impact they seek, I believe).
This might be why they're dressed to the nines during their crime, but it's almost definitely why the last scenes show them receiving a coveted German award (the Golden Camera) while in prison garb in the aftermath.
I would also add the direct relation to reality TV also as the ridiculousness that many of these programs are. I guess that is why they are called programs - of the human mind.

If you didn't notice in the MV storyline:
Basically every member is in some way "defected", one guy has a white eye, one guy has a prostetic hand and so on, to show that they're all outcasts.
And they are only "robbing" the bank for the attention of the people/media and in the end wins and award for it as showed in the beginning.
They may go to prison, but in the end that's a small sacrifice for the recognition they get. And Flake, the guy with the bomb, who seems to be the one to lose the most is in fact benefiting the most. His picture is placed behind the band as they receive the award, and is therefore in some sense immortal.
When they all fall to the ground while being photographed by the media, it's symbolic for how the media manipulates and "kills" them.
Rammstein is known for their controversy and often use media as a means to get recognition, but it's also a way of showing how the media also use and take advantage of them.
The live version is very cool, too. Playing with the crowd. Of course! The official video "Deutschland is very spectacular, too and the piano version of "Mein herz brennt" is very very special!

They filmed this video in the building where the state council of East Germany was located. All of the members of Rammstein were born in East Germany which was communist.
