Anyone notice in the first Boyzone release Love Me For A Reason they use the exact same background and style ? Take That were trailblazers for UK boy bands. Never surpassed however.

It seemed that Gary seemed to have made is way into a boyband by accident as he couldn't really dance back then but more than made up for it by having a good voice. He's a much better dancer as well.
It hasn't changed but it's the part where they place their hands and swivel that has now changed to just a hands behind, twist and spin after the reunion (for appropriate reasons) x

Who are those two saddos giving thumbs down when Take That were the successors of NKTOB and the first ever British boyband (and no, The Beatles were NOT a boyband). They have now lasted well over 30 years (group & solo) and because of them, bands like One Direction, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and more EXISTED!!!

It's funny because as an American, I had heard Back for Good as a kid when it first came out but always assumed it was just some random American singer. I had no idea Take That even existed until last summer when I heard the song at work for the first time in twenty plus years and had to see who sang it.
You're right that these guys were the first. NKOTB were R&B/hip hop because they were a direct copy of New Edition, and the Backstreet Boys were like NKOTB mixed with Boys II men style wise.
This song predates the major pop boy bands of the '90s by a few years. They really were ahead of their time with the style and choreography. I'm still incredibly impressed this is from the same time when boy bands in the US were all about urban culture. They really could have been huge if they came over when this song dropped because there was nothing in the US like them at the time. All pop music was mostly done by adults and had no real innocence like this.
They would not have been able to compete with the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync if they tried to come to the US after Back for Good. Jive was just way too good at putting the absolute right lyrics and vocals to the absolute right music. This is impressive but those two bands put out stuff where you can listen to it and think that those melodies would have been perfect for any number of huge R&B acts at the time. Jive really controlled pop music for almost a solid decade.
