      I dislike the hype surrounding it, the OG Pelagos is more unique as is the FDX. The new Pelagos is too sub looking. If you want a sub get on the list or keep and eye on the secondary market (as the world economy collapses). I could actually find that I love it in real life, but if sacrifices it uniqueness and tool vibes to appease the small wrist girly-men influencers. Personally I have no desire to make a donation to the Hans Wilsdorf foundation. But, do kind of regret not buying a North Flag when they were considered toxic sludge.

    I suspect it will be like the Black Bay 58 Blue and readily available in the case within a a year. Tudor has not been playing Rolex games, this is just a brand new model and there is a frenzy. I tried it on two days ago and the dealer said when can I call you if you want one. Yes, there is a wait, but that is just because it is a new model.
    I couldn’t see the starburst dial inside either. I can’t see that being a negative as you can’t even see it in most lighting conditions.

    I think this watch is pure beauty. It smashes design and style out of the park and is perfectly balanced and sized. You can tell by now I like it and am a Tudor fan anyway. I write this while sporting a BB58 925 which I have had from launch last year and love. However I would not buy this black version of the Pelagos 39. What I hope from Tudor is that they release a Starbucks type variant in either green or blue bezel but with the black dial. Then I'll probably consider getting one.

    Great review Alex, This watch is a great release for Tudor. I like how they add the 39mm along with this new size. Consequently there are more choices for everyone regardless of wrist size . Love the minor Sunday dial and specs of the 39 I will definitely be purchasing this model

  • @adamwest5625
    @adamwest5625 Год назад +4

    Been wearing my Pelagos 39 non stop since my AD gave me the call to pick up 1 month ago - I’ve been waiting for a Pelagos in the same dimensions as the BB58 and this new release ticks all my boxes. The sunray dial adds a different look from the matte bezel of my old Pelagos LHD and l actually like the ghost bezel effect in different light.
    I’m also quite careful with my watch so haven’t put a scratch on the bracelet or clasp. I had to get used to the extreme lightness but l’ve gotten used to it as it’s so comfortable for daily wear. The T-Fit clasp works great.
    Overall it’s a great new releases from Tudor. Oh, l also have a Submariner 124060 and Pelagos FXD, l think the P39 compliments both Sub and FXD perfectly.
    My Omega Boutique just called me to offer the Seamaster 300M in green - l declined the offer after buying the P39 because it’s so comfortable to wear due to the 39mm dial and 12mm thickness.

    That’s pretty much how every clasp I own looks after 1 week. Or after 1 hour of typing on a Macbook. That’s life. It is a shame that it cannot be bought so easily in some places. Luckily on the forums it seems these are already for sale for list + sales tax. So I’ll probably pick one up that way and avoid the hassle of a fruitless trip to the AD

    Great review! Try to find a NTH Näcken Modern Black No Date. 40mm 11,5 mm thick 48mm lug to lug. That's everything the smaller Pelagos should have looked like. It's steel though.

    With all Tudor models recently. Wait a year and they are easy to get. Now around a year later the second hand market is overflowing with the Pelagos 39 to as low as 37000 NOK :)

    Very nice review! My hope is that this will be like other Tudor releases. Unlike Rolex, for example, if you are a little patient models become available at ADs. I expect you are right though, this will be very popular and so delays may be longer than typical.

    • @AleksWatches
      @AleksWatches  Год назад

      Thanks Scott! Hopefully. In Sweden the BB Pro is still quite the ”waiting list” for it and allocation to AD seems so-so… but sooner or later you’ll be able to pick them up on the secondary market as well, and that mig happen..

    I have 6.25” wrist and had this watch for few weeks now. Yes you are right, the clasp is to long and takes almost the entire wrist under. The 39 size for me is a bit ok but not perfect. Scratched easily too but managed to remove the scratches, however, the clasp is a bit glossy now. 😢
    I might be getting the Jubilee strap for it. But also I am eyeing on the Black Bay 54 with the clasp that is shorter than the Pelagos Clasp. Which is more suitable for my small wrist. So next goal is the Black Bay 54❤

    Great review, but your cons seem to be personal preferences as opposed to reasons why “Tudor hasn’t hit a complete home run”. Many people like the clasp and dial…and supply not yet meeting demand is sort of covered in your title, and expected with this being a new launch. The ADs will tell you that they don’t expect this to be a problem long term

  • @steve-vc3wl

    Your not sure because of a sun ray dial,, which is hardly noticeable,,, its not limited production, its because of flippers the same as Rolex, that is the issue is sadly not going away. I have a non ceramic sub, ceramic sub 114060 and now this watch, I can say in all honesty its a belter, it really is, for the £3,500 price point very hard to beat.....

Still, I didn't bother to check availability here (LHD was recently in stock but now gone, dunno about 39), but I can wait.
