Kudos to Tasha for being such an awesome friend to this wonderful family! Your approach to setting the posts was spot on brother, i can't wait to see where it goes from here...and finally, it is a father's dream to have their children desire to live close to them. You are truly blessed brother
Hard day's work digging those post holes. Totally worth it, as they look great. Can't wait to catch up on the content and see how this comes about. Super exciting!
good video and job glad you had good help and Tasha for every thing she did. Jennifer you will have to start sawing lumber now to start on time. all of you take care, be safe and well.
Looks like u have that saw dialed in quite nicely.😊 I remember when u planted the berries. Yum! Jennifer looks like you've lost some weight. You are a beautiful woman, and just know the good Lord knows what he's doing. God bless u guys.
Jennifer, What wonderful news! You got me emotional because I know how thrilled your Dad must be to have you guys moving close. How much better it will be to help build, garden, cook and just be around. I'm sure Dad wishes the same thing could happen with your brother as well. God Bless.
Congrats on deciding to build your off grid home Jennifer; now give us some specifics on your future home. The saw mill is producing some beautiful lumber!
I can't believe how fast that mill cuts! Looks like you really have it dialed in now. Must be great having your daughter coming to build there. I'm looking forward to see that project get under way. It's alway nice to have extra hands around as specially someone who can help with the equipment. Take care in that heat! it's blasting hot here as well. I felt like an overdone turkey at the end of the day today 😅
Looking good up there. Very nice to have friends like that to help out what a blessing. One question have y’all stopped the monthly giveaways just wondering. Hope y’all have a blessed day. As always enjoyed watching.
The new sawmill is producing some nice lumber. Just a friendly suggestion, don’t waste your time or $$ making a tilting array. You will not see any gain from tilting it in the winter in your latitude. You will be fine with an incline of 30 to 40 degrees. I’m not claiming to be an expert but I’ve installed several hundred KW’s of solar. I’m currently doing the same thing you are, I’m milling my 6x6’s out of oak. I’m glad Jennifer is moving back to the property. Keep up the good work, you inspire me to do more. Just my 2 cents
Good deal. I will have it built to tilt. It’s not going to be anything other than 1in bolts to swing on. With this mountain beside me I get 1 1/2 - 2 hours less sun per day than others in winter. Being able to direct it for optimal conditions is the best I can do in a short period of time. I do understand your thoughts though. That was my original plan. But my situation is different than most
Happy to see u in the garden and eating blackberries...I know you are extremely busy with the new build...but I miss you in the garden, planting and harvesting ❤... keep up the good work 👍👍
Makes me so happy that Jennifer and her family are building up there!! Everything is coming together nicely. The posts for the solar panels look great. Looking forward to seeing the final results. Thanks Richard for another great video!!
Aww, you had me all choked up Jennifer. I am so happy that you have your Dad to lean on. Blessings to you and your Dad. The sawmill is looking awesome and the saw looks like it’s working out great! Yet another great video.
Nice job Tasha on the mower, it looks great. They are lucky to have a good person like you as their friend. I am sure the road of friendship will go both ways.
Great job everyone, glad that you were able to share time with Tasha and give her thanks for all she has done for you folks, We appreciate her too. Glad also that you had some time and help to get those posts set. The sawmill is working great and turning out some fine lumber. It's good to see Jennifer getting ready to start work on her house near you. Continue to have the great times together and getting so much work done around there. Fred.
Richard, I was a cabinet maker in my days of working. I would think that having that bucket on the end of your saw is going eventually take your blade out of plumb with the bed. Which will be an item to affect the squareness of the cut. I would think you need a dust collection set up. Just thinkin.
I am going to get a small hose made for it to blow on the ground. Cheapest and quickest way to dispose. I don’t really want hoses hanging. The bucket isn’t really a good idea.
Building your solar array from scratch is such an impressive achievement! Your commitment to sustainable living and the effort you’ve put into this project is truly inspiring. Watching you piece it together with care and knowledge makes the journey even more meaningful. And I am Floating Village Life, Hit follow and let's explore together!
Jennifer, I am so pleased to hear that your family will be building your home near(but not close) to your dad. Close is nice but you need your own space. Now we need Patrick to move back from Austin! Hail, hail the gangs all here!
Cool video as always. I missed a part when y’all were setting up the new mill and I’m curious what that piece of rope is for. Down near the bottom on the operator side. Thanks for adding the great content!
Good question! The video is the Sawmill Set up either a week or two back. Check it out. It was a good video. It explains what and how it works. Drive rope
Hello, you hard workers. What you're doing looks really good. Could Jennifer fry a few hamburgers for us? 😅. God bless you and keep up the good work. Greetings from Germany. Andi
Richard I'm sure glad Jennifer is building a house there we aren't getting any young . I hope you have plenty of healthy years ahead but, With age sometimes bring health issues. Tell Jennifer to get a zip line and you'll put a motor on it to zip up hill. Enjoy you keep up the good work. 😊
That’s why I’m still going everyday. Keeping myself tuned as long as possible. If I had of slowed down after retiring in 2009 from telecoms I would probably be in worst health than now. No pills, no diet, no issues and still going at 66 which is not old but getting there, lol
I know I will lose anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 in on both sides. The way I build accommodates that. Certain build types may not work. Board/baton, Timber frame (mortise/tenon) will work with green material. Loss is in diameter and not length.
You know, all that piece that you just cut with all the knots sticking out of the top of it, that would look good as a borden, batten only outside of a something

Hey Andi, she didn’t bring any this time, she ordered pizza, lol.
ask for a woodmizer sticker and stick it on the home depot plastic bucket .
Full kit and no free advertisement for Home depot
Ha ha.

When you’re measuring for FINISH DIMENSIONS do you need to account for shrink? If so how do you calculate that? Love the channel.
I know I will lose anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 in on both sides. The way I build accommodates that. Certain build types may not work. Board/baton, Timber frame (mortise/tenon) will work with green material. Loss is in diameter and not length.
Just looking at the new saw mill and wondering if the roof overhang is enough to keep the rain off. Shame for the outside edge to get rusty.
It does cover it but it’s pretty much exposed, so we are adding an additional 3ft overhang
You know, all that piece that you just cut with all the knots sticking out of the top of it, that would look good as a borden, batten only outside of a something
I did that on the cabin remember? It does look good
Is it better to saw the logs when there dry are green ?
I’ve done both but haven’t really noticed any difference in cutting. The green will shrink a little.
Hey Jennifer do you know why the blackberry won its race? it was berry fast😂😂😂
That’s a good one!☝️
What ever happened to the camp site you had up one of the hollers?
Just been busy on all these other projects that took precedence, lol. We will make that happen in the future
what did you put on the posts before you put them in the ground ?
tar ?
Yes
👏🏻👋👌😊🙂🙋♂️🇩🇪
Sorry I've been gone, but why is Jennifer moving back home?
Hey there! It’s all good, welcome back!
She just desired to move back. 😂 nothing else.
🇳🇴👍👍🥇
put a pail of water in the hole go have lunch, and then try it again You might have to soak them overnight
I’m afraid that would make it more difficult because the red clay is so sticky the tools would not work right.
Jennifer, come on, girl, lean into slab your holding your dad up. Lol.
Tell her! She is slacking up, lol
Never a sit back and relax.. always got something you are hard at work doing.MEN AT WORK.😅
You got that right! Stay active
Good friends are hard to find
So true
You need to get a pill of ducking and a transfer fan and blow all your sawdust into a common location where it can collect and later be moved
Think I’ll blow it on the ground again. That worked the best so far. I don’t have the power to spare but have the labor, lol
Why do you not get carbide blades
Carbide? For the sawmill?
Hey what are you doing
Isn’t that the best “line?”
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Hey Ernie!
Yes Sir?
Just saying hey! 👋🏼 How are things?
