Strangers sometimes are prepared to die for some one they don't know. Yet put them in a uniform and they are prepared to kill some one they don't......... And both can be called heroes. What a sick world we live.
When you put on a uniform(any uniform (bukowski the mailman)), you become a slave/soldier/statistic. You dont make decisions, the decisions are made for you, dont follow the instructions passed down from above you get written up/imprisoned/fired. Deep down the soldier doesnt want to kill but the fear of failure overrides the humanity. Dont let fear consume you.
Oh for fuck sake. Bloody naive idealists. See, both soldier and EMT is a job that adults can choose to train years for. When they finish training they get their big boy pants and both are expected to carry out their duty to the people. And this is just the simple version. Such a powerful sense of movement. I started writing before ever reading Bukowski and Im quite terrified to see the same complexity inhabiting him. This black and white, good and bad, constantly revolving senselessly making everybody loose the true grasp of life. The understanding that time is relative, not as to understand the concept but to implement direct recognition of this relativity in the core of thoughts and vision. His use of repetition has to show how every single option is already played out is just so intense. That's faith and the direct absorbtion of it. His sarcastic demolition of poets basicly means stop idolating. Stop pretending some of us are better than the rest. Care for everybody. That's really the only thing we need to do to have world peace and explore this life and universe together. But that is also the fallacy of it, that is not what we are. Our true meaning in life is what we are doing.

I agree with that...Christ tells us that also along with many other spiritual beings. 'Love one another as I have loved you'...that is the challenge of being a 'true' Christian.
Didn’t expect to find this masterpiece, damn.
Glad you like man
Even me
Bro, What is your profile pic XD
Same..
Love the voice of Tom O'Bedlam. One of the best poetry readers on RUclips. And Bukowski is one of the few modern poets he will read. OH the GLORY!

Better for themselves and their families.

Bukowski, the poet of booze, neon lights, cheap hotel rooms, the beat of the rainy street.
His work is so powerful and moving...
I like how on a video like this, the whole comment section just turns into poets and philosophers. I love it!
Damn... How did RUclips even know I was in the mood for Bukowski? Phone was in my bag, next to the book Post Office. Hmmmm.
Hahaha they know everything.

I spoke about him at the dinner table last night. And here he is.
His words are stripped of flowery meanings and just the bare truth of life
Have you seen Bukowski's vids on writing and his style? He goes into all that. It's quite interesting.
My heart absolutely moves everytime I read or hear these words. He knew the darkest of depths and still managed to craft it into something beautiful. Melancholic beauty, but eternally beautiful in light of the depths he was creating from.
Absolute perfection.I used to read a poem every morning but this is so much better.thankyou.and you're brilliant
It’s not that great of a poem
Write one
I love that you said that, I thought I was the only person in the world who does that. Poetry is just concentrated life.

indeed, awesome combo Max Richter

One of my favorites by bukowski
My favorite.
I can’t tell you how much happy I am that I found this channel, thank you.
Sometimes I feel lost in this world of ours. Many people are here, and I often forget how ahead of others I am, and I often feel like I'm further behind in life than many others. Why do I feel this lack in life? Is it because I am relaxed on a couch in Italy, while my home awaits my return in Los Angeles; or because I left my job to travel Europe for two months, and now credit card debt is accumulating, and I don't feel like I want to work it off. Why does short term gratification feel so much better than pain and suffering? What is my purpose, for I feel, I can not find it and it does not want to present itself to me. How much annoyance I feel with myself and the world in which I live in, for being so convoluted.
Imma pray for you
Forget purpose...live ... in eat life...no one gets out alive ...relish in the simple gifts of life ...I keep repeating this mantra in perpetuity but I too am discouraged disenchanted uninspired ...pullin for you Valentino
I hope you are still lying on that couch in Italy. X
You are sad and came to this poetry again?

Love that the phrase blinked when talking about neon signs
Wisdom borne of pain is the struggle for one's soul. Fight on.
When the letters blinked like a neo sign would wow that is TOP CLASS WORK ....
there is a loneliness in this world so great
that you can see it in the slow movement of
the hands of a clock.
people so tired
mutilated
either by love or no love.
people just are not good to each other

Dude- all you need are some tasty waves and a CooL buzz,,, and you'll be fine!
This is one of the most chilling, revelatory poems I have ever heard.
It is so real it’s painfull
When the truth stops being painful, you'll know that have taken the blue pill.
Truth can be just that. Painful...
I find it rather comforting. Your perspective needs a shift, is all.
And Beautiful at the same time
Every now and then I come back to this poem and cry
There are some people so lonely. That the touch of a fly soothes them.
Bukowski reminds us all how important your perspective is.
Bukowski had me noding, the tears are for Max Richter...
Never cease to stir emotions.
Thank you
I felt this SO DEEP IN MY SOUL nothing ever will never replace it ....this is priceless beyond bounds of sensitivity... respect you for your creation....and ever grateful for legend Bukowski....he won a throne in my heart where even I wouldn't fit myself in ....
One of Bukowski's finest works. Well imagined. Cheers!
I miss many thing ...i miss having hand of the one i love in my hand in middle of busy street and know that every things gonna be alright...
I could add variables like conscription or plague. Maybe both.
You are so damn shallow I couldn't drown a ant in the pool that represents your mind.
Bukowski s Poetry and punk rock music got me through high school
My heart slows down to make way for Bukowski
It's impossible to breathe straight with such great words
As long as there are words, l will never feel lonely in my aloneness... As long as there is someone out there... I will use words to reach out and connect... Words never die, even when you don't speak them, hear them, write them... There are so many out there, an eternity of words...🙏
Thank you RUclips for recommending. 💛
Everything is hypocrisy. Life is a hypocrite of non life, looking in one direction is a hypocrite of looking in another direction. I am a hypocrite in the very act of calling myself a hypocrite. I can’t deal with hypocrisy.
maybe you should write a poem about that ......
Life is indeed a contradiction
O my goddddd “Many old guys in cheap rooms without photographs at all” . My heartttttt
This is perfection !!!! The poem , the transporting music , the evocative voice of the narrator absolute perfection. At first I thought it was Bukowski himself reading his poem . This is how I imagine his voice to sound .
it is bukowski himself.
only poet himself can read the text correctly with such intense. maybe that is the reason why the poem gives chills and tears.

We don’t think about the terror of one person aching in one place.
when asked what he had learned in his long life Aldous Huxley said that the one thing he would say is that people should just be nicer to each other. Novelist, philosopher, public intellectual and this was his most pressing thought. I concur
There is a sadness so profound in this world that, if unleashed, it would destroy everything.
This is just so beautiful, i cried while watching . Thank you very much.
More haters than lovers is whats wrong
I would rather be considered a nobody than to be recognized as a shallow pretentiousness member of a society who validates it's existence through materialism and egotistical social status.
Materialism has become a substitute for human connection. I feel like we live in a fake plastic world. I think I need to stop going to kwick trip.
No one understood .... Charles Bukowski, understood...timeless understanding...
"and the oceans come in and out.. Under the direction of sense less moon" Bukowski just plays with words...

The music is not needed. The words are powerful by themselves.
But it added another dimension. A person with a gift for narration wasn’t needed either, but I won’t complain. The overall effect was powerful.

The taste of whiskey reminds us of how badly we need to have an alternative to reality.
🤔
If you get lost in a false world then you will never handle the real one.
@@persistentlydriven9390 The true taste of whiskey is bad, but it deadens the harsh sting of reality, and so we "acquire" a taste for it. I watch the face of the defeated as they throw down that foul tasting poison.. It is the look of slow suicide. Then the alcohol reaches it's destination in the brain. Great picture of loneliness in late capitalism. He said it all.
We don't live in capitalism, over half of the markets in the US are dominated by monopolies, or partial monopolies, which are often supported by the government.

Being vulnerable to life is a delicate sentiment that exposes you to truely live your own perspective of life whether its fulfillment of resentment towards life or Algophilia (sadness thrill) but in the end, you only live in your own perspective of life.

I love your content. This was so powerful.
