That’s incredible! I did the trail once about 10 years ago before they closed the gates for winter and it was pretty wild and there was only a few feet then that was enough for meZ
Just so you know, you can take the road over the top of AF to Cascade springs and then from Cascade springs to the Deer Creek Dam. It is a decent trail with a few technical spots. I would like to know where the snake canyon trail is
It’s the road that you jump on on the left hand side heading up the canyon right before the Dam right? Snake Canyon is just the main road headed up AF Canyon over the top into midway.

Just an FYI to everyone, they changed the name of that mountain. It’s now called Kyve Peak (pronounced like five). Most map apps, and signs are being updated, so if you go looking for “squaw peak” you might get confused.
If you have a full do you can get a lot done. I’d quickly check our silver lake. Then head up to Tyngse grave in Miller hill rd. Then over the top down to cascade springs and then back.

Utah County is a bit limited during the winter because most of the trails are in the mountains which will all be closed for the next 5 months. The San Rafael Swell is a good option. The Huntington entrance is only a hour and a Half away and you can spend days exploring the swell and barely scratch the surface. The Price area has a lot of open desert trails that are good options as well. My Winter Overland trip from last winter goes through both. You also have the 5 mile area. It’s mostly an OHV area but lots of fun trails that head into the west desert. The Pony Express trail is really cool. I did a video on it. You can hit it and then come back after you make it to fish springs. Little Moab also has some fun trails also in the West desert.
I am trying to basically copy your trip... I found the Fire road #195 that drops down into mineral basin, however I cannot see the path you take to go over into Midway. Could you help out?
We start out at Tibble Fork. Head up over the top via Snake Creek. Some maps have it down as American Fork Trail. Once it hits Cummings parkway down to cascade springs which can lead down to Midway. You can then Head down Provo Canyon to the turn for Squaw Peak Rd which will take you to Hobble Creek.
this trail looks awesome! i’m pretty new to off roading. i just got my first 4runner. it is stock so i’d need trails like this. do you have any more info you can share on the route you took exactly ? i have a hard time finding trials that won’t destroy my rig as it is stock as well as nothing too crazy since i’m new to it. if you have anything to share that’s be amazing ! thanks in advance :)
This is a great starter trail. I’m more about exploring than technical rock crawling. Sometimes the trails are tough other times more like this. Happy to share my routes I’m actually working on a public map people can use and just download my tracks.

I like to air down for comfort more than anything. It’s not technical. However all of the trails in this video will be closed due to snow. I did a trip in the West Desert that will be a better option for this time of year.

I would head to the West Desert. There are a bunch of trails near the 5 Mile Pass recreation area which is just west of Lehi. From Provo it will probably take 35 mins to get to the dirt. There will be some snow there but not all snow. From there you can Jump on the Pony Express Trail.

Take a left onto Squaw Peak RD and then you stay on it until you hit Hobble Creek. From there you can head into the mountains or back down into Springville like we did.

I believe the road you're talking about from Squaw Peak to Hobble Creek is Pole Haven/Heaven Road.
This is so cool, my dad years ago drove this road. It took him 5 hours cuase of all the snow banks the had to dig out, the snow banks were 7 feet tall

Hey I’ve rented a side-by-side for one day and plan on unloading at Tibble Fork Reservoir. Do you recommend a good loop we can do for a day??

Usually Memorial Day weekend. Sometimes a weekend or so before or after depending on snowpack.

No you will be fine! Keep in mind it’s likely closed now for the winter. Seems like they usually close the gate around Thanksgiving.

I'm from Provo I didn't know about this trail.. I have a question tho!! Doni need a big vehicle for that trail? I have a Ford escape it's also 4x4
Ford Escape will be fine! Avoid it if there is bad weather and you will have to choose good lines in a few rutted spots but you will be fine.

Lots I’ve just found over time. Almost anytime I see a dirt road I take note and check it out Google earth.
