  • The Basic School, also known as Marine Corps Basic Officer Course, is where every Marine Officer has to go prior to the fleet to learn how to be a provisional rifle platoon commander. I went to this course in 2021-2022.

Hey LT, I'm working my way thru your videos but I would like to tell you a story I think you would like, this video reminded me of. Years ago, I worked as a DOD Contract maintenance for the Navy at NAS Meridian, Meridian and NAS Kingsvillie are were the USN teaches kids to fly jets, T-45C's. We had USN, USMC, Argentinians, Italians, Spanish, French pretty much any nation except the UK, Russia and China send their Naval Aviators thru this pipeline. Right before the Royal Navy stood up their new carriers we started getting Brits(RN and RAF pilots). Anyway, we had gotten familiar with accents from the UK. So, no shit, there I was on the USS Ronald Regen for a Carrier Qual Det, at the end of the day, I recover a T-45, kid gets out, I ask the kid how the jet is, I'm looking at the jet and not at the young Lt and he replies in a thick Irish accent that the aircraft is "up". I turn around to face him because you have to look out for these young pilots because it is their 1st time on a carrier, so I heard a Irish accent but I see a American flag on his shoulder, so I ask "who he was?", I was thinking a Brit who swapped patches with a buddy, but his reply hit me in the "feels", he said:
"I was born in Ireland, but now I am a United States Marine"

One of best things about USMC, all new Marine officers go to TBS regardless of commissioning source or whether you have air/ground/legal contract. Really good baseline of training. Even though I didn’t get MOS I wanted, respected the quality spread process. It’s a smart way of doing business. Was Delta Co 4-94. Great bunch of guys. SPCs and staff were good too. S/F.

I don't think the Marine recruiters bullshit people like the other services do. So many people I served with(including me)got screwed and flat out lied to. I at least held out for the job I wanted rather than what they were trying to sell, but had to wait almost 2 years to get the specialty I wanted(K9), that I was told I could request after basic. They never mentioned I needed to be an E4. They also told me I would go in as an E2 for getting my buddy to join and told him the same thing. Neither one of us got that. It was bad in the 90s, but I still hear folks say it today. The Marine I talked to laid it all out, no promises, no BS. My GT score was too high, though(had to get one Marine joke in). I also think Marine officers are more proficient. All the stuff they say about LT's in the Army is true 90% of the time. They Army officers don't really get moving and not have people looking at the CPL or SGT for verification until they are CPT or a senior O2. Especially academy grads. Our BN CDR fired 3 out of the 4 we got in our company in the 2 years I was there.

I kinda want to make sure revelations was depicting the spiritual war I was just in, and not a physical one yet to be seen.
If the world is healing now, I could totally join the military as a late-in-life unearned position officer.
Oh! Chaplain. I could be a bitchin' Chaplain. I just spent 20 years weaving my own religion out of everyone else's!
I'm basically already a Uni-Pope. Francis took too long. Hahaha.
Two things I'd rather not do is hurt people who didn't have it coming and more importantly?!
I don't wanna be anywhere near the Iron dome systems if it gets set to offense.
    Even if I'm behind it.
Especially if I'm behind it! Yeeesh.
I'd be a pretty shit officer though, everything the grunts do looks way too fun, gaurenteed my paperwork and correspondence never gets finished.
"Hey, boss? Rookie just shotgunned a robotussin what do we do?"
"Strap in for the ride, I'm not reporting this so we're all riding this trip together. You know what? I'll get pizza. I am absolutely not staying but I'll get you guys some pizza."
Then schedule everyone for something I enjoy training in as a punishment like, "We doing Sere school again gentlemen. No, it has nothing to do with the robutussin, thats why we're in the arctic circle watching snow melt and refeeze. It's calming, right?"
    Hahahaha
I need a future military, we should basically go private military inside a government structure. That would be cool, basically mercenary get payed, arm yourself take advantage of government standardized training so everyone is basically on the same page.
You know? Give me twelve guys and phone numbers for other dudes with twelve guys and the officer I can call if group two is acting like rocks so the whole military knows to kick them over if they see em.
    It could work!
Like Militias, but we'll regulated. OMG I'm brilliant. I was born to kill it just so happens I picked spiritual weapons. 😅
