Great advice Dr Dan, whether on holiday or not. Maybe you could have specifically mention Flying in aircraft where hydration and noise are particularly bad for voice not to mention the hazards of other passengers and the possibility of them spreading coughs & colds. Planning some long haul flights atm for 2025 so its something I'll try to be conscious of at the time. Thanks for your continued informative online presence.
When your voice becomes hoarse, and you experience lung pain while singing, it may be a sign of strain or improper technique. Consider the following steps to address this issue: *1. Rest Your Voice:* Give your vocal folds time to recover by reducing vocal use. *2. Consult a Professional:* Visit an ENT specialist or a voice therapist to rule out any underlying medical conditions. *3. Review Technique:* Evaluate your singing technique, focusing on breath management and avoiding strain. Consider taking lessons with a qualified vocal coach to ensure proper technique. *4. Stay Hydrated:* Drink plenty of water to keep your vocal folds hydrated. *5. Avoid Irritants:* Avoid smoking, alcohol, and caffeine, which can irritate the vocal folds and contribute to hoarseness. Addressing these areas can help alleviate your symptoms and protect your vocal health.
