I first started to listening to Rush when he first came on the radio in Michigan. That was in 1988. I was 19 or 20 then. I am fortunate enough to have seen him live at his Rush to Excellence Tour in ‘89. It was like a rock concert for political nerds. That event was as amazing as Rush was.
It was an amazing time when Rush first showed up. He continued to amaze all the way through.
Rush was my hero; throughout my life I have had very few actual hero’s.
I was always interested in the political arena. He taught me SO much and even helped shape me as a man.

I grew up listening to ya with my grandfather,I remember when I drove with Grandapa to the to different stores as a kid he'd have Rush playing on the radio,Rush taught me so much about Patriotism and the declaration of independence and the first and second amendment he made me appreciate being an American and that there's nothing wrong with being a Patriot,made me one myself.

I remember being a brand new conservative 15 years ago or so. I would listen to him when I got the chance. He really was a breath of fresh air. No matter how old he got, he actually stayed ahead of the curve even at the end. He would even take time to check out the tech side of the internet and what a lot of young people were saying. You could tell he really did care about the country and the people in it, even the people who hated him.
I've never agreed with all he said and I think he would have liked that. I admired him. He was articulate, decent, flawed and impeccably dedicated to the ideals of Conservatism at its best. I used to drive a lot for work and would usually tune into him (before Apple-Play) and never once did someone who called to poke him or pick at his views get treated poorly or disrespectfully. That shows the man was genuine. He was at peace with who he was and what he was. And that is perhaps the greatest lesson I've always taken from him. He is missed.
