At the beginning we were chanting "Nightwish is a feeling I can't stop, each day I love you even more"
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions yes! I couldn't afford a ticket so my best friend got it for me, best night of my life😭
Can you have better friend. Lucky you !
I was there too!!! I cried a lot that night
This band is so uniquely. Not stuck on any one style. So versatile!
The arm pumped instrument is the Uilleann Pipes. They are a bagpipe instrument without a mouth inflator. Nice reaction.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions I little more about them :). One of the most evocative instruments on the face of the earth, to me. ruclips.net/video/4MxFsk4sYM4/видео.html
Alena nailed it. Again. Take a victory lap. 😂 The song is about the loss of innocence/childlike sense of wonder. The loss of the ability to feel things as strongly as we used to. Hence, the tears of joy as a child. I.E. A kid gets their first puppy/kitten. There’s usually tears. Great commentary. So Brad was expected to stop the video for comments and didn’t? For a metal guy, I think he likes the song much more than he put on. 😂🤘
Haha! Don’t worry about it. I thought the same as you until I googled the song. So she’s ahead of both of us. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm a Metal guy through and through, and at the end of the day this is Folk Metal and i love it 🤘
I have listened to heavy metal, hard rock music since I was a young kid..before I was a teenager! Nightwish is just darn unique and having Floor Jansen as their lead vocalist just an extra dimension.
I have discovered other similar bands, and they all are excellent. Nightwish just has that something extra....their lyrics and music to each of their songs always touches my emotions in a different way.
You have figured nightwish out. Something for everyone. Epic scores. Heavy in your face metal. Soft ballads. Folk melodies. Pop rock. Fantasy wonderland. Thought provoking ballads.
You have a large variety to choose from.
Nightwish is a personal band. That you find your own meaning from thier songs. That you share with millions.
I mean they are doing music for more than 3 decades now, it's still amazing they manage to make good songs anymore - a lot of bands just waste all their creativity on their first albums. (And yes, they do have songs about elves as well).
Oh...good... one of my favorite Nightwish songs!!
nice reaction. Nightwish is soo versatile, you can't put them in one genre. Always expect the unexpected and keep an open mind.
Next try romanticide from Wacken 2013
The Wacken 2013 version of this song is great as well and features Emppu pranking Floor (although it's easy to miss), but Floor is so full of energy in this Buenos Aires performance that it's become one of my favourite performances 😄 Astonishing enough, she had just recovered from a really bad cold when this was recorded. Irish bagpipes, uilleann pipes, are considered to be very hard to master and Troy's said that you have to be slightly insane to even attempt it.
Thanks for the reaction, as usual a treat to watch!
Yeah , Floor was great at Buenos aires and her performance of 'Nemo' was her best of this song imho . At the end she,s going completely over the top..😱 you see Emppu reacting with : WOW.!!! And then Floor,s endpose..😍 i love it..
I agree with Alena. In my opinion, the songs refers to child's innocence that's lost as we grow. "I want my tears back" means for me to go back to a moment in time in which I was able to feel and discovers things for the first time.
Hard to beleven but 2 years ago i had no idea who Nightwish was... Now im a die hard fan greatings from Denmark
Floor's evening schedule: Gig at 9:00 pm, boss fight at 11:00 pm. No time to switch gear.
I do agree with you both on the song meaning. It's hard to really pinpoint whether the tears reference to happy times or sad times, or just the reminiscence of youth altogether and how it looks like at an older age. But I do certainly agree that there is this Alice in the Wonderland reference about crossing a certain point when you can't go back anymore, and innocence and sort of purity is one way to explain it. I don't really have a deep analysis this time, as I feel like this song can be interpreted both ways and neither seems more right or wrong to me. I do love the song and the performance though. Such a fun and uplifting tune.
I agree. Good take on the meaning, bro.
Hi from the UK. The uilleann pipes are the characteristic national bagpipe of Ireland. Earlier known in English as "union pipes", their current name is a partial translation of the Irish language terms píobaí uilleann, from their method of inflation. These were extensively used in the Irish show "Riverdance". Best wishes and thanks for your positive reaction and analysis.
Nice reaction! Indeed you were right concerning the Irish connection. Troy was playing Uilleann Pipes, that are of ancient ireland origin. That were brought to Scotland during late Roman times. Were they were evolved into the warpipes that the Scottish Bagpipes became..
if she like this sort of songs listen to elan--nemo--the walden--the carpenter--sleeping sun --how,s the heart and more
"My walden" is what they should have listened to describing their parameters. They shouldn´t miss "Dead Boy´s Poem" (Buenos Aires 2018) and Sleeping Sun (Tampere 2015).
And Edema Ruh!
Uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes).
Just loved...your afterwards reactions you both 👍🤗🦉💜👑
A simpler way to describe the nature of the lyrics might be “I want my childhood back”.
I wish to see the lost in me kinda says it all.
Weak fantasy next😁
Tampere version
Yes. Tampere
Tampere 2015
Great reaction! "Shudder Before the Beautiful" is heavy but not to heavy for your wife/girlfriend but I think you will enjoy it. Much love from Los Angelas!
The opener of Wembley, its so good and gets the crowd going from the start.
You are right. Nightwish made a film based on the album where this song is included, Imaginaerum. The story is about an old man who has suffered a stroke and has lost his memory and is in bed in a hospital, sort of dreaming an imaginary life, where actual memorie and his imagination blend. He's trying to recover his old memories and the love of his daughter, which he lost years before. Nice movie indeed
That weird but beautifully sounding instrument is British and so is the musictan.
Cool, a shout out! Thanks guys. Hope you enjoy it. :)
To me the song title is a metaphor. "Tears" could be a reference to feelings and emotions and not literal tears. So "I want my tears back" is a way of saying I want those moments of pure joy and wonder to come back. The joyful vibe and fantasy like melody of the song is intended to emulate the magic you are able to see in the world during childhood, hence the reference to Alice in Wonderland. Also, remember Pan's Labyrinth?
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions You welcome! Good work with the reactions.
Btw are you going to check out BABYMETAL at some point? Their shows are entertaining and good for reactions since they have a large fan base. I suggest "Road of Resistance live in Japan (official)" ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Haha well I'll be looking forward to her reaction. You were right about the elven vibe, not for nothing they have a song called Elvenpath.
You probably already know by now but the instrument Troy was playing is called uilleann pipes, a less known type of bagpipes with a more mellow sound. Apparently they are very difficult to play. Cheers!
It’s a tipical football chant. Awesome.
When we’re released from this pandemic I want to go to a. Bar and have this song played
I agree completely with the lady about the song. The author is longing for the childhood innocence he once knew.
Loved your reaction and a lyrical analysis/discussion! I agree with Alena, this song is happy to be pessimistic, it's filled with joy. I've had a friend once, that told me that metal shouldn't be happy, he meant songs like this one. To recommend you a few more happy songs : Alestorm - Drink (An ultimate happy drinking hymn) and Mago De Oz - Molinos de viento (Windmills en Spanish). Stay healthy!
Sorry, not all, but I try to listen to all!
Sensory overload….NW style!!
Irish/Celtic vibes from Troy on the eolian pipes.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions There could be a spelling error :)
you deserve a like guys! 👍🏻
Try listen to Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018
What can I say nice reaction, many had said so much with what i agree. So I say you are so sweet and lovely! Kippis.
Inigo says "were gonna need a bigger pub"
Floor leads NW-army against bad music. Her outfit is outstanding🥴, like superhero. Thank your reactions and analyses.
Listen also to ...my Walden.....Irish bagpipes....
Nice reaction, keep them comming :-)
I just thought of something. Make your girl's grin wider than Nightwish does, and your relationship will blossom.
This goes both ways, of course.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Sadly, not nearly enough......
Hey, Brad and Aliona! Just caught your reaction. Good one. Good 2 c u guys again. Brad, if u want something to feed your craving 4 the heavy stuff, I suggest Floor's band REVAMP and a song called "Disdain" from GRASPOP. She growls. REALLY growls. And she's Blonde! Anyway, good 2 c u. Say hi to Aliona 4 me. Does she read these? Stay safe, both of you. PS: Yes, they do use a lot of Celtic influences in their music (among many others). That's mostly due 2 Troy.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Thanx to you both. Also, I think your interpretation was spot on. It's about that pleasant and sad feeling of nostalgia and the longing for childhood wonder and imagination. Tuomas is a genius! PS: I didn't spell her name right? That's how it's pronounced?
@@tracyturner6968 Just commenting about the pronunciation if you're really interested in it. Are you also interested in Finnish language? Well, his name is Tuomas Holopainen and you wrote his first name perfectly. Here's how English people should say it: The "t" is very soft, the "u" is like the "o" in "book", the "o" is like the "o" in "door" and the "a" is like the "a" in "park". Many people say that Finnish is a hard language to learn but there are also some easy bits, like these:
1. You always say every letter the same way in every word.
2. The pronunciation of every letter is very short. If we need to pronounce a letter longer, then we use double letters.
3. There are no silent letters...
Still, if you want to think about it like that, you might say that there is a one silent "p" in the middle of the Nightwish guitarist's nickname "Emppu" for example. Finnish people say it like "Em-(a little pause)-pu" and the last "u" is short of course. We just imagine like we are saying the first "p" but we don't pronounce it there. That's only because the letter "p" is a "hard letter" and you can't really say it longer. When foreign people say "Emppu" it usually sounds like "Empuu" with a much harder "p". The Finnish "p" is somewhere in the middle of "p" and "b".
Another example is the Finnish first names "Tommi" and "Tomi". "Tomi" is almost like an English "Tommy". When you pronounce "Tommi" instead of "Tomi", you just keep pronouncing the letter "m" in the middle longer. You say it without any pause in between. The pause was only the case with "Emppu". There's no pause because the letter "m" is a "soft letter". So, you could keep saying "mmmmmmm" for a very long time.
I hope this was useful. If it wasn't... Well, I'm specializing into writing long comments at the wrong time. Nothing new there. :-) I somehow felt like writing this. I just hope we keep enjoying this great music together. Be safe. I wish all the best to you.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions You're welcome. :-) Well, it's actually quite funny. I thought she (Tracy Turner) wrote about not possibly writing Tuomas Holopainen's name right. I didn't even notice that she wrote "her" instead of "his". Here's another quite useless tidbit about the Finnish language: We use the same words "hän" and "hänen" for both sexes instead of he & she, his & her... :-)
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Ah, the light goes on! Sorry about that.
@@Vimana Yeah, sorry for the confusion there, I was referring to Brad's girlfriend.Thanx, brother. Also, yes, It took me a little while to say Tuomas' name right, as with the whole band except Floor. So you're from Finland? I'm so freakin' jealous that you're from the same country as them! Peace out and stay safe. PS: Greetings from the USA.
Could you react to elvenjig/elvenpath from the same concert😀
I would like to suggest you to react Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars live rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studio. Please and peace 🙏🏼😎✌🏼
This!
I might be wrong but I don’t think you guys have done Ghost Love Score yet, I’m surprised, that’s the one I usually recommend to start the Nightwish flight. From the same Wacken concert. 🤟🤟✌️✌️
If you want more metal, listen to Floor with her former band 'After Forever - Monolith of doubt live at kopspijkers' or a softer ballad 'After forever - eccentric live at pingpop 2004'.
Greets from the Netherlands.
"Folk?" Symphonic Metal.
Whatever the songs mean or interpret if it moves someone, then it's good. :)
Folk and heavy, try reacting to Eluveitie, I'd suggest Ategnatos that includes the current line up.
don't forget to watch "ghost love score" which is not just a song but an experience, an event! ruclips.net/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/видео.html

Please, try Iron Maiden "The read and the black" Live Chapter Dvd, I'm sure you like it a lot

Please react Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera - Live at Download Festival 2013, it's spectacular
don't forget to move during the song. you look at whether you are at a funeral 'is not easy such a you tube channel
We know you're a metal guy already!!!!! Just react to the song!! Every time you have to gauge it against your metal thermometer. Reactions are to appreciate OTHER types of music not just your preferred ones, step outside yourself and listen for what they are not what you wish them to be!!!!
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Humility is rare these days, good for you!!!!! I meant it in a positive way, I like your reactions is just that it may seem, even if you don't mean it that way, that less metal takes away from the song.
You have more instruments to discover and probably the best ever in my opinion (except organs which can imitate almost all of them). I don't want to spoil too much even if the name in English may be unknown to you. I don't want to take any risk so I'm gonna write it in French :) vielle à roue. But don't cheat, don't google it. There are 9 members in Eluveitie. I can't wait to see your "WTF is that!" face... Bagpipes are almost common compare to this one.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Wise decision. The player of this mysterious instrument has a YT channel, started with covers of the band and now, he or she is in it. Later, you will have to check his or her covers of Lamb of god, August burns red and even some Gojira riffs. It's f***ing metal.
What's up with the dude's face for the most of it at the start?
Please react to Iron Maiden "The rime of the ancient mariner" Live at Flight 666 Dvd, It's awesome
Thank you for this reaction. Nice work. Due to the comments that you Brad likes more heavy guitar play and you Alena wants melodic folk music I will suggest to react to "Last Ride of the Day" the final song at Wacken Open Air 2013 ruclips.net/video/wv7QsIDsUJQ/видео.html because it has best of both sides in it.
You can do it...yes...laughh its fit u...bouth .huh A
than more nightwish with floor
🤘🤘❤️🤘🤘😁
For the record, the Irish very much have elves in their older lore, so that would be appropriate!!!! 😉
