Here's the thing about Nightwish man. You kinda touched on it at the end there a little bit, but let me help you flesh that out some. They may not be your favorite band (by "you" I mean everybody in general collectively) and they don't need to be. They might not be your favorite sound, and they don't need to be. But they are Home. They are where you go for Feels. They are where you go when everyone else let you down. They are Family. You go a week or two without any Nightwish, listening to everything else but them, and your first song back with them again will have you in tears without fail each time. They don't need to be the best, or even your favorite. They are the most important.
"I don't think I've ever listened to a band that has elicited an emotional response like this out of me". THIS THIS THIS. That's the essence of this band and source of their unfathomable magic. You know, I'm pretty much dead inside, but Nightwish brings out emotions in me I didn't even know I possessed. Damn you, Holopainen! The only other bands that do that to me to some degree are Rammstein and Wintersun.
This song is so fun and joyous. I love that Floor doesn't care about looking cool and just goes for it. She is totally in the moment. I love it when she says, "Argentina, show us your moves!" It warms my heart.

Nightwish Wednesday! There's a clear reference to Alice in Wonderland in this song. Bummed you didn't choose Weak Fantasy because everyone went berserk there, including Troy. Next time then 😁
Nightwish has a black belt in hitting you right in the feels. I've never encountered another band that does that to me with such regularity. If you want Tarja do Phantom of the Opera, she and Marco kill it.
For old school Tarja I recommend Wishmaster from the "End of an era" concert. Other personal favourites from the old ones are: I Wish I had an Angel Nemo Over The Hills and Far Away
Over The Hills And Far Away is one of my absolute FAVORITE Nightwish songs. I know its a cover and not an original, but it always brings a big smile to my face when I hear it :)
She got flu but still gave the best performance to satisfy the fans Dancing on the high heels in that suit? Still can't believe she did it What the hell epic 😍😍😍

Gosh do I love Floor. I think she's my favourite famous person. She worked super hard to get as good as she is, she's super humble in all her interviews...she's just amazing all around and a great role model for ANY entertainer.
In case you didn't know, Marko had a throat surgery in 1996 during which the surgeon accidentally damaged a nerve in Marko's vocal chords. Luckily, after very hard work, Marko somehow managed to be able to sing again losing only his clean falsetto vocals. P.S. As a teenager I developed an interest in WWII German tanks, which is why I finally decided to subscribe your channel.
You're right. Marco gets better and better. Not only he, but EVERY band member. They grow together and their performances are becoming more and more pure perfection. Watching them all having greatest fun with their audience makes me happy to tears. And your comments and reactions are wonderful. I'm so much looking forward to your next Nightwish video.
Here again got stuck to Nightwish for two hours. You can keep Nightwish wesnesday going over a year they have so much excelent songs. As I know one reactor reacting record to Nightwish songs is 54 reactions and still counting... So long and enjoyable way ahead 😊
I remember watching a Nightwish show (Wembley I think) and seeing a shot with people in the crowd holding a sign "We love Troy's massive pipe". Probably the funniest sign I've seen in my life. Well, we certainly do love Troy and we do love this song. And this version is special because South American crowds are the best! They adore symphonic metal and bands like Nightwish and Epica always love doing the shows there.
Ok, Tarja recommendations then: the most obvious, which you'll get suggested to no end for sure, is Phantom of the Opera from End of an Era. And by all means, it's a bloody fantastic Tarja-Marco must listen. One you might not hear as much but that i think deserves a lot more than it perhaps gets is "Beauty and the Beast" from Wishes to Eternity live in Tampere, with Tony from Sonata Arctica singing as Beast. If you want to react to a less common one, that's what you should go for. Then there is "The Pharaoh sails to Orion", again from Wishes to Eternity in Tampere, which is a beautiful one. I'll also recommend "Planet Hell" from End of an Era, which is very powerful too and deserves a reaction.
I never get tiered of seeing people fall in love with Nightwish. The craziest thing is the newest album they just came out with is a masterpiece from cover to cover.
Lmao. In the beginning when the crowd is oh lay oh laying, I loved that the drummer started with them. But go back and watch when Floor does her little jiggle, look over her left shoulder. Check out Emppu getting down. 😆
I saw them front row on this tour. When they did this song, there was a little girl 5 or so. She was dancing like crazy. Floor acknowledged the girl after the song. I love this band.

I've been a fan for 15 years, being part of this was epic ♥
I would never have been able to tell Floor wasn't at 100%. Unreal! That crowd is unreal. You'll hear me comment "there are band's that don't get that kind of crowd even while they're playing" when they're dancing and chanting at the beginning.
Crowds in South America, are the friggin best, every live performance I see in S. America, 400 million people who all know the words, sing along to instrumentals, and gives everything they have from start to finish...Hope 2021 comes with a vaccine and a ton of shows to go to!
When they performed this song in Wacken in 2013, during the instrumental part, Emppu passes behind Floor and shuts off her in-ear monitor. You can see her give him the eye as she turns it back on and when he passes her again, she does a 360 so she doesn't expose her back to him again xD
This song is legit a party song. It makes my heart so happy! As for old school Nightwish with Tarja, anything from The End Of An Era performance (which literally was Tarja’s last performance with Nightwish and had no idea it would be until after the show).
Propably number of people have told you this before but before watching The Poet And The Pendulum research the background of the song. Hits your feels tenfold when you know what it is about.
If you want to hear old school Nightwish with Tarja a lot of people will recommend their cover of Phantom of the Opera, which I will second that, but I'd also recommend The Siren - live End of an Era performance. Not enough people request that song and I think it's one of their best performances.
If you are having Floorgasms you'll love Epica - Consign to Oblivion, Essence of Silence and Sancta Terra Live performances are absolutely FIRE! This band is like a marriage of Nightwish, Wintersun and Children of Bodom, but can be best described with one word... Epic...
Nightwish is Emotion. Period. Beautiful, intense, dreamy, majestic, Epic, its enough, it doesnt need to bei brutal, too. It Just hits different, but No less heavier. My two most favourite Metalbands are Nightwish and Slayer. Same intensity. Just in a whole different way.
I don't know how anyone can say they don't like Nightwish after they have actually listened to their music, been listening to them for nearly 20 years and sadly I've had to put down many who have tried to put them down, if you don't like it fine, but if you don't like it just because you think Symphonic Metal is blah blah blah, then I don't have any time for that. Great reaction, having said I have listened to them for nearly 20 years they still manage to get me emotional and give me goosebumps to this day, that's special. As for a song with Tarja, I recommend Wishmaster, Walking In The Air, or Phantom of the Opera, in that order of preference. Great to see the passion you have for music 👍👍👍🤟🤟🤟🤟
You will say this statement after you review the next Nightwish song” THAT WAS WAS MY FAVORITE SONG” NIGHTWISH fan for over 20 years and my favorite Nightwish song/preformace/concert is always the last one I listened to. It’s just easier! Great job🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I've said this a few times, but it's worth saying again, this band illicits a rare emotion for most music nowadays:joy. They can be very dark, and in the case of songs like "master passion greed" they can actually be quite brutal. But they are most definitely the most "musical, and musically fearless" band out there right now. I'm an old school punk and former touring metal musician and these guys are, in my opinion, the most musically complete band on the planet.
If you want to start exploring the back catalog, these would be my recommendations. Oceanborn: "Stargazers". "Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean" Wishmaster: "She is My Sin." Dead Boy's Poem" Century Child: "Phantom of the Opera" Once: "Dark Chest of Wonders". "Wish I had an Angel". "Nemo" Floor has covered all of these over 7 years. This is old school Nightwish and Tarja Turunen absolutely kills it. You can really appreciate the bands creative journey from then to now. It is so refreshing to experience your passion at the beginning of your Nightwish journey. Reminds me when I got started. Take care.
first time in my life i actually waited for a reaction... not really because of the song choice, but the great reaction you do! love to hear somone so passionate and technical describe music... thank you
To echo some other comments, I would highly recommend "Phantom of the Opera," "Wishmaster," and "Planet Hell." (all from the End of an Era concert) Tears and goosebumps are a sure sign that you have become a member of the Nightwish Army. Side effects may include a burning desire to continue listening. (No dues required, membership does not expire)
Tarja era, Phanton of the Opera is a must!! Planet Hell, Dark Chest of Wonders, I Wish I had an angel, Wishmaster, Over the Hills and Far away, all from the End of an Era concert, just take your pick, they are all amazing songs! This concert was like the equivalent of the Tarja era to Floor era Wacken 2013 imo, both amazing concerts where you can't go wrong with any of the songs, and is also famous cause it was the last show before Tarja got fired, she received a letter firing her from the band after this show. The band had no idea if they would ever get back on a stage after this, and you can clearly see it on Tuomas face and reactions on this show, specially on the closing song, I wish I had an angel.
There are no bands that can hold a candle to these guys. What you have described is what makes them so great. Their music does all the things you have described. I have only been listening to them for about 8 months but I am their greatest fan along with what seems like millions of others. I tear up all the time because of the love of the band members and the adoration of their audience and the interaction between them. The music is unmatched in my entire lifetime.
The only thing I hate about your Nightwish Wednesday’s is that I have to wait a damn week to hear your next Nightwish reaction. 😄 You haven’t even scratched the surface of how awesome this band is. Especially with Floor. And I say that with the highest respect to Tarja and Annette.
@TankTheTech It's so great that you appreciate Marco's vocal abilities. His previous band Tarot, and his current solo project are well worth checking out.
In my mind, the three quintessential Tarja-era essentials are Nemo, Ever Dream, and Wishmaster. All three are absolutely fantastic and showcase the classic Nightwish sound that got them recognized and skyrocketed them to popularity. So glad that you did the Buenos Aires version of I Want My Tears Back - it's my favorite because of the energy that both the crowd and the band put into it. As always, awesome reaction!
i felt the same way when i heard these works of art for the first time. at phoet and the pendulum I still get goose bumps, especially from minute 11. simply awesome
I highly recommend "Slaying the dreamer" live at their End of an Era concert back in 2005. Marko is really showing his full vocal potential in that song, an amazing performance. I believe it was their last concert with Tarja as their singer, hence the name "end of an era". I would also recommend "Phantom of the opera" and "High hopes" (also performed at the same concert), though all of the songs they played during that concert are awesome according to me haha. Btw really appreciate seeing youtubers who loves Nightwish and become passionate about this amazing band!
Every time I hear Bagpipes or the Flute being played in their music, I'm amazed how it sounds like it simply belongs! The same is true for Violins and other instruments, more bands need to add this sound into their music. I just love the complexity and intricacy of it all. Just like Metallica's S&M which is an incredible album and live performance.
You want Troy? Last of the Wilds (Wacken 2013). It's an instrumental. For Tarja: Swanheart (From Wishes to Eternity DVD). It's pure Tarja magic at best. It also gives a very good idea about what made Nightwish so special right from the start. Nobody ever reacts to this song, which is a total shame. Plus this is truly old, Marko isn't even in the band yet. Other essential Tarja songs are Sleeping Sun, The Siren, Wishmaster. And the Phantom of the Opera, obviously.
Have a close look to see Empuu pranking Floor onstage. At about 45 secs you can see Empuu talking to Troy telling him what he is going to do. At about 4:00 you see Empuu go behind Floor and turn down the volume or turn off her in-ear monitor. Then she reaches behind her. The funniest part is at about 4:30 when Empuu crosses the stage again. Floor turns around to watch him so he can’t do it again. Here you see the height difference between Floor’s 6’1” in heels and Empuu’s 5’3”. They laugh at each other. If you than have a look at Ghostriver from Wacken you’ll see Emppu passing Floor with his hands up and waving: See, I am doing nothing ;-)
Yes, this "turn down/off in-ear monitor" thing seems to happen mostly during "I Want My Beer Back"... Sorry, that should be "I Want My Tears Back" (Jeez, how could I get it so wrong...). Normally, the only time Floor turns her back towards the crowd is when she walks off the stage, like at the intermission in "Ghost Love Score". But when Emppu has done some kind of prank on Floor she doesn't want to turn her back towards him and you see Floor doing some kind of "dance" to avoid being pranked again. Tank - You may have seen it somewhere else that Floor from time to time takes revenge on Emppu, like pouring out the beer from Emppu's Corona bottle and fill it up with apple juice. Emppu hates apple juice. Cheers / B.
I noticed the height difference, but I can’t believe I missed him messing with her pack! Keep the comments like this coming! I love little bits of info like this!
I think Over the Hills and Far Away was the second song that got me hooked on Nightwish after Wanderlust. In terms of energy and vocals, Over the Hills and Far Away would be a great next Nightwish vid to check out.
This is one of my favorite Nightwish songs so I'm looking forward to this reaction. I love the Celtic folk sound and of course I love to see Floor dance. 😁
One of my favorite things about Nightwish is the whimsy and the wistfulness that can seep into their songs. Their lyrics are about a million different things, no set genres: childhood, unrequited love, sorrow, bitterness, just all over the place. Love them!
I don't get that whole gatekeeping/elitist mindset that seems so prevalent in metal about bands being "not brutal enough" or not metal enough or whatever. Metal music, and music in general for that matter, is expansive and huge and there's room enough for not only different individual tastes, but for people's different emotional states. There's nothing wrong with loving bands across the metal spectrum. Sometimes you want to listen to something brooding and dark. Sometimes you want that brutality. Sometimes you want something light and happy. That's just part of being human. You need to tell your friend it's time for him to expand his musical horizons...
I agree, I don't get it too. Somehow I didn't meet that in the german metal community, at least not here in the south west. There are, of course, many who are not so passionate about Nightwish and female fronted symphonic metal in general, but they listen to them occasionally. And there are, of course, some very few individuals who dislike Nightwish. But most people I know, love Nightwish as much as they love great Death Metal and classical Heavy Metal. I get more and more to the conclusion though, that this whole rivalry and aggression between fans and musicians of certain metal genres against other metal genres (like symphonic, power, experimental, etc. metal) as well as other genres in general (glam rock, all the different 'gothic' genres, j-rock and visual kei, EBM and what not) is barely present in Germany, compared to other countries. Maybe it's because the german culture has been far more indoctrinated with underground music than most other countries. Like, it's common that the german charts are regularly ruled or dominated by a metal band or a rock band, you have death metal showing up on mainstream radio and tv now and again, and they have 'special' shows for metal, rock, goth, even hip hop all the time. So, even though most common people don't listen to it, they hear it.
Many have suggested a Nightwish cover for Pink Floyd's song "High Hopes." It’s a really good way to watch old Nightwish because early in their careers they used a lot of cover songs. Such as "Phantom of The Opera", "Walking In The Air", "Over The Hills And Far Away", "Crimson Tide / Deep Blue Sea", "Finlandia" and "High Hopes". In two of them ("High Hopes" and "Phantom of The Opera") you can also hear how excellent the singer Marko is. There are two concert recordings from earlier Nightwish productions. The first was "From Wishes to Eternity", recorded December 29, 2000. The second was "End of an Era", recorded October 21, 2005. Those two songs ("High Hopes" and "Phantom of The Opera") are from this latter concert.
For old Nightwish with Tarja you should go with "Wishmaster" live - from wishes to eternity! That has been the first song of them I heard! Of course you have to react to "the phantom of the opera" sometime. It's a classic and one of my all time favourites. If you like to see a ballad, do "walking in the air".
Tank, before you dive into the early history, could you react to While Your Lips Are Still Red from the Wembley concert. Marko takes the lead and it is Troy who plays the E-bow and Floor is the backup on this.
This song has one of my favorite lines ever. "Where is the wonder? Where's the awe? Where are the sleepless nights I used to live for? Before the years take me, I wish to see the lost in me."
The pure joy on your face made my day! Thank you! :) That joy is the main reason why I've been in love with this band since 2006. They have so much fun on the stage, and the crowd can feel it too! These live DVDs keep me alive till the tours can start again. ^_^ Are you aware that Nightwish's 12 crew members are releasing 5 cover songs? They call themselves Crewish. :D
@@TankTheTech The band has already been paying some bonus money to the crew from their own pockets, but I think it's lovely that Tuomas is so happy to let them use his songs to earn some euros of their own. And have some fun on the side. :)
You haven't heard Marko's full range until you've heard their cover of "High Hopes". Mark my words!

Floor's good cheer and energy in the folky jumpy parts is so so infectious. She has such incredible stage presence and charisma.
I love the wild FLOOR on Stage..
”The Islander” from Tampere is a great Marko voiced song!
This is an absolute MUST see.
Yes, but " While your lips are still red" is probably the greatest!
Johan Arnfinn Løvold I’ve been listening to that over and over as well. It’s pretty dang wonderful.

Siren, Wishmaster. STARGAZERS , 10th Man down, I wish I had an Angel, She is My Sin.........
I'm glad that you're open minded and able to appreciate music even if it's not brootal. F*** any haters
If you are having Floorgasms you'll love Epica - Consign to Oblivion, Essence of Silence and Sancta Terra Live performances are absolutely FIRE! This band is like a marriage of Nightwish, Wintersun and Children of Bodom, but can be best described with one word... Epic...
EPICA - Consign To Oblivion - Live at the Zenith is a video i think
yes he would love Epica ---
Nightwish is Emotion.
Period.
Beautiful, intense, dreamy, majestic, Epic, its enough, it doesnt need to bei brutal, too.
It Just hits different, but No less heavier.
My two most favourite Metalbands are
Nightwish and Slayer.
Same intensity.
Just in a whole different way.
Tarja-era: Dark chest of wonders! Love this song so much!
Another Nightwish anthem ......just awesome ....Hello from New Zealand
Impossible to sit still during this one. And they done it again! Made a grown man cry! And they will keep surprising you. Trust me!
I always feel better after a good cry 🤘
You can tell Floor is having the time of her life!
If you want to start exploring the back catalog, these would be my recommendations.
Oceanborn: "Stargazers". "Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean"
Wishmaster: "She is My Sin." Dead Boy's Poem"
Century Child: "Phantom of the Opera"
Once: "Dark Chest of Wonders". "Wish I had an Angel". "Nemo"
Floor has covered all of these over 7 years. This is old school Nightwish and Tarja Turunen absolutely kills it. You can really appreciate the bands creative journey from then to now.
It is so refreshing to experience your passion at the beginning of your Nightwish journey. Reminds me when I got started. Take care.
Nightwish "Rules"! Oh yeah!! :-) Adore your reactions and now look forward to Wednesdays!
first time in my life i actually waited for a reaction... not really because of the song choice, but the great reaction you do! love to hear somone so passionate and technical describe music... thank you
Thank you so much!
Oh, this IS the best Nightwish song! And this was the first time I heard it. :D Thank you.
Please react to 'high hopes'(yes they covered Pink Floyd) and 'sleeping sun' both from 'end of an era'
I fall deeper in love with Nightwish (with Floor) with every song I listen to... so you're not the only 1 my friend!!!
To echo some other comments, I would highly recommend "Phantom of the Opera," "Wishmaster," and "Planet Hell." (all from the End of an Era concert)
Tears and goosebumps are a sure sign that you have become a member of the Nightwish Army. Side effects may include a burning desire to continue listening. (No dues required, membership does not expire)
Tank, its Tuomas and Floor. They reach into your heart and pluck the soul chords and help you find your own inner song.
Phantom of the opera. Tarja and marko are unreal in this song.
Seeing you react like that to Troy made me so happy, love seeing him jam out on the pipes.
The only thing I hate about your Nightwish Wednesday’s is that I have to wait a damn week to hear your next Nightwish reaction. 😄 You haven’t even scratched the surface of how awesome this band is. Especially with Floor. And I say that with the highest respect to Tarja and Annette.
Two Nightwish days, same goes for Chase too :)
I agree to this one, but only if you also do a reaction to Floor's version of that song. I still haven't decided which one I like better.
Yay!!! Excited for you to check out old Nightwish. End of an era is an amazing live show!!
You’ll realize soon that Marko is a man with many voices. A true performer.
Also, on the Marco front, their "Phantom of the Opera" is the most absolute BEST EVER!
I am an Opera singer but I love NIGHTWISH!!!
I used to ignore Nightwish long ago, then i saw them live once, and since then nothing more than absolute love for them.
Marco is originally from Tarot not Nightwish. Check Wings of darkness with his twin. Superb powermetal.
Loved this reaction. Phantom of the Opera with Tarja, Nemo and Sleeping Sun are some of the best. 😀👍
TankTheTech Just watch it again 😉
And remember it when you get to „Ghostriver“ from Wacken
@@TankTheTech Well, it is easier to see if you react to the Wacken version, where it happened ^^
That happened during the Wacken show, right? Not this one in Buenos Aires?
Often, when listening to other metal-bands, I find them "not Nightwish enough"...
@@johanarnfinnlvold5989 🤣
I love almost all metal...then again my love for music in general is wide. I think exploring new stuff is exciting. Like powerwolf XD LIKE DUDE
Awesome! We've reacted to this song, so now I get to watch yours too! :D
❤❤❤ Nightwish thank you for great reaction !❤🤟
For old Nightwish with Tarja you should go with "Wishmaster" live - from wishes to eternity! That has been the first song of them I heard!
Of course you have to react to "the phantom of the opera" sometime. It's a classic and one of my all time favourites.
If you like to see a ballad, do "walking in the air".
Tank, before you dive into the early history, could you react to While Your Lips Are Still Red from the Wembley concert. Marko takes the lead and it is Troy who plays the E-bow and Floor is the backup on this.
This is definitely a party banger of a tune. Love it!
Yeah, this Song (-Performance) is so amazing
This song has one of my favorite lines ever. "Where is the wonder? Where's the awe? Where are the sleepless nights I used to live for? Before the years take me, I wish to see the lost in me."
Such amazing energy shared at that show... awesome... love all of the details you share Tank, great stuff on Marko's bass.
The pure joy on your face made my day! Thank you! :)
That joy is the main reason why I've been in love with this band since 2006. They have so much fun on the stage, and the crowd can feel it too! These live DVDs keep me alive till the tours can start again. ^_^
Are you aware that Nightwish's 12 crew members are releasing 5 cover songs? They call themselves Crewish. :D
Yeah, I saw that. That's awesome!
@@TankTheTech The band has already been paying some bonus money to the crew from their own pockets, but I think it's lovely that Tuomas is so happy to let them use his songs to earn some euros of their own. And have some fun on the side. :)
Ok old school Nightwish recommendations. Sleeping Sun, Come Cover Me, Stargazers, OH and my favorite Passion and the Opera.
Uff, I've never seen a reaction of Passion and the opera, which is , i think, the most pefect song with Tarja. I second this motion! :)
