barely any of the people out there have proper respect for the conditions. Maybe i'm overcautious but going through conditions like that, pfd's are on.
Whet are the deformations in the midnight express hull about 1-2 Metres from the bow that the water drips from when it’s on plane? Are they bow thrusters?
I loved seeing that Whaler come through. That looks like a conquest, just an older rendition of my boat, the conquest 305. My boat would've done the same thing as that Whaler in the end, plow its way into the inlet and give a round to the boats!
I used to live in Boca and we would hang out at Lighthouse Point in Pompano. One sunny afternoon back in 1987 we were on the beach, snorkeling off and on around the reef and boogie boarding when a large off shore "Cigarette" boat came speeding out of the inlet. They totally missed the clearly marked outlet and drove right on top of the reef that was just starting to be barely exposed below the waves. They were stuck. Having never seen one of these boats up close my two friends and I swam out to the boat using my boogie board as a floatie. Our plan was to help them push it off the reef. Well if you know how big these boats are, with twin Big Block Chevy V8 engines and a cabin in the bow, no one was going to push one off with man power. I also let my boogie board slip and it got washed back into the beach. The tide was coming in and as the boat rocked helplessly on the reef it got turned stern into the oncoming waves. At this point I noticed the props were stripped clean of the blades from gunning the engines while it was on the reef. As the waves broke over the stern the engine hatches were coming open and the boat was quickly filling with water. There were only 2 guys, maybe 25 to 30 years old on board. We yelled at them to jump off and we would drive them to a phone to call for help once we returned to shore. They agreed. As we were swimming in, probably about 200 to 300 yards to shore, a Broward County Sheriff's boat pulled up. They took the 2 passengers on board and yelled at my friends and me to swim on in. I guess someone must have been watching all along for them to know who was on the boat and who wasn't. As we got to the shore I crawled to my feet and took off running to where my boogie board and settled to up on the beach. As I reached it 2 Deputies ran out of the bushes and tackled me. There was suddenly 6 or 8 of them. They grabbed my 2 friends as well and took us to a table in a backyard that backed up to the beach. They sat us down and interrogated us for an hour. Apparently drug smugglers will fill boats with drugs and then sink them off shore and divers come back later and remove the drugs they told us. I doubt this was the case as the boat was going out and not coming in though. They finally let us go convinced that we weren't involved in any way. As we were being interrogated we all watched the boat get washed off the reef with the rising tide and sink in the bay. One of may crazy memories from my 3 years in South Florida.
Yeah, but I would pitch the motor up a bit and actually use the throttle to make way, and not get sideways. I've spent a thousand hours windsurfing wind against tide slop like that on sinker gear, so I'm used to reading the water though.
The boat that went behind the Bayliner looked like an old 32 foot Wellcraft St. Tropez. That’s what I had in south Florida when Haulover was my inlet. And, I even took a good smacking one day going out in that boat at Haulover. I wouldn’t ever have taken a bow rider through there in anything less than perfect conditions.
I looked at a 32’ wellcraft st. Tropez that was in excellent shape and very well-maintained last weekend I ended up passing on that deal but I was actually pretty impressed with the fit and finish considering the era the boat was from
...btw it's "throttle down" is backing off the speed; "throttle up" is higher speed. The Captain of the Whaler was perfect, he could always quickly drop speed if the bow and swells were hitting the boat at a bad angle. #perfect
The Bayliner is from Freedom Boat Club - Freedom is owned by Brunswick which also owns Boston Whaler, Mercury, and a whole host of known brands. Was out today in a Freedom Bayliner in 1.5-2 foot rollers which is ok in a following sea, but a bit rough coming back. If you cannot bring the boat to plane (around 3500 rpm minimum) you are better off plowing at 2000=2500rpm. By plowing you keep the bow up. PS there are other vidoes on this channel of Freedom boats one of which was grounded.
Thats true. A Force is a generic Mercury lol. We had one and it never broke down once. My husband was meticulous about proper maintenance tho. People treat their boats and engines like shit then wonder why it says "fuck you" out in the middle of the ocean. Stupid people!
Those ladies on that open bow Bayliner had no business attempting Boca Inlet in that kind of weather. If they had checked the inlet conditions prior they could have made a better decision.

The bow anchor hatch on that Boston Whaler was open as they came in. Lucky they didn't stuff the bow or they would have filled it up with water. While they did a good job of coming in, not sure I would give them the win because of that.
Are the holes in the bow of the Midnight Express a bow thruster? And with all the Honeys in his boat, the man with the Intrepid is a winner no matter what
1:07 Every time I see a boat like this with their droopy bow I think of a shovel. I would never buy a boat like that. 3:54 On the other hand I have always like Whalers. For their size they are tops.
Aren't the droopy bows boats called "lake boats?" I don't think they are designed to go out in big waves. Plus they put people in the bow to make the problem 2x worse.
Most places arent that rough and unpredictable. You can tell a lot of people in these videos have me er been through that before considering they aren't even really holding on when they start hitting big waves
Would you take a Bayliner through Boca?
Yeah why not that Hull did it’s job It kept the occupants safe inspite of massive incompetence on the part of the operator
I wouldn’t take a Bayliner on a windy lake let alone Boca…..plus exposed fenders = rookie

So many videos between all your channels. I've been watching for weeks and still tons to enjoy. Thanks for the great content
Ditch the cheesy bell, please!
It's annoying as hell, that bell.

Boca or the boats won? I thought it was 3-2 for the boats…. You said BOCA takes the win… but it was the BOATS!

Fenders still out says something too 😆

One boat 2 losses? NO. Boat screwed up period, 1 loss. Boats win 3-1
Completely agree. That was the same incident....1 loss fo that boat, not 2

At least the Bayliner had its fenders out, in case it needed to dock suddenly somewhere in the ocean.
