Plastic toe baseplate, instead of metal ?
Preferred the built quality of the original. Meh ...

I wondered about that, but it seems the weight has come down from 1500g to 1340g, which makes it a bit more competitive with the likes of the Marker Duke PT.

Yeah. Like Titanium doesn't exist. This is all about >Return On Investment< since this product is not cheap already

@@RadIguanas - Still going to be heavier & as you say more costly. I imagine the advent of the Duke PT & Shift have hit Cast's sales, so it's prob essential for them to reduce costs.

True. But I would gladly carry a couple more grams in my backpack for the convenience of a true alpine binding.
The entire rock solid "metal toe" design of the Pivot 18 goes out the windows with the plastic base.
Still, it's the ice buildup on the fiddly metal hook and spring, that worries me most.
      OG Cast was hassle-proof

@@RadIguanas - They still list a 1.0 metal mounting plate, which might cater for people like yourself, where bomb proofness is the main criteria.
But the 2.0 version in plastic seems to be only sold with the Look 15. So maybe they're consciously gunning for the less extreme end of the market.
