From the early days in Vermont to now, for us Duncan has been a true OG and inspiration in skiing. And he doesn't seem to be letting up soon! We couldn't be happier to have him on the Cast team and using the kit to it's potential! Filmed by Sean Logan

1.0 When to restock
please develop a better riser system. in all honesty the current system is junk and hard to engage compared to bindings like ATK's
Plastic crap… Let me guess: cheaper to produce, it will worn out, and snap, your profit will increase when skiers will have to purchase replacement parts 🙄 and now you want me to reduce my carbon foot print!? Total BS! POW is a scam.
I'm not buying second gen. The plastic toe piece holding the binding down will snap and I'll die
Pretty slick brohiem
what skis are those
Praxis FRD
cool
Plastic toe baseplate, instead of metal ? Preferred the built quality of the original. Meh ...
I wondered about that, but it seems the weight has come down from 1500g to 1340g, which makes it a bit more competitive with the likes of the Marker Duke PT.
Yeah. Like Titanium doesn't exist. This is all about >Return On Investment< since this product is not cheap already
@@RadIguanas - Still going to be heavier & as you say more costly. I imagine the advent of the Duke PT & Shift have hit Cast's sales, so it's prob essential for them to reduce costs.
True. But I would gladly carry a couple more grams in my backpack for the convenience of a true alpine binding. The entire rock solid "metal toe" design of the Pivot 18 goes out the windows with the plastic base. Still, it's the ice buildup on the fiddly metal hook and spring, that worries me most. OG Cast was hassle-proof
@@RadIguanas - They still list a 1.0 metal mounting plate, which might cater for people like yourself, where bomb proofness is the main criteria. But the 2.0 version in plastic seems to be only sold with the Look 15. So maybe they're consciously gunning for the less extreme end of the market.
Plastic toe baseplate, instead of metal ? Preferred the built quality of the original
This is huge...
When will the freetour 2.0 upgrade kit be available again?
whats the smallest boot yall can do this on?
an incredibly cool job would still come up with how to make a walking-skiing switch
May be obvious when you’re doing it but black washer was actually white in mine for whatever reason
These are super rad, but the cost seems a tad high. The hybrid options end up being cheaper if you don't already have the looks.
Only like 100-200 more marker kingpins are 600 shifts are around 600 and these are 680
@@TruettD the Marker Duke PT and Solomon/Armada/Atomic Shift are consistently available for under $500. If Cast could work out a deal where you could buy just the look heel piece and mounting plate for the toe, then the Cast system would be the choice for folks with more than a quiver of one pair. As is though, there are more affordable options.
Who the fuck sat there and said, I like this race boot but I’d like it better if I could tour in it… like wut?? Why?
Probably someone who skis better than you
I am upgrading my skis with my pivots already mounted them. How would I go about doing this?
I’m in the same boat
But the free tour convesion kit
I’d imagine all you’d have to do is drill the holes for the brake stopper and mount the new hardware and screws in place of the old ones at the front.
Lp
Would you be able to share what drill bit is being used here? Hoping to pick one up to finish install. Have your system and the look pivot 15. Have binding holes drilled, but need to add the template holes. Edit: your skis should have the recommended drill bit marked on them.
You have it down with all the right tools, what do you charge for your work?
EDIT: Only ONE of the tech toes was incredibly hard to get in the tech position and click into the boot, nearly impossible. Customer ended up calling the store/seller they got it from and then were sent another single tech toe. I asked the customer to contact me back with any updates when they receive it, it’s been about a week now so I will update. Bless you for this video. Straight to the point and clear on what to do. At first I was nervous because the template holes weren’t matching “perfectly” but getting it as close to the drilled holes as possible worked out more than fine.
Sliced bread
just waiting on that email, for when it available :)
Excited same question when are they available
When are these coming up for sale?
They are
Do these work with the Pivot 12s
Nope, just the 15s and 18s
If my ski pops will the toe piece fall off? Doesn't look like the pivot toe piece locks
It wont. There is a switch that holds it into place. The toe piece does lock.
no give-away :P hehehe
Hey, neat solution! I saw you didn’t do more boots this season. Is it possible to just buy the ”kit” with screws, toepiece and soles from you to install by yourself? BTW, discovered your products thanks to Reine’s excellent selling vid about your Freetour upgrade kit ✌🏻Keep up the good work! Cheers from Sweden! ❄️
Hey Hey Im experimenting with music if you have time check it out thanks ruclips.net/video/cFLgM44uykw/видео.html
Great job
That is super cool! It just makes me cringe a bit to see a really nice boot treated like that but I guess it doesn't harm it.
Why ski on a piece of floor?
Ski everything
@@SnootchieBootchies27 You rock!
I just ordered a kit! I really look forward to try them this coming winter!!
where did the metal toe fitting come from? is this something one could buy?? I would be very interested
Interested in the tech toe sole plate as well. Did they ever get back to you?
@@GordonMok unfortunately the video did not but I reached out to the only company on the entire internet that used to sell them and they said they aren’t allowed to sell it in that form anymore. Unfortunately it seems to not be something one can buy
@@nathanstine4630 that’s disappointing... I’m wanting to convert a pair of Apex boots. Have you thought about harvesting a tech sole plate from a used or discount/clearance boot?
@@GordonMok yeah I looked into that. I wanted to do something similar with my boots. The problem is that because tech bindings are still relatively novel/on the rise in popularity there doesn’t seem to be a cheap way to get trash boots yet. I’m sure that will change in the coming years
very excited to get and mount mine
