    tutorial design walk throughs are brilliant. One suggestion. can you enlarge your cursor a bit... would make it way easier to follow your steps. Otherwise A+++

    Is there a shortcut for turning points on and off? How did you select only the one point on the subD plane without turning on all the points. This was at 29:34 in the video.

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  2 месяца назад +1

      ctrl+shift allows you to sub object select a point on a subd (or edge or face)
      f10 on a pc turns points on, f11 turns them off, or you can make an alias for them, or copy the pton ptoff buttons to your pop up menu.

    Thumbs up for Kyle, dude has been the best teacher since at least 2008 when I started watching him.
    Although, interesting how the framerate of the videos haven't changed since then :P

      Thanks for the kind words, funny story about the frame rate. I always use goto training for the webinars and they have had the same frame rate and compressions forrrrever.
      Keeps the “folksy homemade” feel going… :-)
      Thanks for watching all these years!

    is there any chance you can request for a specific tutorial in this channel? I am looking for woodcarving modeling mainly with subd for both 3 axis and 4 axis cnc machining. would love to hear back from you. Thanks.

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Год назад +1

      I try to stick with what I know, and I have not done any cnc machining myself.. I've had thousands of parts made via cnc, but I always rely on others with skills in that craft to set up and run the machines for me.
      there are several folks on our forums who do this type of work check them out at -

      no great way of sharing it on YT.. I recommend pausing the video and grabbing a screen shot.
      Or even better design your own version and build that. You'll learn more building your own designs than you will building mine. Remember the goal is to apply the techniques shown here to your own work, not just be able to copy a video.

    Very nice video, I hope in the future that you will change the background from Clear White to a darker theme.. It is hard to follow you up with a white background in place

    • @Rhinoceros3d

      Darker backdrops make the black curves really hard to see on video.
      Would it help if I bumped up the line width?

    just finnished this build myself and kinda had me wonder was there a particular reason why you scaled the vents to make the split line instead of offset then in cuz scale kinda left two sides lot bigger then the other 2 ?

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Год назад

      Offset makes much more complicated surfaces. Scale simply transforms them with no interpolation.
      I like the thick thin feel of the lines.. offset would be more “accurate”

    I believe you have done this tutorial for Windows, however would you mind doing a quick run through on how you set up a hot key for changing the degree of a line on Mac. I find the command interface a lot more complicated.

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Год назад

      you can create an alias for the changedegree command, or add the command string
      InterpCrv Degree=3 Pause Pause Enter
      to your existing line button.

    • @maxfreeman5857
      @maxfreeman5857 Год назад

      Even more basic question, how do I go about setting up an alias/command. Could you potentially link me a video/point me to a tutorial? Thank you for the response@@Rhinoceros3d

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Год назад +2

      @@maxfreeman5857 on the mac, file>settings> aliases
      hit the + button in the lower left of the dialog and anter a command string and hot keys you want to use.
      keep in mind you can use more than one key for a hot key
      you can use t for trim,
      you can also you tt for top
      or ttt from untrim etc...
      or
      ut for untrim,
      tp for top
      etc..
      just be kind to your hand... don't make hot keys where you have to stretch your thumb in the opposite direction from your pinky finger.. that is a disaster recipe for an RSI injury to your hand.
      for example QM or AL ... don't do that...

      Hello, I had the same problem and spent one hour trying to fix it, and I finally did!
      So basically if you look at the bar at the top where the (Grid Snap, Ortho, etc..) are, there's a funnel icon, click on it and activate SubDs and Curves/Edges, and your problem should be solved!
      Hope this helps :)

    Are you making a sculpture or an industrial product? There is no control of the mech Features! for example: what's happen if you have to use existing buttons with a defined geometry? Tspline for Rhino was milions time better.

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  10 месяцев назад +1

      Neither, I'm making a quick demo ;-)
      What are you missing from tsplines?
      (I used to be the demo guy for tsplines and I politely disagree. Rhino subd is way more stable and capable than Tsplines was. )
