Her involvement with a politically distorted murder trial sent her into hiding, becoming one of the FBI’s most wanted. She spent 18 months in jail before she was acquitted of all charges.
She returned to teaching, writing a series of seminal books on social justice and equality. She joined Krishnan to talk about Socialism, how change happens, and her life.

Of course having belief in positive change is inspiring but her idea of how to achieve that is idiotic. 5 and a half minutes in and she's already lied more than once and promoted socialism which does not jive whatsoever with our Constitution. I can't wait to hear what else she has to say.

@@ZooomaCW we don't have a constitution in the UK nor is socialism 'evil' as the UK is a socialist benefit state. So ok? America could do with a healthy dose of socialism

    A refreshing change.
A patient and respectful interviewer and interviewee. Not in a frenzied time limited dash to provide a bite sized bit of insight, or preferably controversy to grab a headline, instead a mature recognition of a seemingly a timeless state of affairs, change. This was in relation to the current news predominating crisis, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which was hardly mentioned, briefly mentioned in relation to a myriad of factors, accepted as the way of change.
It can take a long time then seemingly happen all of a sudden, in an event seen in retrospect to go all the way back to a vague and broad state of affairs, in which correspondingly broad and vague movements, such as capitalism and fascism more satisfactorily come to mind.
Within these can be more recent facets, such as climate change, permitted in a predominating preference for profit over even the life of our planet.
Mentioned a number of times in the long struggle for racial justice is the George Floyd event, how it provided a catalyst for demonstration on a scale not seen before, a sudden awakening to a matter formed from decades if not centuries of investment, in something that drove and developed millions of people, day after day, in ways that more satisfactorily formed them.
Angela Davis hasn’t given up any of her revolutionary spirit in spite of seemingly a more mellow perspective. She considers herself and abolitionist rather than reformist, regarding prisons, police, and other unsatisfactory institutions, rightly so in my opinion, perhaps referring to reformism as a means of preserving the unsatisfactory state, of oppression.
From this emerges currently, amongst all the other aspects, concerning gender, race, social injustice, the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Her emphasis upon collectivities, community contribution to change, incorporating not just her role, represents a profound understanding of not just her effect but much more, maybe initially including the Communist movement.
Maybe, more currently, it extends to the Ukraine effect.
