One of mine & my husband's wedding songs! Ernest stole the show, as he always does! And all the guests hollered out "Awwwww Billy Byrd now!" E T. was, and still is, the best.
I was fortunate enough to have played guitar behind Mr. Tubb when he would come into Houston without his band and perform in clubs owned by his friends. I spent three years looking at his rear end and enjoying his humor and encouragement for my meager playing. He was a father figure to me and I miss him greatly. R.I.P. my friend.
Today we don't have anyone like him, and this video has 693 likes through 12 years. I don't know why people nowaday don't understand what is the real art and who was real artist
Ernest tubb and hank sr and Carl smith and Roy accuff and Webb pierce and kitty wells and jean Sheppard and hank snow are the real deal in country music! And in only 31! I'd rather hear the legends than hear the junk that passes for country today!!!thanks trashville!!!
Oh, what a marvelous post of such a wonderful song written & originally recorded in 1949 by Leon Payne. The single went to #4 on the Billboard Country & Western Best Seller lists. It was #1 for 2 weeks one on the Country & Western Disk Jockey List, & for 32 weeks it was on the chart. It took a amazing singer like ET to record it in 1950 to put this song right back on the charts that fast & making the Top 10 on the Country & Western charts. God Bless for saving this classic film of ET.
I found the Billy Byrd Bigsby in Tulsa in the nineties and owned it for many years. The pickguard was broken and laying in the case. I was able to restore it and put the guitar back on its feet.

Would hope so, he was one of Hank Williams' greatest influences.
The 30 people who pushed “thumbs down” should get tested for COVID. They’ve lost their sense of taste.
