- Mercedes Caho and her husband, Josh Butcher, have been charged with the August 2022 murder of their son, Brayden Butcher. The Pima County Sheriff says detectives were called to investigate after the hospital found the circumstances surrounding the eight-year-old’s death suspicious. Following a lengthy investigation, a grand jury indicted Butcher and Caho on charges of first-degree murder and felony child abuse. I always hate hearing about little boys with autism being abused or ended .. my 4 year old is autistic and is literally my favorite person to ever exist.. they deserve all the love in the world .. every child does but it just perplexes me on how you can’t love your child regardless
I have a son with autism as well--also one of my fave humans ever... his observations and joys light up my world. Some of the only true crime i can't watch is the stuff that deals with little autistic boys; it just hits too close to home.
Same! My little boy is 5 with autism and he's so loving and precious. He brings so much joy. I could not imagine. 💔💔💔
My son is 12, autistic, has leg problems but he's also my smartest child and my best friend! He's smarter than I am and also teaches his older siblings and adults new things all the time. He's also full of jokes and makes us laugh all the time.
I am getting sick of seeing so many of these stories of parents or other adults harming children, especially their own.. so heartbreaking! 💔

How do we know this child actually had autism/rheumatoid arthritis/scoliosis? What if parents made up these illnesses just to gain sympathy/money?

Medical records exist. So does interviewing people especially his doctors & psychiatrists etc

I went to high school with them...I didn't know them too well but I remember when he died she posted that gofund me page and went on and on about how it's her 24/7 job to take care of him. Josh was in jail for a while, don't know why, and I think they had their daughters after he got out. Everyone is going crazy on Facebook in disgust calling them scum, which they are. It's funny I've never seen her bare face before her mug shot 😂
Why would they do a go fund me for a cremation? Isn’t cremation much cheaper than a funeral? It would seem to draw attention to this child’s death also.
@@tallblonde1976 at the time I don't recall cremation being mentioned. It was mostly for funeral expenses I think...but yeah it didn't really make sense
My mom passed in august. It was almost $4000 for cremation. They charge a million fees for everything. Charge fee for picking up the person and tons of other random fees.

Whatever happened to the innocent until proven guilty ? How come they weren't arrested when he died if he's head was bashed in ? Don't be so quiet to judge. Just the fact that it took two years to change them is a red flag in my opinion. I'll wait for judgement when more details and a trial happens.

I have a son with Autism its hard work but I would never harm him out of frustration which they have done if he even had all those disabilities. There's help and support out there. Give him up. So sad and disgusting.
There are 2 other children in this family, where are they living now? There is no mention in this story about them at all. This is very strange.
Two young sisters are mentioned in the parents’ GoFundMe account; they’re likely living with family members now. It’s probably undisclosed for privacy reasons.
The two girls are living with Mercedes grandparents and doing well. Never any sign of abuse towards the girls. I knew them both well and had them in my home several times.
The world is becoming more and more evil. It's like a pandemic of gruesome behavior.

It hasn't increased at all. We just have more people living now. News also gets spread much easier and quicker now. Back then it was happening but news didn't spread out of the area so others never heard about it. They never broadcasted trials or anything back then.
It isn't the world. This may be a surprise to most Americans, but there are countries with very little crime rate. Especially grusome crimes like murder. US problems are not a representation of worldwide problems. Some problems are specific to the US.

What did the parents say happened when they brought him to the hospital?
Is this new or are people just getting caught faster?
What ever happened to innocent before proven guilty ? If he came to the hospital with all of the abuse too his body, then how come the parents weren't arrested when it happened ? Why did it take two years and a grand jury ? This isn't as obvious like a lot of children cases who have been murdered 😢.
I'll save my judgement until the trial or confession.

He didn't just "have autism since he was 1 1/2"- he had it from birth but it didn't become apparent until that age. As an autistic adult, I feel that it's important to point out that autism doesn't just come on someone at a certain age like catching chicken pox or the flu; it's always been there in our DNA.

What took so long? It happens *a lot* when evidence solid enough to secure a conviction is difficult to come by. If they charge the murderer too soon they’ll get away with it because they’ll be acquitted and you can’t try the case twice.
