Yea, these minis definitely need more water than expected. The pot is a traditional Neofinetia pot...but I don’t have many Neos. So it works for my other orchids 🤣
I am hoping not to loose mine! It was doing so well for years, bloomed like clockwork, grew leaves as expected, never saw any signs of stress, but was very surprised to see how little roots had grown throughout the years. Rescue mode is on with mine. Great info video, Jess! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience in this CareCollab... bummer about the spike 🤯😞
Good morning Jess, I have a sogo vivien in spike arriving this week from Crystal Star Nursery. It is probably in 100% moss and I will leave it that way until it finishes blooming then I will repot it in 70% pine bark and 30% moss. I have found that the size of the pot has a lot to do with my choice of medium, in a 4inch pot I would never use 100% moss. I have enjoyed your video and taking good notes about this particular phalaenopsis. Thanks Jess !
Beautiful CareCollab video. A bit larger than mine though 😛 I love the way you clearly explain things as well as your professional filming and closeups etc. So great keep it up! 👍🌷
I bought my orchid at the supermarket and it was a tiny pot that said place one ice cube each week. After a year or more it was doing well so this holiday season I was gifted several poinsettias and one died so I transplanted my orchid, using some soil from the deceased and all is good. I water orchid and poinsettias weekly and I see new growth in winter upstate S.Carolina.
Hi Jess, Thank you for the information in this video. Useful reminder for winter over waterers like me to take into account the cooler temperatures with higher humidity and media variables. We are all guilty of killing a few orchids but I find that sometimes it’s just the plant itself is poor to start with. Hope your beautiful little orchid blooms again soon. 🌼❤️
True, some plants do come in a weakened state, but not this one. It was my fault but I know better now and hopefully this round will be more successful 🍀

Thanks! I think it’s always good to share failures...they are teachable moments and I find I learn more from what goes wrong than what goes right 😁
Great information, now I'm going to check out Nicole D and see what she says for her environment! :)
Haha thanks! 😁
Excellent care collab presentation!! Nice work!!
Thank you! 😊
Loving the pink tinge! I love moss or s/h leca with the minis, they dry out so fast. The outter pot you have it is beautiful.
Sorry about the spike! I hope it branches!!! I noticed the mutations as well. Usually the first bloom of the spike is wonky for me.

Good luck with the rescue! We all go through these things from time to time. It still has a chance! 🤞
Love the TARDIS!!
Yea! Doctor Who is a great show 😁

Total cutie!!! Real bummer about the broken spike!!!
Haha yea, there will be more in the future so I am not too sad about it. Just need to more careful with spikes 🤣
Ha. I too killed my 1st Sogo Vivien... Purchased a replacement, and it's seems happy :)
I think it’s pretty common to kill a few plants before you master growing them 🤣
