2023 F350 Lariat High Output Diesel, Pulling 19,000lb ATC Toy Hauler Over Eisenhower Pass

  • This is my new F350 Lariat pulling our ATC Toy Hauler on a 2000 mile road trip. The trailer weighs about 19,000lbs loaded and is 45' long and 13.5' tall. This is my first diesel and other than making some mistakes trying to get into small gas stations the trip was uneventful for the truck and trailer. I plan to do some future videos with the truck and trailer. Enjoy

      I thought it was going to be a pogo stick. My buddies 2012 F250 rides so hard. The F350 is the quietest and smoothest riding vehicle I’ve ever owned. I’m coming from half ton trucks and sports cars though. It’s a lot quieter than my wife’s Honda.

    In my experience in all my vehicles, cruise control burns more fuel than just using the pedal. Maybe not in the flat states. But in the hills of East TN that's the case.

    • @time_on_target

    Beautiful rig. I do live in Colorado and the roads here are absolutely horrible. I’m not sure what they got if anything for “infrastructure” but they don’t use it on roads. At least not on I70.
    It’s very hard to run cruise control through the mountains with all the traffic and the ups and downs of Vail pass and the Ike Tunnel. I find it much easier to just drive the truck until I’m back on the flats. Have fun!

    • @time_on_target

      @@time_on_targetjust checking in. Shortly after this video I placed an order for a 2024 F350 Platnium SRW HO Tremor. Since it takes so long I am kinda considering a DRW. Like you it’s to tow a 5th wheel. We got a Brinkley Z3610 dry it’s 15k and 16k”ish” the way we have it. Have you towed with a DRW to know the difference and if that extra stability is worth giving up the Tremor?
      While I am waiting on the truck I picked up an 07 2500 5.9 Cummins RAM. It’s over loaded a bit but pulls it very well 😅.

  • @coastaldavhawthorne5891
    @coastaldavhawthorne5891 Год назад +5

    You need to go to a Cat Scale with the truck full of fuel and get weighed. Then go back with the trailer, Difference in the drive axle weight is the trailers pin weight. Add that to the trailer axle weight and that equals the trailer weight. Now, add the pin weight to the truck drive axle weight without the trailer. That will be the trucks Gross vehicle weight. Compare that to the trucks GVW. Your truck maybe overloaded. Pin weight might save you with the triple axle trailer. Two axle trailer like mine at 20,300, not a toy hauler, is 4500lbs.

    • @time_on_target
      @time_on_target  Год назад +1

      That’s the plan next time we tow. I definitely want to take a look at the numbers. ATC advertises 3500lb pin empty and I think it should be slightly less than that with our 2000lb SXS in the back. I’ll post a new video soon with the trailer weight.
